THE BICYCLE RING in AARHUS, DENMARK: a Case Study of Maintaining People Friendly Environments While Managing Cycling Growth
THE BICYCLE RING IN AARHUS, DENMARK: a case study of maintaining people friendly environments while managing cycling growth Urban Planning & Management | Master Thesis | Aalborg University | June 2017 Estella Johanna Hollander & Matilda Kristina Porsö Title: The Bicycle Ring in Aarhus, Denmark: a case study of maintaining people friendly environments while managing cycling growth Study: M.Sc. in UrBan Planning and Management, School of Architecture, Design and Planning, AalBorg University Project period: FeBruary to June 2017 Authors: Estella Johanna Hollander and Matilda Kristina Porsö Supervisor: Gunvor RiBer Larsen Pages: 111 pages Appendices: 29 pages (A-E) i Abstract This research project seeks to analyze the relationship Between cycling and people friendly environments, specifically focusing on the growth in cycling numbers and the associated challenges. To exemplify this relationship, this research project uses a case study of the Bicycle Ring (Cykelringen) in Aarhus, Denmark. Four corners around the Bicycle Ring, with different characteristics in the Built environment, are explored further. In cities with a growing population, such as Aarhus, moBility is an important focus because the amount of travel will increase, putting a higher pressure on the existing infrastructure. In Aarhus, cycling is used as a tool to facilitate the future demand of travel and to overcome the negative externalities associated with car travel. The outcome of improved mobility and accessibility is seen as complementary to a good city life in puBlic spaces. Therefore, it is argued that cycling is a tool to facilitate people friendly environments. Recently, the City of Aarhus has implemented cycle streets around the Bicycle Ring as a solution to improve the conditions around the ring. -

Protection of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Study of Communal Land in the Management of Oil Palm Plantation in Indonesia by : Firdaus1
Protection of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Study of Communal Land In The Management of Oil Palm Plantation in Indonesia By : Firdaus1 I. Preliminary A. Background One century of palm journey2 has demonstrated its role as a contributor to foreign exchange. Riau Provincial Secretariat, noted oil palm plantations in Riau province in 2010 and 2011 has contributed Rp16, 65 trillion from CPO exports of palm oil and its derivatives.3 Palm oil industry contributed to the enhancement of the national economy, employment, improved quality of life of local communities. In addition, palm oil is also a negative impact on society and the environment. Often the respect and protection of the rights of indigenous peoples especially communal land neglected oil palm plantations (PPKS). Palm plantation is a product of forest modernization by the state. Agricultural societies transformed into urban industrial society. Social rules, customs, habits that have been collected and characterized the life of a village or hamlet is replaced by the rhythm of the factory and the city.4 The difference in modern and traditional paradigms cause conflict (gaps) between the corporation with indigenous peoples (traditional), and 1 Lecturer of Faculty of Law, University of Riau, doctoral candidate in law at Islamic University of Indonesia. 2 M. Eliminating Blood Oncogenic Exosomes Into the Small Intestine with Aptamer-Functionalized Nanoparticles
Corrected: Publisher correction ARTICLE https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-019-13316-w OPEN Eliminating blood oncogenic exosomes into the small intestine with aptamer-functionalized nanoparticles Xiaodong Xie1,5, Huifang Nie1,5, Yu Zhou1, Shu Lian1, Hao Mei1, Yusheng Lu2, Haiyan Dong1,3, Fengqiao Li1, Tao Li1, Bifei Li1, Jie Wang1, Min Lin1, Chaihung Wang1, Jingwei Shao1, Yu Gao 1, Jianming Chen2, Fangwei Xie4 & Lee Jia1,2* 1234567890():,; There are disease-causing biohazards in the blood that cannot be treated with modern medicines. Here we show that an intelligently designed safe biomaterial can precisely identify, tow and dump a targeted biohazard from the blood into the small intestine. Positively charged mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) functionalized with EGFR-targeting apta- mers (MSN-AP) specifically recognize and bind blood-borne negatively charged oncogenic exosomes (A-Exo), and tow A-Exo across hepatobiliary layers and Oddi’s sphincter into the small intestine. MSN-AP specifically distinguish and bind A-Exo from interfering exosomes in cell culture and rat and patient blood to form MSN-AP and A-Exo conjugates (MSN-Exo) that transverse hepatocytes, cholangiocytes, and endothelial monolayers via endocytosis and exocytosis mechanisms, although Kupffer cells have been shown to engulf some MSN-Exo. Blood MSN-AP significantly decreased circulating A-Exo levels, sequentially increased intestinal A-Exo and attenuated A-Exo-induced lung metastasis in mice. This study opens an innovative avenue to relocate blood-borne life-threatening biohazards to the intestine. 1 Cancer Metastasis Alert and Prevention Center, College of Chemistry; Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory of Cancer Metastasis Chemoprevention and Chemotherapy, Fuzhou University, Minjiang University, Fuzhou, Fujian 350116, China. -
