The bus will depart promptly at 9:30 a.m. on the morning of July 14, Saturday. A representative from Wroxton College will be there with a sign to gather people together. Karin Hamilton and Brian Swanzey, director of study abroad, will also be there. If possible, please wear something with Wroxton or FDU so you can easily be identified. • It’s advised that when traveling internationally you arrive at the airport three hours prior to departure. Give yourself plenty of time for check-in. Passports and/or Visas • You will need your passport/visa to check-in at the airport. • You can check-in and choose your seat online 24 hours prior to departure. • Carry a photocopy of your passport with you. • An American Passport is all that is needed for a U.S. citizen to travel around Europe. Alternative Ways to Wroxton The taxi fare is £100.00 from Heathrow Airport to Wroxton ; it will be more expensive from Gatwick Airport as it is further . The journey generally takes around 1½ hours . The bus from Heathrow to Banbury can be booked at www .NationalExpress .com , and it costs around £40. We recommend the national express coach ; it is advisable to book this in advance rather than just showing up . You may take a taxi to Wroxton College . The Heathrow Express train from the airport to Paddington Station in London , then from Marylebone Station to Banbury by train costs around £60-£70 in total . The downside of taking the train is the hassle of using the escalators in central London with luggage and crowds of people . You may take a taxi to Wroxton College . Packing What is provided by Wroxton College • Sheets, towels, pillows, blankets. • Light housekeeping. • Small soaps and shampoos can be found in your room but you may want to consider bringing your own. • If you forget to bring something, don’t worry. A trip is planned to the local market. Size of Suitcases and Carry-ons These allowances are subject to change so be sure to double -check the airline website for up -to -date baggage allowance . Bags can be checked in online prior to departure . 1. Two carry-ons — cannot exceed 22 inches (length) by 14 inches (width) by 9 inches (height) and 50 pounds. Plus one laptop or briefcase 2. One check-in — 50 pounds and the three dimensions of the luggage (length, width and height) must not exceed a total of 62 inches.

4 Packing, continued • Additional check-ins or an overweight/oversized bag more than 50 lbs. or exceeding the dimensions are charged a flat fee of around $70. Weather • According to www.worldclimate.com the average daily temperature for central England in July is 66 degrees Fahrenheit. • Raincoat, umbrella, washables and comfortable walking shoes are important. Electronics, Laptops, etc. • A battery-powered alarm clock is a good option. • Be sure electronics work on British power currency — adapters are available at Walmart etc., and even some drug stores. All adapters must be checked by the reception area at Wroxton College prior to your use. Wireless access for laptops is available in the three libraries and most bedrooms. (Wireless signal strengths will vary by bedroom). • A computer lab in the library is open 24/7 for use.

Money and Banking 1 USD = 0.77 GBP (est.) 1 GBP = 1.29 USD (est.) • Travelers checks — Obtain in Pounds if possible (it’s easier to keep track of spending). • Travelers checks may be cashed at travel agencies or local banks. • Credit cards and ATM cards. — VISA is most widely accepted. — Call your credit card company to let them know you are traveling abroad and check if the card can be used in Europe. • Don’t forget about exchange rate. • ATM cards give best exchange rate — international withdrawal fee (approximately $5 per withdrawal). • ATMs are everywhere (doesn’t hurt to check with your bank to make sure your ATM card will work with the ATM machines in England, but MOST do.) • Don’t rely solely on ATMs; you can have problems with the card. • Make sure you know your credit/ATM card numbers. • Vault at the College can store your money or jewelry. • It’s suggested that you arrive with at least 100 GBP with you in cash. • Average spending for the week is estimated between 500 GBP to 700 GBP, but it will vary according to per - sonal spending habits.
