I would like to pay tribute to the founder members for their inspiration and enterprise in launching the show back in the nineteen seventies. I would like to thank all the past and present members of the Show Committee for all their hard work, commitment and dedication along the way. Not forgetting all our old friends who are very sadly no longer with us. The contribution of all our other staunch supporters from near and far; who have worked tirelessly and contributed in so many different way over the last forty years in order to keep the show going, especially during the more challenging times, is also very much appreciated. That includes all our volunteer helpers for their invaluable labour, the stall holders, entertainers, exhibitors, judges, stewards and the charitable organisations who work, in conjunction with the committee, to stage the show. Staging the show also involves a major financial outlay that would be totally impossible without the generous support of all our many sponsors, for which we are extremely grateful. Caerwys is a traditional Agricultural Show, which provides an interesting day out for everybody from all walks of life, with something for all age groups, from children to senior citizens.

A History of Padeswood and Buckley Golf Club
A History of Padeswood and Buckley Golf Club The club would not be in existence today had it not been for the enterprise of Arthur Joseph. The first record we have of a golf club at Padeswood is on the 1912 OS map which shows Mold Golf Club occupying the land on the right of Station Lane. The course remained until 1922 when the members moved to Pantymwyn. Some documentation, however, suggests that the Mold club was at Padeswood as early as 1909 although no actual records have been found. The Padeswood course was left derelict until 1932 when Arthur Joseph, holidaying in the area, spotted an ideal prospect and decided that he could make the land into a good golf course. At the time he was the professional at Mellor and Townscliffe Golf Club, Derbyshire, and already had to his credit the design and construction of the 18 hole Great Ormes Head Golf course at Llandudno in 1903 and the Mellor Golf Course in 1919. It is also believed that he was the professional at Bury Golf Club in 1913. Arthur set up as a tenant at the Bridge Inn, Padeswood (now demolished), in 1932. Having obtained a lease from the Fairbairn- Eyton estate and a licence for playing golf from Mold Golf Club, he began to reconstruct the course. He drained water from the ground into a stream that meandered through the course. All the groundwork was carried out single- handedly with just a spade and wheelbarrow! Gradually the course took shape and the newly constructed 9 hole course at Padeswood came into being.

To record any declarations of interest None. 3. To approve minutes of the general meeting 15 July 2019 The minutes of the 15 July were proposed by Cllr. Jones and seconded by Cllr. Hazlehurst and signed as an accurate record by the acting Chair, Cllr. Dave Seddon in the absence of the Chair. 4. Matters arising from the last minutes Page 1, Item 3 the clerk reported Mr Dan Williams, School & Sports co-ordinator at Aura, had corresponded to say the taster day for the youth sports event in the summer had gone well. The funding application will wait until the next round 7 October 2019. A future session needs to be arranged and confirmation as to whether the pitch facility at the school will be available in the winter needs to be confirmed. Page 2 Item 5 the clerk reported a response from Holywell High School regarding a Youth Representative on the Community Council from Mr Mark Seale, Director of Learning to say no positive responses to date. However, they are recruiting a new head boy & girl and may ask if they are interested. Page 3 Item 7 – A location near the Mostyn Shops to be agreed for the defibrillator. Cllr. Hazlehurst will liaise with Tomos from Y Cub Calon Y Dyffryn as it would be connected to a supply from a streetlight close by.
