Thursday, July 11 Libby Rosenbaum serves as the Chief Executive Officer overseeing the ACYPL’s fundraising, communications, grants , new business development, and strategic planning. Libby previously served as the Vice President of Programs and Communications. Prior to this, Libby served as the Education Partnerships Manager at the British Council where she promoted and established US-UK research collaborations and planned international summits devoted to higher education best practice. She also served as the Major Gifts Officer at the Center for American Progress, a progressive think tank, and as a fundraiser on the US Senate campaigns of Ken Salazar and Joe Hoeffel. Libby graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Political Science and received an MSc in Politics and Government of the European Union from the London School of . She traveled with ACYPL to Timor Leste in 2017.

Jacqueline Harris is the Outreach and Engagement Director at ACYPL. She manages the delegation nomination and selection process, maintains ongoing alumni relations, and works closely with partners and board members. Prior to her current position, Jacqueline spent four years working for the Obama Administration, first as an intern in the Office of the First Lady, then as an employee in the offices of Presidential Correspondence and Legislative Affairs. Jacqueline also worked at ONE, an advocacy organization dedicated to ending extreme poverty and preventable diseases in Africa. Jacqueline earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and with a concentration in international security and diplomacy and Middle Eastern studies from Syracuse University. Jacqueline traveled with ACYPL to South Africa and Botswana in 2017.

Cameron Schupp is the Development & Special Projects Director at ACYPL. In this role, Cameron is responsible for managing fundraising initiatives, donor stewardship, and coordinating ACYPL events. Cameron has worked in various capacities in the nonprofit sector and prior to joining the ACYPL team, worked with the international development NGO International Executive Service Corp and as a Program Assistant at JASS, a women’s rights organization. Cameron graduated from George Mason University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in global affairs and conflict analysis and resolution. She traveled with ACYPL to the Philippines and Indonesia in 2019.

Friday, July 12 The Department of State is the federal executive department responsible for the international relations of the United States, equivalent to the foreign ministries of other countries. The Department was created in 1789 and was the first executive department established. The Department operates the diplomatic missions of the United States abroad and is responsible for implementing the foreign policy and diplomacy efforts of the United States. The Department is led by Secretary Michael R. Pompeo who was sworn in as the 70th U.S. Secretary of State on April 26, 2018.

Eythan Schiller is a Program Officer in the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) in the Office of Citizen Exchanges, Professional Fellows Division. Prior to this, he was a Program Analyst in the Bureau of Budget and Planning working on congressional relations, and also served as a Program Officer in ECA in the Office of Global Educational Programs overseeing academic exchanges. Before joining the State Department, Eythan worked for IREX, the International Research and Exchanges Board, in Washington, D.C. and Turkmenistan managing several academic exchange programs for students, teachers, and professionals from Eurasia. Eythan also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Azerbaijan from 2003-2005 as a teacher in a state middle school where he taught English. Prior to this, he held

various positions in public service at the Florida Department of State, the Florida Bar, and the U.S. House of Representatives. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University.

Gerardo Díaz Bartolomé has been the Deputy Chief of Mission for the Embassy of Argentina in the US since June of 2018. As a diplomat, he has served at the General Directorate of Malvinas and South Atlantic, the Deputy Foreign Minister’s Office, and as Private Secretary to the Foreign Minister. In August 2008, Gerardo was assigned to the Permanent Mission of Argentina to the United Nations in New York where he served for six years. In that position, he was Argentina’s Delegate to the Special and Decolonization Committee (UNGA Fourth Committee), being responsible for political and decolonization issues, including questions related to information. In August 2014 he was appointed to be head of bilateral and multilateral affairs at the Malvinas Islands Under Secretariat at Argentina's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a position he held until April 2016 when he was appointed Head of Political Affairs at the Argentine Embassy in Washington, DC. Gerardo holds a bachelor's degree in international affairs from the Universidad de Belgrano and a National Public Translator in English Language Degree from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata.

Shannon Billings is ACYPL’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief of Staff and handles a wide range of matters of organizational importance, including financial and strategic planning, , and office operations. Prior to joining ACYPL, Shannon served as Director of Advocacy Programs at Alliance for Justice, Senior Regulatory Compliance Officer at the Sierra Club, Director of Public Affairs for the Investment Company Institute, Controller for EMILY’s List, and in the controller’s office at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Shannon has a bachelor’s degree in political science with minors in Russian and French from Bates College. She has previously traveled with ACYPL as the delegation escort to Russia in 2014, India in 2015 and China in 2019.

The Fundación Universitaria del Río de la Plata (FURP) is a private, non-profit organization, created in 1970 by young professionals, with the objective of contributing to the training of professional leaders, within the framework of a responsible and multi partisan dialogue. Its main goal is to enable young Argentines with leadership skills to gain greater knowledge in political, economic and social issues, in order to contribute to their better performance in the areas in which they are protagonists. As in 2019, FURP has more than 1,000 members, who have been selected over the years, through very competitive processes, and have traveled to different countries, participating in courses and seminars.

Saturday, July 13 Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina. The city is located on the western shore of the estuary of the Río de la Plata, and has a population of roughly 15 million, making it the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the Americas. Strongly influenced by European culture, Buenos Aires is sometimes referred to as the " of South America." The most popular tourist sites are found in the historic core of the city, in the Montserrat and San Telmo neighborhoods, centered around the , the colony's administrative center.

Iguazu is home to Iguazu Falls National Park and the city of Puerto Iguazu. With the world- renowned Iguazú Falls only 11 mi away from the city, Puerto Iguazu has developed much of its infrastructure around tourism. In addition, the falls create the tri-border area in which , Argentina, and converge.

Misiones Province is mostly a basalt continuation of the Paraná Plateau of Brazil, lying at elevations of 650 to 2,600 feet. The province’s rough terrain is covered by subtropical evergreen rainforest and is accented by canyons, rivers, and low ranges of the Victoria, Imán, and Misiones

mountains. The principal economic staple is the shrub Ilex paraguariensis, which is used to make the tea-like beverage of yerba mate.

Iguazu Falls National Park along with its sister park, Iguaçu National Park in Brazil, is home to one of the largest and most spectacular waterfalls in the world, stretching roughly three kilometers wide and dropping some 80 meters. The protected area is roughly 60,000 acres and forms the largest single protected remnant of the Paranaense subtropical rainforest. The rich biodiversity includes over 2000 species of plants, 400 species of birds and possibly as many as 80 mammals, as well as countless invertebrate species. The falls were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984 and has since attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

Jose Arrua is the Minister of Tourism for the Misiones Province, as well as President of the Federal Council of Tourism, a federal advisory body composed of the Ministry of Tourism of the Nation, a representative of the official tourism agency of all 23 provinces, and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. Jose has been in public office since his appointment in 2007 by Orlando Franco, serving the Misiones Province as General Directorate of Culture as well as General Secretariat of the Intendancy.

Juan Manuel Diaz was appointed by Governor Hugo Passalacqua as Minister of Ecology in January of 2018, replacing the current national deputy Verónica Derna. Previously, he was an undersecretary of Ecology and an official with several years of experience in the organization.

Sunday, July 14 Misiones Biodiversity Institute is a center of regional and international reference with a mission to add value to the biodiversity of the province, bringing knowledge closer to the people for sustainable development, as well as constituting a strategic integral social, cultural, scientific, technological, educational, and economic core for the sustainable use of the province's natural heritage.

Monday, July 15 Posadas is the of the Argentine province of Misiones, at the far northeast of the country on the left bank of the Paraná River, opposite Encarnación, Paraguay. The city has an area of 373 square miles and a population of 324,756. Once a significant trading port, Posadas is now an administrative center, with a substantial portion of its population working in public service. Posadas is also important for the manufacture of wood and iron products.

Oscar Herrera Ahuad is an Argentine politician and pediatrician, who holds the post of Vice- Governor of the Province of Misiones. Before his election as Vice-Governor in December 2015, he was appointed as Minister of Health of the Province of Misiones. He was elected governor in the 2019 elections and will take office next December 10.

The Polo TIC is a provincial project of industrial innovation that was planned as a key space to think about the future of Misiones. This project is intended to strengthen the industrial sector in Misiones that has more than 87 companies and employs more than 300 workers.

Lucas Romero Spinelli is an accountant from Misiones, appointed as the General Director of Industry of the Government of Misiones.

Marcelo Rodríguez is the President of the Marandú Comunicaciones. He is a former state legislator.

Tuesday, July 16 Dr. Froilán Zarza is the President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Province of Misiones.

Oscar Herrera Ahuad is an Argentine politician and pediatrician, who holds the post of Vice- Governor of the Province of Misiones. Before his election as Vice-Governor in December 2015, he was appointed as Minister of Health of the Province of Misiones. He was elected governor in the 2019 elections and will take office next December 10.

The House of Representatives of the Province of Misiones is the unicameral legislative body of the province, which is made up of 40 deputies (members). Half of its deputies are renewed by popular election every two years and serve for a period of four years.

The Yerba Mate Amanda Plant was founded in the 18th century by a Polish immigrant to Argentina and is one of the most profitable mate companies in the country.

Yerba mate is an herb native to South America and is used to make the national drink of Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Southern Brazil. Often likened to tea, yerba mate is prepared by grinding the herb in a traditional cup and then slowly adding hot water, allowing time for the water to be absorbed. Yerba Mate has a great deal of cultural significance and is understood to have been a staple of the region for centuries. Today, yerba mate is consumed 6 to 1 over coffee and is sold in every corner market.

Wednesday, July 17 The Knowledge Park, inaugurated on December 7, 2007, is a cultural center in the city of Posadas. It covers an area of 22,000 square miles and contains two theaters, a public library, an arts and conventions center, and a cinema.

Thursday, July 18 Ignacio Labaqui is a Senior Analyst for Latin America at Medley Global Advisors, a macro policy research organization that navigates monetary, regulatory, energy, political, and geopolitical affairs. In addition, he has been a Professor at the Argentine Catholic University since 2001. Ignacio received a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Gustavo Marangoni is a Managing Partner of M&R Asociados, a financial consulting firm that specializes in economics, finance, and public opinion. Previously, Gustavo was the President of the Bank of Buenos Aires and has held multiple cabinet positions in the national government, including Press Director for the Chamber of Senators, Assistant Secretary of State for the Office of the Vice Presidency, and Cabinet Advisor for the Presidency of the Argentine Nation.

Carlos Mahiques is a recognized academic of criminal with distinctions obtained in the by , governments, and civil associations in Europe and America. He has had a 43-year career in the judiciary system, having served as Secretary of first instance in the city of Mercedes to President of the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation, his current role. Carlos also served as Minister of Justice of the province of Buenos Aires from 2015-2017.

The National Congress of Argentina is the legislative branch of the . Its composition is bicameral, constituted by a 72-seat Senate and a 257-seat Chamber of Deputies.

Connie Schmidt-Liermann is a lawyer and Argentinian politician who serves as the Chairwoman for the Committee on Foreign Relations in Argentina. She has served as the national deputy for the Propuesta Republicana Party since 2011 in Buenos Aires.

Infobae.com is an Argentine digital newspaper of current affairs and created in 2002 by businessman Daniel Hadad. It is one of the most visited online newspapers in Argentina and was recognized by the Konex Foundation as the most outstanding Digital Entrepreneurship of the last decade in Argentina. Since 2017, Infobae has had a content alliance with Vice.com and The Washington Post.

Friday, July 19 The Industrial Union of Argentina (UIA) is the largest and highest-level representative of the industry in Argentina. UIA (its acronym in Spanish) represents more than 115,000 industrial facilities, 55% of all exports, 30% of tax revenues, and 25.6% of the country’s gross added value. Since 1887, UIA has strived to defend the national manufacturing industry by encouraging the creation and development of a vertically and horizontally integrated internal market.

The Central Bank Museum displays the history of the country's currency and all the means of payment that circulated in this territory from the original peoples to the present. The museum has the most valuable and complete public collection of Argentine coins, which totals more than 20,000 pieces. Located a few meters from the Plaza de Mayo, the current headquarters of the Museum was declared in 2005 National Historical Monument.

Casa de Moneda is the Argentine mint, controlled by the Argentine government and administratively subordinated to the Ministry of Economy. It produces legal tender coins and banknotes, as well as medals and security prints (i.e., passports, subway tokens, postage stamps) that are used and issued by government-run service providers.

Dr. Augusto Ardiles Diaz is a FURP member and one of the Directors of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. He has served as an advisor in both the Honorable National Congress and the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic. Augusto has a master's degree in law and economics from the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella.

Saturday, July 20 Esteban Echeverria is one of the 135 local districts of the . Its main town, Monte Grande, is located 25 miles southwest of Buenos Aires City. Next October the population of about 300,000 will vote for a Mayor and 12 seats in the Local Council.

Lucas Diaz is a FURP member who is running for Mayor of Esteban Echeverría, his hometown. Lucas has a law degree and is a Master of Public Policy candidate. He is a former official of the Ministry of Security of the Province of Buenos Aires (2014 - 2015) and member of the Public Policy Forum of the Argentina Supreme Court of Justice (2016 - 2017).

Monday, July 22 US Embassy – Buenos Aires seeks to protect the interests and safety of U.S. citizens in Argentina, promote and strengthen mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and Argentina, and communicate U.S. foreign policy objectives to the government and people of Argentina. Edward C. Prado, a former appellate judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, was nominated by the President on January 17, 2018, to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the Argentine Republic.

Edward C. Prado is the United States Ambassador to Argentina. He is a former United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Ambassador Prado has been a leader in numerous bar associations in his time as an attorney after having graduated from the University of Texas School of Law.

City of Buenos Aires Legislature is the legislative branch of the City of Buenos Aires under the unicameral logic of 60 deputies, elected by non-cumulative direct vote. Each deputy’s term lasts four years in office and the Legislature is renewed by halves every two years.

The Honorable Francisco Quintana is a FURP member and the current Vice President of the Buenos Aires city legislature. Tuesday, July 23 Rodrigo Bueno is one of the new urbanized neighborhoods in Buenos Aires City. In the neighborhood there are a total of 2,665 people living in 563 homes. On March 23, 2017, Law 5798 was enacted providing for the redevelopment, zoning and social, cultural and urban integration of Barrio Rodrigo Bueno. The government planned the construction of approximately 500 new homes of 2, 3, and 4 rooms and 500 housing improvements. In addition, access to urban infrastructure will be guaranteed, with connections to electricity, water, sewer, and stormwater services.
