9am - 3pm W: Castle Dome(30) (+ Root Creek Falls?) {Steve Russel} Where: Mt Shasta Hatchery, 3 N Old Stage Rd, Mt Shasta, CA 96067, United States Who: Scribe Siskiyou Wanderers, [email protected] Going? Yes Description: Start on the PCT at the Soda Creek Interchange and climb to a beautiful overlook adjacent to Castle Dome. AD: 6 miles THE: 2750' AEG: 1950 Quad: Dunsmuir Hike will be in the State Park, so dogs should be left home. This is a 30th Anniversary hike; the Wanderers did it twice in 1986! A side trip to Root Creek Falls is also possible.

Yes Description: Explore new route to Sheep Rock summit from the junction of Military Pass and Highway 97. Cross country over sloping terrain of brush and junipers. If the weather is unseasonably warm that day, dogs may not be a good idea due to rattlers. Start at approximately 4,390' and climb to 5,705' summit. Round trip about 6-7 miles. Quad: The Whaleback

Yes Description: Stroll along the burbling waters of Parks Creek following the abandoned old Parks Creek road (now 4x4 track). It can be made into a loop if we choose to return via the paved new Parks Creek road. Start at approximately 4,456', lose about 300' by dropping to the creek and then end at 5,309' where the old road meets the new road again. Round trip about 6-7 miles. Meet at 9:00 AM at the Edgewood underpass. Quad: China Mountain

Yes Description: The trailhead is just after the last homes above the railroad tracks. THE 3900 AEG 700, Total Distance: 9 to 11 miles. There are many places where you can call it short and head back to the TH (e.g. Marley Junction in the heart of trail network is 2 miles by old road back to the trailhead). Planned return is via a new trail: Flora's "Eddy View" trail. Flora would also like a volunteer picture taker.

Possible extension to loop through Meeks Meadow, by South Lake to the PCT (adds 2.5mi & 1100ft) Quads: Etna & Eaton Peak
