Diagnostic Notes Colonies(MEYA) rapidly expanding, white, flat or with cottony aerial mycelium and somewhat fimbriate margin. Odour insignificant or fruity. Expanding hyphae often with di- or trichotomous branching; main branches 7-12 µm wide, walls firm, bearing much narrower (2.5-4.0 µm) lateral branches at acute or nearly right angles. Lateral branches soon disarticulating into short-cylindrical cells which slightly inflate, finally measuring about 5-17 × 4-6 µm. Teleomorph. _Galactomyces geotrichum_ (Butler & Petersen) Redhead & Malloch (Ascomycota, Hemiascomycetes, Saccharomycetales, Dipodascaceae). Asci subhyaline, (sub)spherical, 6-9 × 7-10 µm, containing one, rarely two ascospores. Ascospores broadly ellipsoidal, 6-9 × 7-10 µm, pale yellowish brown, with an echinate inner wall (spines up to 1 µm long)and an irregular outer wall, often with a hyaline equatorial furrow. Heterothallic. Description taken from de Hoog et al. (2000). 2.6. References Hoog GS de, Guarro, J., Gene, J., Figueras MJ (2000) Atlas of Clinical Fungi 2nd Edition.
