Jehovah Elohim.Mus
2 JEHOVAH ELOHIM – Jehovah (meaning “The Lord”) Elohim (meaning “God”) is the first name given to God, found in of Genesis 1:1. This name shows that God is the majestic ruler over all. Elohim is actually a plural word, and its use as the first name of God sets Him high above all other gods. It also foreshadows the later revelation of the Triune Godhead – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Dynamics and tempo play an important part in Joel Raney’s sensitive setting of this song, so pay careful attention to them, thus heightening the song’s beauty and awe-inspiring tone. With the inclusion of VENI EMMANUEL, the anthem becomes a perfect selection for Advent. Related scriptures include Isaiah 40:1-5 and 11:1-10 and John 1:1-8. KATHIE LEE GIFFORD is a three-time Emmy-winning co-host of the fourth hour of TODAY , alongside Hoda Kotb. may 2012 NOBODY LOVES YOU A World Premiere Musical Comedy Welcome to The Old Globe began its journey with Itamar Moses and Gaby Alter’s Nobody Loves You in 2010, and we are thrilled to officially launch the piece here in its world premiere production. The Globe has a longstanding relationship with Itamar Moses. He was a Globe Playwright-in-Residence in 2007-2008 when we produced the world premieres of his plays Back Back Back and The Four of Us. Nobody Loves You is filled with the same HENRY DIROCCO HENRY whip-smart humor and insight that mark Itamar’s other works, here united with Gaby’s vibrant music and lyrics. Together they have created a piece that portrays, with a tremendous amount of humor and heart, the quest for love in a world in which romance is often commercialized. Just across Copley Plaza, the Globe is presenting another musical, the acclaimed The Scottsboro Boys, by musical theatre legends John Kander and Fred Ebb. We hope to see you back this summer for our 2012 Summer Shakespeare Festival. Under Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Adrian Noble, this outdoor favorite features Richard III, As You Like It and Inherit the Wind in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. The summer season will also feature Michael Kramer’s Divine Rivalry as well as Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award-winning comedy God of Carnage. As always, we thank you for your support as we continue our mission to bring San Diego audiences the very best theatre, both classical and contemporary. Michael G. Amy Weinstein, Artistic Director of Studentslive Passport to Broadway
Letter from Amy Weinstein, Artistic Director of StudentsLive Passport to Broadway: It is very nice to meet you and thank you for taking a moment to read about the very unique mission and purpose of this Brooklyn College Musical Theater Intensive. I am so pleased to be able to bring my professional background, long held respect and contacts in the theater community on Broadway, across the country and world, and expertise in theater history, methods and philosophies of theater education to help inspire and increase your skill sets at every level and instill confidence in your own unique talents. I believe that the best theater studies should prepare students for all kinds of careers that will enrich and transform the human experience in a rich, incandescent, diverse and highly multi-disciplinary environment. These last eighteen years have been a powerful experience for myself and my creative and production team travelling to 7 countries and hosting seven more here direct on Broadway in New York City with our Passport to Broadway Program. The thousands of serious aspiring students involved in this rigorous process grew beyond our wildest imagination with a passion and dedication for learning and performing this very challenging art form in almost impossible short windows of time; What would normally require a Broadway professional at least 6 to 8 weeks of rehearsals is taught and learned eloquently in 10 short days with our exceptional Broadway Artists faculty and students. They made the virtually impossible, possible. And that is a testament to both their talents and hard work, as well as the collaboration and individual expression great Musical Theater evokes. -
