The Ohio State University Wrestling Summer Camps Camp Sessions ™ The Ohio State University Wrestling Summer Camps Thank you for selecting The Ohio State University Wrestling Summer Camps. We are confident that you will both enjoy and benefit from the instruction you will receive at our camps. A copy of our “Camper Rules and Expectations” has been included in this packet. Parents should review these rules with their camper before coming to camp. Included at the end of this packet is a Parent Consent, Waiver and Release Form. PLEASE COMPLETE THIS FORM AND BRING IT WITH YOU TO THE CAMP CHECK-IN. DO NOT MAIL THIS FORM TO US PRIOR TO THE CAMP. THIS FORM IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CAMP. CAMPERS WHO DO NOT BRING THE FORM TO CHECK-IN WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE. Camp Sessions Competition/Team Camp June 26-29 Leg Attack Camp July 10-14 Heavyweight School July 10-14 Lou Rosselli Intensive Camps July 10-14 / July 17-21 / July 10-21 Father/Son Elementary Camp July 15-17 Turn & Pin Mat Wrestling Camp July 17-21 Technique Camp July 17-21 Information for All Campers Weigh-In and Skin Check: Each camper will be weighed at check-in by our camp staff, and a member of our medical staff will also perform a skin check. Campers should wear mesh shorts for this. In the event that we determine a camper is unable to participate in camp due to a skin condition, the camper’s registration fee will be fully refunded. The parent, guardian or other person who drives the camper to check-in should remain with the camper until the completion of the skin check. Camper Hygiene: Each camper must take responsibility for his own proper hygiene during camp. Proper hygiene includes, among other things: • Wearing clean clothes – Campers should bring plenty of t-shirts, shorts, socks, underwear and athletic supports to camp. Campers should change their clothes after each instructional/workout session. Each camp day typically has three instructional/workout sessions. Campers should not attend meals or other camp activities in the same clothes that they wore to instructional/workout sessions. Dirty clothes should be placed in a plastic bag. • Washing your hands – Campers should wash their hands frequently, particularly after a workout or sparring session. There is a bathroom in the French Field House for campers to use when washing their hands. • Showering – We strongly recommend that campers shower after each instructional/workout session. At a minimum, campers should wash always their hands, face and arms before eating. Campers should bring a sufficient number of towels for these showers and should not share their towels with other campers. We also recommend that campers bring an antiseptic antimicrobial soap or liquid to use when they shower (e.g., Hibiclens). Hibiclens and other similar products are available in most CVS, Target and Walgreens stores. • No bare feet – Campers should keep athletic or wrestling shoes on at all times while on the wrestling mats and when “on their feet” in their dorms. If a camper notices a skin rash, skin infection (like a boil or abscess), or other skin lesion during camp, he should immediately notify the camp athletic trainer. Driving to camp: If you are planning to drive your own car, please be advised that you may be required to leave your keys with Coach Ryan while you are at camp. You must also purchase a parking permit to park your car on campus. Parking permits will be available for sale during check-in. The cost for parking is $5.00 per day. Please park only in designated areas (campus maps will be available at check-in). Medications: Campers may only carry medications to camp if such medications are to treat a potentially life-threatening condition. Typically, we have only permitted campers to carry EPI- pens and inhalers for asthma. Campers must disclose their intention to bring an EPI-pen or inhaler prior to their arrival at camp. In order to bring any medication (prescription or over-the- counter) to camp, a parent or guardian must make a request to the Camps Office. Each camper’s situation will be considered on a case-by-case basis. To make a request, or to disclose the intended use of an EPI-Pen or inhaler at camp, please contact Cara Singel (Assistant Director - Buckeye Sports Camps Office) by email at [email protected]. In order to adequately assess your request, please contact us at least 21 days prior to the start of the camp. Accommodations: If you have questions about accessibility or you need to request assistance to participate in any of the Ohio State Athletics Department’s sports camps, please contact Cara Singel (Assistant Director - Buckeye Sports Camps Office) by email at [email protected]. In order to adequately assess your request, please contact us at least 21 days prior to the start of the camp. Refunds or Session Changes: A full refund less a $100 administrative fee will be issued for any cancellation received at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the camp session. Any cancellations received less than 2 weeks prior to the start of camp session will generally not be eligible for a refund. Cancellation notices and refund requests must be submitted on the Refund Request Form available at OhioStateBuckeyes.com/camps. The registration fee cannot be transferred to any other Ohio State sports camp or campers, including a teammate for those attending Competition/Team Camp. All documentation required for a refund to be processed and approved must be submitted by August 31, 2011. Requests for a session change must be received at least 2 weeks prior to the scheduled session. Send your request to Cara Singel at [email protected]. Even with 2 weeks’ notice, we cannot guarantee availability in any session. Athletic Trainers: All camp sessions are supervised by athletic trainers. A trainer will also stay with overnight campers in the dorm. Parents are welcome: Parents are welcome to observe camp from public areas at the camp site. Only camp staff members are permitted on the mats during camp. Contacting a camper during camp: By phone – There are no phones in the dorms. If you call your child on his cell phone, the best time to reach him is before breakfast and during our evening activity. We strongly encourage campers to take care of all communications prior to lights out. In case of an emergency - Call Tom Ryan at 614 257-7147 (cell) or Alex Picazo at 614 404- 6990 (cell).
