(September 24, 2012) 1 These pictures were obtained by the Petitioners from USDA through FOIA requests. Adult female Fox Terrier (microchip number 055 565 377) has an open wound on top of its neck. (September 24, 2012) Emaciated cream- and fawn-colored Chihuahua with microchip number 056 011 344 USDA Licence # 32A0462 Female Boxer with USDA tag #27 has increased discharge adhered to the hair around her right eye USDA Licence # 47A0410 Adult female Bichon with no identification and no name (in enclosure behind house) has a matted hair coat and a swollen eyelid. (March 26, 2014) Female adult Poodle with tag 194 had a matted coat. (March 26, 2014) Adult female Miniature Pincher with no name and no identification has a swelling near her rear end and dental disease. (March 26, 2014) Adult male Chihuahua with tag 145 has an eye problem and dental disease. (March 26, 2014) Female adult Shih Tau with tag 327 with a matted coat. (March 26, 2014) Yorkshire Terrier 148 still has dental disease. Male Shih Tzu 224 with eye problem. USDA Licence # 31A0482 Dental disease in seven year-old, female, Yorkshire Terrier with USDA tag number 15. Thickened, leathery skin on the neck of the six year-old, female, Maltese dog with USDA tag number 31. Left eye of the five year-old, female Shih Tzu with USDA tag number 039. USDA Licence # 46A0394 A white female (ID#94) with buildup of brown material on cheek/canine tooth. left side. (September 4, 2013) A female black Pug (ID# 197) with yellowish discharge coming from both eyes. (September 4, 2013) A female (ID#91) "Goofy eyes", right eye, with reddish material intertwined around the eye ball. (September 4, 2013) A male Pomeranian (ID#195) with buildup of brownish material with gray discharge on left side. (September 4, 2013) USDA Licence # 71A0676 Adult female Pomeranian, #064619330, needs to be evaluated by he attending veterinarian. The animal has drainage from both eyes and green / gray matter on canines, gums and molars. (March 6, 2014) Pomeranian, #020610346, has green goopy matter in both eyes, green & black matter on all teeth and gums. The upper caine [sic] tooth on the right was bleeding. The animal needs to be evaluated. In the northern most set of outdoor ground enclosures there is a Yorkshire Terrier, non-readable chip, who had a circular white area in the center of her eye. The animal needs to be evaluated. Male Pomeranian, #051309259, excessively salivating, no teeth and the jaw bone on left partially missing and detached from the gums with the bone exposed. There are mats and discharge around the eyes and the mats on the face are dirty and moist. Female tricolor Pomeranian with no identification ("Pixie") had dental disease and hair loss/bare skin. Male adult Pomeranian with no identification ("Skippy") has dental disease. Adult female Bichon with no identification ("Harriet") has dental disease and a matted hair coat. Male adult Dachshund with no identification ("Herman") has dental disease and long toe nails. From the records that wete able to be viewed. inspectors found that from May 27, 201 110 August S, 201 1 et least 44 puppies, (numbers 11.085 to 11·139 on the phOtogmphOd rocOtdS}, wera listed with !hell physical doscrlptfons and blrthdatos. AJ tho time of this pre·license inspection, none of these puppies wero ovailabkl to be viewed Ot examined. The applicant's wife stated that she thought that she didn't need to keep dlsposlllon records of the puppies during lh& time that Sh& was unlicensed. One disposition sheet was found for 8 puppies (11·89through 11·96) bu1 no buyer was listed. A USDA license ls fequ.red to sell puppies to o bfotwr. Dogs nnd p~les that are sold wholesale need to be able to be inspected, examined, and tracked to onsure tholr health, safety, and well-being. This female also had an abnotmal amoum ol a dOtk, crusted substance on the right side of her face, ears, and under her eye5. The inspectOfs asked the applicant to piCk up the dog so ltle condition of her teeth could be txrunlned. When the dog·s lip was raised, to enable a bener vtew ot her teeth, it was noliOed that the dog's IOWOf jaw moved freety with minimal pressure. When asked about the Ja w, the applicant stated that the veterinarian had told thom that the jaw was broken bvt didn't "realty say anything abOut il''. ...A female dlihuahua {no 10 tag), In the main building on the top row on lhO right side, seoond enclosure in, was observed to be limping on her right fronlleg.

    A Barbet is a Barbet is a Barbet FCI/SCC standard: 105 (21.02.2006) The Barbet is qualified by the Société Central Canine as a rare French breed due to the fact that there are less than 50 births per year in France. It has never been a widespread breed. However there are many Barbet -type dogs in France. It is a major contributor to the French canine patrimony due to the amount of breeds that contain Barbet blood in their veins. The Barbet is known as the specialist in retrieving fowl in thick reed and swimming in extreme temperatures. It is the canis aviarius aquaticus par excellence. It has natural retrieving instinct. The Barbet was named in France for the first time by Jacques du Fouilloux in the 16th century. It is qualified as a very “undistinguished” and rustic dog. The Barbet is THE French Water Dog and part of the bigger family of water dogs, of the SCC ( Société Central Canine) 8th group, which includes the Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch water dogs and several water Spaniels. However, it is not a Spaniel. France is the only country where the water dog has an official name: “BARBET’. The water dogs that exist in other countries do not bear that particular name for their breed. The 8th group does not include the Hungarian water dog, or Puli, considered a shepherd. A second name for the Barbet was: Griffon d’arrêt à Poil Laineux (wooly-haired pointer) or Griffon Boulet, now extinct, which ressembled the Barbet. It only existed in brown.

The FCI classification is found at http://www.fci.be/nomenclature.aspx, and at the top level is: Group 1 Sheepdogs and Cattle Dogs (except Swiss Cattle Dogs) Group 2 Pinscher and Schnauzer - Molossoid Breeds - Swiss Mountain and Cattle Dogs Group 3 Terriers Group 4 Dachshunds Group 5 Spitz and Primitive types Group 6 Scenthounds and Related Breeds Group 7 Pointing Dogs Group 8 Retrievers - Flushing Dogs - Water Dogs Group 9 Companion and Toy Dogs Group 10 Sighthounds 1 The American Kennel Club (AKC) arrangement, followed by Dewey, is very different at the top level: Sporting Group 636.752 Hound Group 636.753 Working Group 636.73 Terrier Group 636.755 Toy Group 636.76 Non-Sporting Group 636.72 Herding Group 636.737 Miscellaneous Class (breeds which have not yet been put into the other groups) (The order given here is that on the AKC’s webpage, http://www.akc.org/breeds/index.cfm?nav_area=breeds ) The situation is made more complex because 636.72-636.76 contain several references to breeds as “(United Kingdom)” as a shortcut for saying that this group is one of the groupings of the Kennel Club of the United Kingdom (KC).

Interested in issues related to, buying a puppy or which breeder to choose etc. All Questions are very important and show not only in an interest but also in healthy responsibility that should be encouraged. There are no stupid questions and all questions seek an answer even those that can not be an- swered. Only now is it possible for us to receive a dog in the best way. We are choosing between a Softi and a Barbet. I stumbled across an ad on Barbets and immediately fell for their appearance and description! But there will always be questions when reading around various sites. What is your opinion of the suitability of a Barbet in a family with children? Existing grooming, exercise needs, etc? What I’ve read so it is a good-natured dog who learn well if one’s handle is politely but firmly, need of exercise, but how very often / per day / in what form?     AKC Education Webinar Series: FSS/Miscellaneous Questions and Answers 1. Can an FSS Parent Club offer an ATT Test? If the Parent Club is licensed to hold any event, it may offer an ATT Test. 2. For a domestically evolving breed that started with an independent registry for 20 years, then accepted into UKC for an additional 20 years, can these two be combined to qualify for the 40 years required to be considered into FSS, or must the 40 be done within the same registry body? The history of a breed having a registry for a minimum of 40 years can be merged as described, staff will review to determine if it would meet the parameters required. 3. Does AKC have reciprocity with UKC? AKC has open registration with individual breeds with that are registered by UKC. A breed requesting to be enrolled in the AKC FSS based upon UKC recognition would have reciprocity, if it meets the number of years being in existence, until the breed becomes AKC recognized. At which time the individual breeds may request to keep the studbook open for UKC registered dogs. 4. Is it a good practice to submit all of the required data to AKC in one PDF electronically to FSS as a final submission, once all criteria is met for the ease of processing? The FSS Department keeps track of required data, meeting minutes maybe a PDF, the other requirements need to be in different formats. Breed Standard needs to be a word document, membership list needs to be in an Excel as provided.
