SERIES A. SCRAPBOOK MATERIALS AND PHOTOGRAPHS, 1967-1970, no date. This series is composed of photographs and the contents of a magnetic photo album, scrapbook, and loose scrapbook pages. To preserve the contents of the photo album and scrapbooks, the pages were photocopied and the contents were placed in acid-free folders. Most of the photos are unidentified and appear to document Wallace campaign rallies; American Independent Party booths; Wallace supporters; local Wallace campaign offices in the state of ; and Wallace campaign workers. Also included in the series are photographs of George Wallace, news clippings, campaign letters, brochures, fliers, and materials from campaign events. SERIES B. PUBLICATIONS AND CLIPPINGS, 1968-1982, no date This series is made up of campaign publications and news clippings. Subjects covered in the clippings include the 1972 shooting of Wallace; the 1968 presidential campaign in California; Wallace ads; Wallace and his life after the campaign; dissension in the American Independent Party; and editorial cartoons. SERIES C. WALLACE CAMPAIGN INFORMATION KIT, 1968 This series is composed of the contents of the official campaign information kit. The kit includes biographical sketches of Wallace and Curtis E. LeMay; press releases about Wallace and his positions on different topics; the campaign newsletter; and campaign brochures. Also included in this series is additional information, such as how to conduct a telephone presentation on behalf of the Wallace campaign; information on Wallace television spots, and a list of the Wallace campaign offices in California. SERIES D. AMERICAN INDEPENDENT PARTY FILES, 1968-1970, no date This series includes a document entitled “A Brief History of the Organization and Development of California’s American Independent Party, and of the State Party’s Conflict with the National Wallace Campaign.” Also included is a 1968 letter to William K. Shearer asking him to resign as state chairman of the party; a 1970 letter proposing Shearer’s nomination as of California; and a list of registrars for the American Independent Party. SERIES E. CORRESPONDENCE, 1964-1967 This series is composed of a letter to Bob Walters which includes a speech by George Wallace on civil rights and a copy of a letter to Ellen Van Buskirk on what she needed to do as co-chairman of a proposed rally for Wallace. Box 2, Folder 13

SERIES F. CAMPAIGN EPHEMERA, 1967-1970, no date This series consists of campaign ephemera generated by Wallace’s campaign. It includes cards, tickets, brochures, fliers, posters, and bumper stickers. Campaign buttons and other artifacts were separated and sent to the department’s museum collections. SERIES G. AUDIO AND VIDEO MATERIALS, 1968 This series is composed of 45 rpm records, a 16mm film, and a dvd. The film is in very poor condition and has been copied to dvd. The dvd contains a 30-minute infomercial on Wallace’s political platform and his success building a following in California. Entitled “George Wallace and California: The Beginning,” it includes extended clips from a Wallace speech; Wallace sitting in a living room speaking to the camera about his hometown roots; and Wallace speaking to a camera from a podium about what he will do as president. It also shows shots of the Los Angeles area and Wallace meeting people. The dvd also includes four 60-second TV ads for Wallace. The first ad shows him ridiculing intellectuals and discussing ’s early support for Castro. The second ad presents Wallace’s views on school busing, , and foreign aid to “anti-American” countries. The third ad is similar to the second one, but the law and order segment has different visuals and a different script. The fourth ad shows Wallace discussing the .
