Last year, the Luxembourg Palace, the Petit Luxembourg, residence of the president of the Senate, and the Garden’s greenhouses once again welcomed large crowds, with over 24,000 visitors, making the Senate one of the most popular institutions. On behalf of all my Senator colleagues, I have pleasure in inviting you to GÉRARD LARCHER, PRESIDENT explore the Senate’s exceptional heritage and architecture during these OF THE SENATE special days focusing this year on the theme of “Heritage and Youth”. You will discover that, besides its rich history, the Senate is above all home to a modern, open parliamentary assembly turned toward society and the future. Here, 348 men and women Senators represent every territory of the French Republic as well as the French population living abroad. Elected for a period of six years, Senators are responsible for designing and voting the laws of the Republic, controlling the government’s actions and assessing public policies.
