The primary focus is to explore core technologies, practices, and workflows utilized for the creation of conent and subsequent programming of media servers. Software covered includes: disguise media server, Vectorworks, and Blender. Students will learn a variety of software applications including but not limited to VectorWorks and LightConverse. Within this course students are expected to design, draft, and render complete environments with a level of completion ready for presentation to any prospective client. Spring 2020

More specifically students explore hardware and software components to execute a variety of interactive designs. The Hog 4 lighting console will serve as a key component for both input and output device throughout the course. Students learn skills necessary to program each piece of software, as well as create independent networks for show control. Projects begin as primarily skills based, and evolve into incorporating design and narrative elements. This class will explore not only theatrical performances, but a variety of live performance avenues. Fall 2018

Assistant Professor of Practice University of Texas at Austin AET 339 / TD 354T: Drafting Lighting and Media This course serves as the introductory 2D drafting course for projection, lighting and Interactivity (PLAI). Throughout the semester students will learn drafting standards, practices and techniques utilized within the field of live entertainment with the use of VectorWorks CAD software. Students will work through a series of exercises designed to reach lighting and projection fundamentals including: beam angle / field angle, drafting line weights, projection throw calculations, and distribution of light. Students will learn how to draft lighting and projection plots, sections and system diagrams. Fall 2018

Participants gained an understanding of copyright laws as well as various methods used to create original content.
