Many studies have used housing prices on the Internet real estate information platforms as data sources, but platforms difer in the nature and quality of the data they release. However, few studies have analysed these diferences or their efect on research. In this study, second-hand neighbourhood housing prices and information on fve online real estate information platforms in Guangzhou, China, were comparatively analysed and the performance of neighbourhoods’ raw information from four for-proft online real estate information platforms was evaluated by applying the same housing price model. Te comparison results show that the ofcial second-hand residential housing prices at city and district level are generally lower than those issued on four for- proft real estate websites. -

Journal of Literature and Art Studies, October 2019, Vol. 9, No. 10, 1056-1060 doi: 10.17265/2159-5836/2019.10.007 D DAVID PUBLISHING A Survey on Foreign Tourists’ English Translation of Guangdong Tourism Images CHEN Ying-xi South China Business College Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou, China Metaphor, constituting culture as well as inheriting one, is a way that human beings perceive the world. The study of cognitive metaphor theory in translation illustrates the process how the people construct psychological images from one culture to another, from one language to another. A survey on Chinese to English translation has been conducted among foreigners to see their intuitive understandings of some Guangdong tourism images. The results found out three different familiarity levels of these tourism images and the English translations from the viewpoint of the foreigners. Translation can be done without understanding the actual meanings, and understanding can occur without being able to translate. Keyword: foreign tourists, Guangdong tourism images, metaphor, translation Introduction In trans-cultural communication, understanding each other refers to understanding different cultures and their experiences. It is important to realize and respect the differences among backgrounds, cultures, values, and so on. We live in a world of metaphor. Metaphorical imagination is a crucial skill when creating tacit agreements and communicating non-shared experiences (Lakoff & Johnson, 2015, p. 202). Metaphor is a linguistic phenomenon, but more importantly, a thinking mode. When doing translations from one culture to another, the factor of cognition should be considered (Chen, 2019, pp. 26-27, 35). Cognitive Metaphor and Translation Metaphor translation converts the literal meanings from one language to another. -

This is the the toys and gifts shopping heaven and there is no shortage of everything, it's like an ultra mini trade fair. Around that area you will find a vast areas specializing in stationery, toys, gifts and even dried foods. The goods there are sold mainly in bulk. Of course you can buy in small quantity. But if you just want to buy one or two, their retail price would be much higher than the wholesale price or they may not even want to entertain you. There are up to 12 malls and plazas along the Yi De Lu. Enter it and you will see a lot of plastic,electronics, mechanical and educational toys and kits. -

Record-breaking auction prices make good headlines, but they also confer a value on the artworks that few of their makers would have dreamed possible when those works were originally created— sometimes only a few years ago, in other cases a few decades. It is easy to understand the artists’ surprise at their flourishing market and media success: the secondary auction market for Chinese contemporary art emerged only recently, in 2005, when for the first time Christie’s held a designated Asian Contemporary Art sale in its annual Asian art auctions in Hong Kong. The auctions were a success, including the modern and contemporary sales, which brought in $18 million of the $90 million total; auction benchmarks were set for contemporary artists Zhang Huan, Yan Pei-Ming, Yue Minjun, and many others. Study of Heritage Conservation in Guangzhou Shamian Historic Buildings The Shamian Historic Buildings are a cluster of Western-style buildings constructed by countries such as Britain and France inside the foreign concessions of Guangzhou. These buildings were originally consulates, churches, banks, post offices, telegram offices, firms, hospitals, hotels and residences. The residents at that time were mostly the staff members of the consulates, banks and foreign firms, as well as foreign tax officers and missionaries. The main architectural styles included the British and French colonialist, eclectic and early modernist style. This group of buildings was declared as the first batch of the “National Excellence Modern Building Unit” ( 全國近代優秀建築單位), and was declared a protected site for its historical and cultural value at the national level in 1990 and 1996 respectively. At present these buildings have been progressively adaptively re-used. For instance, the Pallonjee House in South Shamian Street was originally the staff quarters of the Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank, and it is now used as the office of the “Mo Bo-zhi Architectural Firm” (莫伯治建築師事務所).
