A native of Tacoma, WA, he began playing piano at age four and Tedde will present a FREE WORKSHOP pipe organ at age 16. He studied classical organ with the late Dr. Edward Hansen and Dr. Carol Terry, classical organ improvisation “Gospel music, orchestral transcriptions, with Dr. J. Melvin Butler and David Dahl, and theatre organ stylings with Jonas Nordwall. He was a featured organist at Pizza & Pipes and more— on the theatre organ” in Tacoma. Since 2003 he has resided in the metropolitan DC area Friday evening, April 13, 7–9 PM where he is active in both the theatre and church organ scenes. Tedde periodically commutes to Seattle to play for the Paramount Calvary Christian Assembly Theatre’s Silent Movie Mondays presentations. Drive Directions:IMPORTANT!     “Cry Me a River” – Julie London (1955) Added to the National Registry: 2015 Essay by Michael Owen (guest post)* Julie London An unknown song…an unknown singer…an unknown label. Not an ideal combination for a hit record. Julie London was born Nancy Gayle Peck in Santa Rosa, California, in 1926. As a child, London was surrounded by music. Her parents were singers who often performed on the radio and at nightclubs in San Bernardino, California, and she soaked up songs and a relaxed vocal style that matured into a uniquely throaty purr as she reached adulthood. At the age of sixteen, London was discovered by an agent who spotted her running an elevator at an upscale men’s clothing store on Hollywood Boulevard. She appeared in 11 movies during the 1940s and 1950s--among them supporting roles opposite Edward G. Robinson and Gary Cooper --but with little success, and retired at the age of 25 to raise a family with her husband, actor Jack Webb (“Dragnet”). After the couple’s divorce two years later, London intended to resume her acting career, when fate arrived in the person of songwriter Bobby Troup (“Route 66”). Troup encouraged London to sing professionally from the moment they met. The natural, unaffected qualities in her voice set her apart from other female vocalists of the day, he reasoned, and would help her regain a footing in show business. While London often sang around the house--she described herself as a “living room singer”--with friends who gathered around her piano at the end of the evening, she had no interest in singing for her supper.

    The ASCAP Foundation Making music grow since 1975 www.ascapfoundation.org Spring 2010 Notations Paul Williams Elected To Presidency of The ASCAP Foundation The Board of Directors of The ASCAP Foundation recently elected songwriter Paul Williams President of the Foundation. Williams was also elected President and Chairman of the Board of ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) in 2009. Williams succeeds Marilyn Bergman as President of the Foundation. Bergman served in that post for 15 years during which time she contributed significantly to the growth and stature of the Foundation. She remains an active member of The ASCAP Foundation Board. Paul Williams Paul Williams is an Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe winning Hall of Fame songwriter. "We've Only Just Begun," "Rainy Days and Mondays," "You and Me Against the World," "An Old Fashioned Love Song," "I Won't Last a Day Without You" and "Let Me Be The One" are among his timeless standards. His songs have been recorded by such diverse musical icons as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Willie Nelson, Ella Fitzgerald, David Bowie, Ray Charles, R.E.M., Tony Bennett, Sarah Vaughan, Johnny Mathis, Luther Vandross and Kermit the Frog. Bugsy Malone and Phantom of the Paradise are among his song scores for film. "The Rainbow Connection" from the children's classic The Muppet Movie and "Evergreen" from A Star is Born are two of his songs that grace the American Film Institute's list of the top 100 movie songs of all times. Having completed the music and lyrics for the Garry Marshall musical Happy Days, Williams joined forces with the Jim Paul Williams (far right) with ASCAP CEO John Henson Company to produce a new musical based on the LoFrumento (left) and the 2009 recipient of The perennial favorite, Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas.

    Our Mission The Rainbow Women’s Chorus works together to develop musical excellence in an atmosphere of mutual support and respect. We perform publicly for the entertainment, education and cul- tural enrichment of our audiences and community. We sing to enhance the esteem of all women, to celebrate diversity, to promote peace and freedom, and to touch people’s hearts and lives. Our Story Rainbow Women’s Chorus is a nonprofit corporation governed by the Action Circle, a group of women dedicated to realizing the organization’s mission. Chorus members began singing together in 1996, presenting concerts in venues such as Le Petit Trianon Theatre, the San Jose Repertory Theater, Triton Museum, Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts. The chorus also performs at church services, diversity celebrations, awards ceremonies, community meetings and private events. Rainbow Women’s Chorus is a member of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA). In 2000, RWC proudly cohosted the GALA festival in San Jose, with the Silicon Valley Gay Men’s Chorus. Since then, RWC has participated in GALA festivals in Montreal (2004), Miami (2008), and Denver (2012). In February 2006, members of RWC sang with a dozen other choruses at a breast cancer and HIV benefit at Carnegie Hall in NYC, Timothy Selig conducting. In July 2010, RWC traveled to Chicago for the Sister Singers Women’s Choral Festival. But we like it best when we are here at home, singing for you!
