Two Sicilies National Characteristics:

Cavalry Composition:
1790-1806 Six regiments: Four horse, 2 dragoons and some provincial units.
1807-1815 Three regular regiments: Called horse regiments but rated dragoons. Sicilian volunteer light dragoons.
1816-1820 Return to Naples. Additional cavalry from former Murat’s kingdom.
Infantry Composition:
1790-1806 Royal Guard (2 btns.) plus Guard Chasseurs (till 1803). Twelve (12) musketeer regiments and six chasseur light btns. In addition, there were provincial regiments and the ever-present Calabrian guerillas whom fought all sides.
1807-1815 Isle of Sicily only. Royal Guard with attached chasseur btn. Queen’s Peasant guard (protection from English heretics), five line regiments (three Neapolitan transplants and two Sicilian) and a garrison regiment. Eight Sicilian volunteer garrison regiments defended the island with small chasseur attachments.
1816-1820 Return to Naples after defeat of Murat. Joined with former Kingdom of Naples army.
