Has a great opening chapter that lays out the general strategic aims of the opening from both sides, and this really helps when it comes to move order. Once into the variations Houska points out tactical traps and mover-order subtleties. Strongest on the Qa5 variations, but does cover Qd6 and Great starter book and one that will keep you from making major mistakes in the first ten moves. About Jovanka Houska. Jovanka Houska. She is a six times winner of the British Women's Chess Championship. Born in south London, Houska's family name stems from her grandfather who was part Starting Out: The Scandinavian.
