HOLLYWOOD wild man Colin Farrell is always up for a big challenge - but this may pitta them all.

His favourite takeaway Abra-kebabra has come up with an 18in monster meal which may leave him feeling more like a heart attack than a heart-throb.

The Abra Wand - 2lb and an artery-clogging 2,000 calories - is guaranteed to satisfy anyone feeling more than a bit peckish.

Mountain

Once devourers have tucked into a mountain of kebab meat, they can move on to no less than two quarter pounders stuffed with cheese, bacon, garlic mayonnaise and chilli sauce.

Still feeling hungry? Don't worry, the Abra Wand - which will cost Euro 18 - comes with pitta bread, chips and a fizzy drink to wash down all that fat oozing out of the food.

Not that 29-year-old Colin and his celebrity chums will have to worry about the price.

The enterprising fast-food chain has handed Goldcards promising "kebabs for life" to the Alexander star along with the likes of 's , and Corrie star .

The creation, which will leave medical experts screaming for health warnings, was dreamt up by a company boss who discovered punters were coming back for SECONDS after wolfing down their food.

Patrick Leahy, 31, said: "I was at the amount of customers who would come back into the restaurant for more.

"I play rugby and a lot of my team-mates are big guys.

"They would eat one kebab then order another ten minutes later because they were still hungry.

"I defy anyone to complain about being hungry after eating one of these new meals.

"It is so big there should be plenty left for breakfast in the morning."

Androne Oxane, manager of the South Anne Street branch in - where Colin is a regular - can't wait to see the star's reaction when the UK treat goes on sale here too.

She said: "He loves our kebabs but I'm not sure how he would manage with one that is 18 inches."

THE world's biggest fast-food meal is a 15lb monster called the Belly Buster. The US feast contains 10lb of ground beef, 25 slices of processed cheese and 20,000 calories.

EX-ATOMIC Kitten star Kerry Katona has given up booze after a spell in rehab.

The troubled I'm A Celebrity winner says she is now teetotal after developing a drink problem in the past year.

She went into rehab this summer to be treated for depression after a nervous breakdown following the break-up of her marriage to former Westlife singer Brian McFadden, 25.

Mum-of-two Kerry, 25, right, said: "I was drinking quite a bit. It was part of the depression - a way to get away from things.

"I used to drink shots - those cocktail shooters. Murder. It would be a case of sometimes waking up and not being able to remember stuff."

Kerry added: "I went out the other day and stuck to water. It was so funny, looking at everyone thinking, 'Oh my God, you're making idiots of yourselves'."

After weeks in the Cottonwood clinic in Arizona she remains on anti-depressants but says she plans to wed boyfriend Dave Cunningham, 25.

She said: "It's a blessing Brian left or I would never have got together with Dave. I had good times with Brian but I've never been this happy."

JORDAN'S wedding is being snubbed by a host of stars she wanted at the bash.

The glamour girl sent out naff scrolls, right, inviting dozens of celebrities to watch her get hitched to singer Peter Andre, 32, on Saturday.

But nearly all said no and it could jeopardise a Pounds 1million magazine deal for rights to report on the couple, left, tying the knot.

Big-boobed model Jordan, 27, is facing a double blow after CHARLOTTE CHURCH pulled out of singing at the wedding -leaving her with X Factor loser as the "star" performer.

Other big names who have turned down the invite to the tacky bash include SHANE RICHIE, , and DAVINA McCALL.

A pal said last night: "It's a mess. Jordan promised the magazine she would get loads of celebrity mates along to the wedding as part of her deal with them.

"But the fact is she doesn't really have many celebrity mates.

"She's been sending invites to people she's never met in desperation but nobody wants to go.

"It's probably going to be the naffest event of the year.

"Unless she rustles some stars up in the next few days, it's going to be really embarrassing for her.

"And the magazine may not want to pay as much as Pounds 1million when they realise they're not going to get pictures of big stars."

Charlotte Church, 19, pulled out of the wedding after deciding to perform at the Mardi Gras festival in Cardiff instead. She has been replaced with D-lister Rowetta.

Charlotte told The Sun: "I wrote her a nice note to say sorry, though."

Jordan -real name -will, however, still have I'm A Celebrity pal KERRY KATONA and star as bridesmaids.

Former EastEnders actor DEAN GAFFNEY is also rumoured to be turning up. But dozens of others are not so keen. Shane Richie, 41, told The Sun: "I'd rather get my **** caught in the fridge door then go to Jordan's wedding, to be honest. I don't even know them."

Lily Savage star PAUL O'GRADY, 50, said: "I don't like family weddings at the best of times so I'm not going to the wedding of someone I don't know." Denise Van Outen, 31, said she would not be attending the wedding, at posh Highclere Castle, Berks, because her only meeting with Jordan lasted seconds.

Big Brother presenter Davina McCall, 37, said: "I really hope she is very happy but I'm not going to be rushing along."

And Radio One DJ , 31, joked: "I sadly can't make it because I'm working at a soup kitchen for the homeless that weekend. It'll be more fun."

Page 12 of 125 © 2016 Factiva, Inc. All rights reserved. Even X Factor judge Simon Cowell, 45, who is pals with Jordan and backed her entry in the , is giving it a wide berth. He said: "I have been invited but I won't be around."

Singer , 27, said: "I can't go because I'm working.

"I'm buying her a curry for a present to say sorry though."

When babe PATSY KENSIT, 37, was asked if she would be there, she replied: "Oh, God, no. I mean, good luck to her but I like to spend my weekends with my children."

Insania singer Peter proposed to Jordan last summer.

It has been rumoured the wedding cake will be a replica of the blushing bride's 32FF breasts.

Jordan will also break the world record for longest train on a bridal gown with a 2,550ft effort.

And she will arrive in a Cinderella-style horse-drawn carriage.

THE Sun trawled the showbiz world for guests willing to attend the wedding. This is how three, left to right below, reacted.

Comedian STAN BOARDMAN said: "I'll turn up. Just tell me how much dough they're offering."

Ex-Coronation Street star KEN MORLEY, 62, said: "Jordan's breasts are actually larger than mine, so we'd make a fine pair."

Comic BERNARD MANNING said: "I'd be delighted. There are two big things I like about her."

BRIAN McFadden's court battle against driving charges was put back for a FOURTH time yesterday.

The pop star is accused of speeding in a 70mph zone, careless driving and driving without due care and attention on a motorway.

The offences are alleged to have happened back in September 2002.

McFadden, left, was due to face the charges at Balbriggan District Court yesterday.

Dozens of eager fans turned up hoping for a glimpse of the ex-Westlife singer. But he wasn't there as his barrister Kieran Kelly applied to adjourn the case until October 13.

Judge Cormac Dunne agreed to the delay, which had the backing of gardai.

Twins

If the State is unable to go ahead with the case before the end of this year, the judge will be within his rights to strike out all the charges.

The offences are said to have taken place on the M1 at Rowan's Big, Balbriggan.

But the case was adjourned firstly in March 2004 because a woman witness was due to give birth to twins - and McFadden was going on tour with Westlife.

Last October the case was put back again because the prosecuting cop was on sick leave.

McFadden then slammed the legal system as "a joke". But in April this year the case was put back to yesterday's date at the request of McFadden's legal team.

McFadden, 25, had been planning to jet out to America last week to join his girlfriend Delta Goodrum on tour.

But it is thought his lawyer told him to stay in Ireland for the court case.

Sparkler

The singer - who is currently recovering from a knee op - is planning a permanent move to New York to live with Delta.

But he plans to go to England at Christmas to see his daughters, Lilly, two, and Molly, four.

Meanwhile their mum Kerry Katona was this week spotted wearing a sparkler on her wedding finger.

Boyfriend Dave Cunningham gave her the three-diamond ring as a birthday gift.

THESE are the cheesy thrones that Jordan and Peter Andre sat on at their over-the-top chav wedding of the year.

The 3ft pink and gilt seats set the tone for Saturday's bash - photos of which the couple sold to a celeb magazine for an estimated Pounds 400,000.

Busty model Jordan - real name Katie Price - arrived in a Cinderella-style coach at Highclere Castle, Berks, and wore a tight pink dress covered in fake diamonds.

An insider at the bash said: "The whole event was an incredible spectacle, from the outrageous pink thrones to Jordan's outfit.

"She couldn't walk properly and it took four bridesmaids to help her sit down. She could have used some advice on good taste."

At the reception Jordan, 27, and pop star Peter, 32, smooched to a recording of themselves singing A Whole New World from Disney film Aladdin. The insider added: "They spent half their time mooning into each other's eyes, and the other half making sure the mag had taken the pictures."

AT least the bride and groom, below, were happy - more than can be said for some guests. Paul Gascoigne, 38, stood swaying with wine stains on his shirt as he tried to pull Girls Aloud beauty Sarah Harding, 23. And TV's Kerry Katona, 25, spent ages crying in the toilets after rowing with on-off fella Dave Cunningham.

JORDAN and Peter Andre's big day on Saturday took celebrity weddings to a new level of naffness.

From the Cinderella carriage with white horses that carried the bride, to her tight pink frock, the chav extravaganza of the year was trimmed with tackiness.

Of course, no gaudy wedding is complete without a good bust-up

That vital role fell to Hell's Kitchen star , 22, and her fiance Tony Richardson.

During the speeches Tony, 26, picked a scrap with Jordan's agent Claire Powell - who had masterminded the huge bash at Highclere Castle, Berks.

Until late last week Claire also represented Jennifer, but the pair went their separate ways on Friday - and it seems Tony had some scores to settle.

He stormed over and guests heard him yell: "You've ruined my Jen's career!"

Guests including Kerry Katona, Paul Gascoigne and Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding listened in horror to his foul-mouthed rant.

And when Claire's sister tried to get involved, he shouted: "Keep your nose out of it, you fat ****."

In keeping with the cheesy do, it was beefy Z-lister Phil Turner from daytime DIY show House Invaders who grabbed Tony and hauled him away. An onlooker said: "It created a major disturbance at a crucial point in the celebrations - Jordan's stepdad Paul was just making his speech.

Trouble

"Tony was threatened with being kicked out but Jordan didn't want any more trouble."

Last night Jennifer's spokesman confirmed the incident.

He said: "She went to the wedding to support Peter and Jordan, even though she has fallen out with the agent. But she was asked to pose for loads of pictures and she refused. She told Tony the agent was hassling her, so he decided to defend her honour."

Ah, the joys of a taste-free celebrity wedding.

Paul Gascoigne and his now ex-wife Sheryl were credited with beginning the trend when they signed their Pounds 150,000 Hello! deal in 1996. Since then a host of stars have financed flashy affairs with the fat chequebooks of OK! and Hello! magazines.

A SEXY nursery nurse has thanked Fran Cosgrave - for helping her get a new pair of BOOBS.

Gemma Morris, 19, scooped Euro 7,400 in January after being picked by hunky Fran on reality show Fool Around With a Celebrity.

She spent the cash boosting her 34B assets to 34DD - and yesterday returned to thank him on his latest telly programme Hot Tub Ranking.

Gemma said afterwards: "I felt gorgeous strutting out in my bikini - and it was great to show off my boobs on TV.

"I spoke to Fran before I went on and he gave me loads of encouragement!

"He said he couldn't wait to tune in when the show is broadcast."

The pair first met on show Fool Around - when Fran had to spot which one of his four sexy housemates was single.

After days of game-playing - including kissing contests and a lap-dancing competition - Fran correctly picked Gemma and the pair got to share the Pounds 10,000 (Euro 14,800) prize.

Mirror

Nightclub boss Fran later invited the bubbly blonde to show off her boob job on his new reality game show - set to be shown from this Friday for six weeks on Channel Five.

And lucky Gemma won again!

The aim of Hot Tub Ranking is to find out "who's hot and who's not".

In each show five girls are challenged to rank parts of their bodies in order of sex appeal.

Unknown to them, five guys are giving their verdict from behind a secret two-way mirror at the same time.

If the answers match, the girls win a hefty cash prize of up to Pounds 15,000 (Euro 22,300).

Gemma came away yesterday with the most money after correctly guessing how lads would rate her face. boobs and bum.

The Liverpool lass admitted she got on well with Fran, who has dated a string of beauties including Jodie Marsh, Kerry Katona and Atomic Kitten Natasha Hamilton.

But Gemma insisted she did NOT fancy him.

She said: "Fran and I got on really well, but I don't really fancy him.

All rights reserved. THE SUN has had a close-up look at the tough rehab clinic Kate Moss has fled to to beat her drug demons.

And its regime is a world away from the glamour of the catwalk that is Moss's natural home.

She is paying Pounds 2,250 a night to stay at The Meadows clinic in the middle of the Arizona desert in America. It boasts of "mountain views and clear skies" but her stay promises to be hard.

Patients are denied luxuries and Kate, who normally doesn't get out of bed for less than Pounds 10,000, will be expected to rise at 6am and be tucked up again by 10pm.

The Meadows is a Level I Psychiatric Acute Hospital which follows a version of the recognised "12-Step Programme" which is tailored for every patient.

Patients make their own beds, meals are sugar and caffeine free and friends and family are only allowed to visit on Sundays. The clinic is sparsely decorated and bans patients from making phone calls and smoking cigarettes.

It also embraces New Age philosophy. Patients can spend a night in the desert with a Navajo native American medicine man, who waves a white feather in the air to symbolise them letting go of emotional baggage.

A host of famous names have been attracted to the clinic.

Previous patients include Paul Gascoigne, Michael Barrymore, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, Kerry Katona, Elle Macpherson, Whitney Houston and ex-Corrie star Tracy Shaw.

After her treatment, Tara said: "It was one of the hardest things that I have ever done. There are no comforts."

Drug addicts are encouraged to admit the mistakes they have made and list the people they have harmed.

Control

They also need to realise that they have no control over their habit.

The Meadows was founded by director Pat Mellody in 1978. Pat, 72, and wife Pia have developed the intensive 12-step treatment programme.

Pat claims the atmosphere is supportive and says: "I didn't like the way treatment was done in this country.

"I saw a lot of disrespect for patients. Counsellors thought you had to tear someone down and build them back up again. You always have to be more supportive than confrontational.

"The patient should understand that what you were attacking was the disease, not the patient."

Kate, 31, will, however, be able to try treatments including acupuncture, art therapy, tai chi, yoga and stretching classes.

Many of the staff have been addicts themselves. The clinic's information explains: "Recovery is a path that many of the staff personally walk."

The 70-bed clinic also offers treatment for sex addiction - both male and female.

Page 32 of 125 © 2016 Factiva, Inc. All rights reserved. The Meadows is based in the town of Wickenburg which now has five clinics treating a variety of disorders and addictions.

According to Pat Mellody, this is Kate's best chance to get clean of drugs.

He says: "My goal has always been to give every patient the best treatment in the world."

THE GOOD REHAB GUIDE

The Priory. LONDON'S oldest psychiatric hospital is set in seven acres of landscaped grounds and concealed from prying eyes in a lane in the leafy, smart suburb of Roehampton.

The centre tries to play down its celebrity tag but behind its walls a handful of A-listers experience the "tough love" regime.

Guests, as patients are called, pay Pounds 650 a night for bed, nursing, food and group therapy. They pay extra for one-to-one therapy.

FAMOUS GUESTS: Kate Moss - in 1998 for exhaustion, Kerry Katona, Brian McFadden.

Caroline Aherne, Marti Pellow and Eric Clapton.

Thamkrabok Monastery. THIS rehab clinic in Thailand has been dubbed the world's toughest.

It was started in 1959 by the Thai government to stem a rising number of opium addicts. Seventy per cent of patients never touch drugs again.

Monks force guests to say a Buddhist vow before they start treatment promising never to take drugs again.

They sleep in dorms on steel beds and are woken at 5am when they have to sing the Thai national anthem then sweep up leaves. They have their heads shaved and are forced to drink medicine which makes them vomit.

FAMOUS GUESTS: Pete Doherty - but he only lasted three days.

Clouds. THE stately home in the wilds of Wiltshire is famed for its discretion.

Less bling than the Priory, patients bond over art therapy classes while they battle their demons.

Clouds is most famous for kicking Paula Yates out after she fraternised with another guest.

A week at the 38-bed clinic costs around Pounds 1,000 and everyone shares a room with someone else.

All residents attend the crucial morning group therapy sessions as well as regular one-on-one sessions with a counsellor.

KERRY Katona vowed her wild days are over as she revealed her new baby joy.

The mum of two, 25, showed off her swelling tummy after attending a parents' evening at daughter Molly's school.

And as beaming childhood sweetheart Dave Cunningham looked on, she proudly told The Sun's snapper: "Guess what? I'm pregnant.

"I'm wearing a little top to show my belly. We're on the guestlist for a nightclub later -but I'm swapping that for a healthy night in now I've another one on the way."

Ex-Atomic Kitten Kerry, who be-came the UK's favourite mum after winning TV's I'm A Celebrity, faced agony last year when she split from pop star hubby Brian McFadden.

They have been at war over custody of girls Molly, four, and Lilly, two pictured with Brian, below.

Shattered Kerry was later admitted to the Priory clinic and flew to another in Arizona to beat depression. An ex-pal later claimed she took cocaine, but Kerry denies this.

Now the singer, who recently quit booze, has found love with decorator Dave, 25, a childhood pal in their hometown of Warrington, . She said: "Dave's one of my best friends. I'm very lucky to fall in love with my best friend."

PETE DOHERTY will jet to America this week to visit KATE MOSS in rehab as he bids to save their relationship.

But her family and friends are furious, saying the junkie BABYSHAMBLES frontman is the last person she needs to see.

Pete was always determined to meet with supermodel Kate after the band's UK tour finished.

It ended prematurely last Thursday when Pete cancelled the remaining three dates.

He has not set eyes on Kate since she was exposed as a massive cocaine user in New York last month.

Those closest to the model want him to stay away from the Meadows clinic in Arizona, where she is in drug rehab.

Pete's uncle let slip the singer was preparing to jet to the US.

Phil Michels also said Kate's ex JEFFERSON HACK, the father of her daughter Lila Grace, three, has already visited her.

Phil speaks to Pete every week and his nephew told him: "I can't wait to see Kate.

"I know Jefferson has been to see her already but she is not bothered about him.

"I have told her that as soon as the tour has finished I will be there. She is only allowed one visitor a day."

Phil added: "Pete told me they are still very much an item and in love.

"He is just sex, drugs and rock'n'roll. That's why Kate likes him."

Snorting

Kate agreed to check into rehab after she was pictured chopping up lines of coke and snorting them in Pete's recording studio.

She tried to lie low and ride out the storm.

But when top fashion houses -including Burberry and Chanel -dropped her, Kate wanted to be seen to do something about her drug habit. She began a 30-day, Pounds 20,000 course. Fellow supermodel ELLE MACPHERSON was treated at the Meadows for post natal depression.

And KERRY KATONA and TARA PALMER-TOMKINSON have both had therapy there, too.

A source close to Kate's concerned family confided last night: "Her mum Linda wants her to get back with Jefferson.

"She and the rest of family realise how much Kate loves Pete but they blame him for the mess she's in now."

I can think of only one reason why Pete should take a trip to the Meadows -to check into rehab himself.

SEXY was shaken and stirred last night when bookies made her 20-1 to be the next Bond girl.

She's among SEVEN Irish lasses in the betting to star opposite hunky new 007 Daniel Craig.

Drogheda-born Pierce Brosnan might have lost the keys to his flash BMW Z8.

But punters can have a flutter on one of our beauties providing the glamour in the next Bond blockbuster Casino Royale.

Bookies Boylesports are giving 20-1 odds for Samantha, left, and Brian McFadden's estranged wife Kerry Katona.

Girls Aloud stunner is 66-1 with beauty Grainne Seoige at 80-1.

Model Glenda Gilsen, girlfriend of rugby hunk Brian O'Driscoll, is 100-1 - the same odds as RTE girl Caroline Morahan.

Irish model Amanda Brunker is 150-1 and Ronan Keating's gorgeous wife Yvonne 300-1.

But all our stunners have a helluva fight on their hands if they want to bag the plum role.

That's because Jude Law's ex Sienna Miller is the favourite at 6-4.

Manchester United star Wayne Rooney's shopaholic girlfriend Colleen McLoughlin limped into the running at 500-1. But cocaine crisis supermodel Kate Moss is on the list at 80-1.

Much-loved British actress Dame Judi Dench, who played M in the movies, said she had no idea Brosnan was being replaced by new Bond Daniel Craig.

Craig's mum blurted out the news about her son before it was officially announced.

Tough

Dame Judi said: "I didn't know until his mother blurted it out the other day!"

Layer Cake star Craig will be the sixth actor to play the gung-ho secret agent.

He admits Brosnan played a big part in helping him go for the legendary role.

But he's also under no illusions. "Pierce is going to be a tough act to follow but I plan to make the Bond role my own," he said.

BRONZED Kerry Katona got her jugs out on the beach - to share a holiday cocktail with her girlie pals.

The busty ex of Brian McFadden showed her girls how to have fun as they hit the beach bar in the Spanish resort of Marbella.

And boy did she need cooling off - the Jungle Queen had just had a massage from a Russian beach masseur who rubbed oil all over her body.

Enhanced Not content with cheering up one lad's day she made quite a few others when she whipped off her stripey bikini after it failed to cover up her recently enhanced 32FF boobs.

She got fed up adjusting it and flung it on the sand.

One male fan even plucked up the courage to chat to the ex-Atomic Kitten singer - and was rewarded when she put his phone number in her mobile when he gave her his card.

But although she was getting more than just Tequilas to Sunrise from her admirers, the cocktail- supping Kerry was behaving herself.

And her boyfriend Dave Cunningham was not far away - he was playing a round of golf.

That's nice. I hope it stays fine for them.

Even with Euro 34billion of your money and mine to help them along, it's not going to work. You could add a zero to that figure and the entire thing would still be a disaster.

That's just the way it is, I'm afraid. Still, the least we should do is give them a fair hearing. So here goes.

For starters, there's apparently going to be a Metro line connecting Dublin Airport with the city centre.

Then there will be an orbital motorway surrounding the city.

Most of the 's rail facilities - the Dart, Luas and proposed Metro services - will be linked.

People in and Galway are being promised extra commuter rail services. And there'll be a new road stretching from Donegal down to Waterford.

Oh, and the M50 will be finished within five years.

Now it all sounds fine. But I wonder what odds Paddy Power is offering on all of this. Maybe if we were living in Germany or a Scandinavian country then there would be a chance of at least some of this happening as described and on schedule.

As things stand, there's a better chance of Kerry Katona walking away with the Miss Classy Bird of the Year title.

It doesn't take an Einstein to work out that it's quite a good idea to have a rail link between the airport and central Dublin.

Expensive

Yet the last I remember, Martin Cullen's predecessor was saying it would be too expensive. So they hatched a hare-brained plan to run a line that stopped on the fringes of the city centre.

Some genius has now decided that it would be a good idea to integrate transport services in the capital. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it only a year or so since the long-awaited Luas service started?

And didn't everyone say that it would make sense to have a city centre link between the two lines?

Of course, they didn't do it. But they're going to do it now, though. And it is going to cost us a fortune, predictably.

Most bizarrely of all, the hub will be an underground station at St Stephen's Green.

The one slight hiccup is that businesses around Dawson Street - one of the city's most exclusive thoroughfares - will have to shut up shop for three or four years.

So that's all right then.

Let's not even talk about the proposed motorway loop around Dublin. We all know what a balls-up they made of the M50, so there's no point in depressing ourselves further.

Page 45 of 125 © 2016 Factiva, Inc. All rights reserved. That said, none of this bothers me that much on a personal level. Call me old-fashioned, but I'm a card-carrying pedestrian and I'll apologise to no one for that.

Many years ago, having realised that the transport system was an utter shambles, I made a conscious decision always to live within walking distance of wherever I wanted or needed to go.

Besides, there's always buses or taxis. That said, as bad as the snarl-ups are in Dublin, the authorities have done little to encourage people to leave their cars at home.

Yes, the bus service has improved - but there wasn't much scope for it getting worse.

As for the taxi situation, you still can't get one for love nor money at closing time or when the rain comes down.

The bottom line is that public transport in Ireland - particularly outside Dublin - is an absolute disgrace.

We'll see what this ten-year plan brings but I, for one, am not holding my breath.

For a long time, it has looked like the Government's transport plans were scribbled down on a beermat at closing time. But I didn't realise until now that the Cabinet had been on the hard stuff since opening time.

Showbiz legends jet over

LIGHTS, camera...action! Stars from across the globe are set to hit the red carpet at the Irish Film and Television Awards tonight.

Home-grown celebrities will battle it out with Hollywood A-listers for the prestigious prizes - dubbed the Irish Oscars.

Guests at the glitzy ceremony in Dublin will include veteran actresses Vanessa Redgrave and Sinead Cusack, The OC star Mischa Barton, model Caprice and TV's Kerry Katona.

Murphy's Law star will present the bash at the RDS in Ballsbridge - while will be providing the musical entertainment.

And singer Andrea Corr, ex-Miss World Rosanna Davison and newsgirl Grainne Seoige will also be there proudly keeping up the Irish front.

Sky News anchor Grainne is facing a close struggle with Ireland AM host Mark Cagney for the O2 TV Personality of the Year.

Bookies have given the pair NECK-AND-NECK odds of 6/4 each to scoop the gong.

But Galway girl Grainne is hoping it will be third time lucky for her - after being nominated each year since the awards were launched in 2003.

Spectacular

Other rivals include Limerick funnyman Pat Shortt - whose hit comedy show Killinascully has topped telly ratings.

BBC NI presenter Stephen Nolan and TG4's Aoife Ni Thuaraisg are also in the running.

And that isn't the only gong glamorous Grainne is hoping to bag.

The brunette beauty - who will be wearing a gown by top Irish designer Sharon Cunningham - is also up for the Best Dressed title.

Other nominees include TG4's Aoife - who has splashed out on a spectacular Vera Wang dress for the black-tie event in a bid to wow judges.

There will be some harsh style critics on hand to deliver verdicts on the stars' outfits - with Off The Rails presenters Caroline Morahan and Pamela Flood due to trawl the red carpet.

Under particular scrutiny will be international trend-setter Mischa Barton, who is jetting over all the way from Hollywood especially for the event.

The 19-year-old showbiz sweetheart - whose mum Nuala is from Ireland - will also be presenting a gong.

Travel presenter Kathryn Thomas is another style leader planning to pull out all the stops for the glamorous event. Page 48 of 125 © 2016 Factiva, Inc. All rights reserved. Corrs frontwoman Andrea is also hoping to be a success in the fashion stakes. And the Dundalk singer is hoping to do equally well in the fight for the Best Actress title - for her role in comic musical The Boys From County Clare.

Meanwhile Shameless star Anne Marie Duff is also aiming to snag her second Best TV Actress gong for her role as Fiona in the hit Channel 4 series.

Anne is currently wowing telly viewers with her portrayal of Elizabeth I in The Virgin Queen.

Coronation Street star Sally Lindsay - who plays battered barmaid Shelley - will be among the audience cheering on the hyped-up nominees. Other top Irish celebs at the ceremony will include Proof star Orla Brady - who recently appeared on controversial US show Nip/Tuck - and Breakfast On Pluto actress Eva Birthistle.

Highlights

Russian actress Tatianna Ouliankina, of Fair City fame, will also tread the red carpet.

And The Clinic stars Aisling O'Sullivan and Rachel Pilkington, who play Cathy and Keelin in the GP drama, will be there as their show is up for three gongs. Awards host Nesbitt is also up for the Best TV Actor title for his role in UTV crime drama Murphy's Law.

And 76-year-old actor David Kelly - who stars as Grandpa Jo in Tim Burton's Willy Wonka remake, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory - will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The celeb-packed ceremony will be broadcast live on RTE 1 at 9.30pm tonight.

The programme will include red carpet highlights as well as the ceremony.

Over 1,000 guests have paid Euro 250 each to attend the sell-out showbiz extravaganza. As well as the chance to rub shoulders with a galaxy of stars, that price includes a delicious five-course banquet and a non-stop supply of wine.

Revellers will also knock back potent Jameson whiskey cocktails and an unlimited supply of Pommery champagne.

So it won't just be the award winners who will end the evening in a bubbly mood!

A PANEL of the nation's top film and TV critics chose the nominees - and winners - in 30 categories.

KERRY Katona belted her boyfriend in the face as he begged her to leave a lap- dancing club at 3am.

The ex-Atomic Kitten, 25 -on a Spanish holiday with lover Dave Cunningham in Marbella -snapped after he enjoyed a private dance with a stripper.

She demanded one too. A pal said last night: "Dave didn't want her going off by herself with one of the girls and said 'No'.

"He told her he wanted to go back to their villa, grabbed her wrists -and she slapped him." Dave, 25, stormed off. The couple, who plan to wed, made up next day.

PR guru pal Max Clifford said: "They were both very tired and emotional."

KERRY Katona swaps punches with her lover in the street yesterday - to show their rocky romance is still ON.

The ex-Atomic Kitten star, 25, jokingly staged a mock fight with printer Dave Cunningham after reports that the couple had split.

Then they shared a cuddle and a kiss outside Kerry's home in Warrington, Cheshire, before assuring onlookers their relationship was "fine".

The Sun revealed on Saturday how Kerry had slapped 26-year-old Dave after a boozy bust-up in a Spanish lapdancing bar. And yesterday it was reported the pair had split amid claims that he hit HER in the same venue, knocking her unconscious.

But last night Kerry insisted: "All this about us splitting is a load of rubbish."

Dave said: "I don't know where all this stuff is coming from, but it's not true."

Features How to avoid hair scares;Sun woman Caroline Palmer 474 words 8 November 2005 The Sun THESUN 36 English © 2005 News Group Newspapers Ltd. All rights reserved. MORE and more celebs are taking the plunge and going for a drastic new hairstyle.

Charlotte Church, right, and Sienna Miller, left, have both opted for bobs, Kerry Katona's swapped her blonde locks for brunette and Catherine Zeta Jones sported a fringe recently.

But before you follow in their footsteps and go for a dramatic new style, here's celebrity hairstylist Richard Ward's top tips on how to avoid a hair disaster.

Richard says: Hair is the most image changing thing we can do to ourselves. It can rejuvenate and make you look younger like no face lift can, but remember the golden rules...

1. Check your skin tone and eye colour -warm or cool?

If you are going to change your hair colour, determine whether your skin and eyes have a warm or cool tone. Your hairdresser should be able to advise. Get it right and it can take years away, get it wrong and it will add them on.

2. Face shape -discuss this with your stylist.

Draw an outline on some tracing paper round your face in a photograph -then see which areas are more pronounced.

These are the ones you need to hide. If you have a heavy jawline, for instance, steer clear of geometric bobs which will only accentuate this feature.

3. Your lifestyle is important!

A good stylist will ask questions about how time-consuming you want a new style to be and ensure whatever you agree on will fit in with your lifestyle.

Don't go for a labour- intensive, high-maintenance look for example if you simply don't have time to "do" your hair every day. Some looks are just easy, ready-to-wear cuts and some require a lot more time and visits to the salon for re- touching. Discuss all this before you commit to anything.

4. Your hair's capabilities.

Although extensions have helped in changing the hair we are given to work with - using them to add bulk, not just length -your hairdresser pretty much has to work with what you've got.

Don't be unrealistic in going for a new look -be sure your hair is up to it. If you have got ultra-fine hair, it is possible that it will never grow past shoulder length looking anything other than straggly, so don't expect too much.

5. Going for the chop Having your hair cut can be quite liberating -sometimes you just need a bit of courage to go for something quite radical and take the plunge.

Make sure you take pictures in to your stylist and thoroughly discuss the change before you proceed. But remember even if the worst happens and you hate your new look, it will grow back!

Yes, folks -I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! is back.

It's the hottest show on TV in more ways than one, and here TV Editor Sara Nathan reveals the 11 brave men and women who are ready to bare their souls, and a lot more, in the sweltering heat.

In last year's series, contestants had to eat kangaroo testicles in the Bush Tucker Trials. This time round, even more nasty challenges are promised.

The new series, hosted by Ant and Dec, kicks off on Sunday, November 20, on ITV1 at 9pm. Bonza!

JENNY FROST I'M A Celeb bosses have got a purr-fect line-up with sexy former Atomic Kitten .

The stunning blonde, 27, hopes the show will help her launch a solo singing career after the split last year. But bad luck fellas, Jenny is engaged to DJ Dominic Thrupp, 42.

MOST LIKELY TO: Do a Natalie Appleton and dissolve into tears almost immediately.

JIMMY OSMOND JIMMY could be the dark horse of the contest as millions of middle-aged women adore him.

The singer, who became a star as a schoolboy, is the youngest of the Osmond Family. At nine he became the youngest artist to have a UK No1 with Long Haired Lover From Liverpool. Jimmy, now 42, and his wife Michelle have four children.

MOST LIKELY TO: Do a Paul Burrell and simper like a girl during the Bush Tucker Trials.

SARA COX RADIO One DJ and saucy ladette Sara will definitely sizzle in the heat.

The 30-year-old blonde is famous for being gobby and her outspoken attitude could spark off a few rows.

But the blonde will definitely shed a few tears on being parted from her husband, fellow DJ Jon Carter, and 15-month-old baby Lola Ann, as well as her best pal Zoe Ball.

MOST LIKELY TO: Wear a smaller bikini than Sophie Anderton did last year.

DAVID DICKINSON TELLY antiques expert David is bound to be a real "bobby dazzler" Down Under.

Apart from topping up his famous Tango-orange tan, he will probably be eyeing up the jungle treasure chest to see how much he can flog it for under the hammer. David will be leaving behind his missus Lorna to, ahem, appraise, the assets of his new buddies in the jungle.

MOST LIKELY TO: Have the best tan in the jungle since Jordan.

JILLY GOOLDEN JILLY, who shot to fame on BBC2's Food & Drink show, is used to sniffing a good sauvignon blanc.

But you can bet the 48-year-old blonde won't think the jungle has such a good aroma. And if she fancies a tipple, she'll have to make it from the fruits of the forest.

Jilly is leaving her hubby Paul and three teenage children at home.

Page 60 of 125 © 2016 Factiva, Inc. All rights reserved. MOST LIKELY TO: Be the bird who doesn't mind being buried and covered in rats.

CANNON & BALL ROCK on Tommy! Veteran comedy duo Tommy Cannon, 67, and Bobby Ball, 61, are being brought in to entertain the camp.

The pair have been pals and comedy partners for 40 years. Tommy is leaving wife Hazel at home, while Bobby will be parted from his missus Yvonne. Maybe their jokes will send the rest heading for croc-infested waters.

MOST LIKELY TO: Follow in 's footsteps and make a comedy comeback.

SHEREE MURPHY FORMER Emmerdale beauty Sheree, 29, is leaving behind her hubby, Liverpool striker Harry Kewell, and children Taylor and Ruby to jet off to Oz.

The bubbly brunette could even be a winner as she has the personality and sense of humour to go the distance. She is best known for playing barmaid Tricia Dingle in the ITV1 soap -a role she quit to be full-time mum.

MOST LIKELY TO: Become a down-to-earth jungle Queen like Kerry Katona.

CAROL THATCHER JOURNALIST Carol, 52, is the daughter of former Prime Minister Margaret.

Did you guess that busty ex-Atomic Kitten was the daughter of our "bag-lady" mum pictured on page 21?

The jungle queen popped around mother Sue Katona's home for a cuppa yesterday.

And it's obvious the heavyweight 45-year-old - who wore a baggy pair of grey sweatpants, a scruffy lilac vest and flip-flops - should take some fashion tips from her girl.

One onlooker said: "You'd never guess they were mother and daughter. It looks more like Kerry's doing a bit of charity work with a down-and-out.

"Mind you, you can see why Brian was put off. You could understand that he was scared stiff Kerry would end up a chip off the old block."

Mother Sue and Kerry have had an on-off relationship. Sue abandoned Kerry at the age of five when she had some kind of nervous breakdown.

She came back into Kerry's life when the celeb was 13 and later comforted her during her split with Brian.

Kerry visited Sue's terraced house in Warrington after shopping for new carpets with pals.

Ten more celebs prepare to spend a fortnight in the Australian outback eaving their champagne lifestyle behind, 10 celebrities will once again brave the Australian rainforest for a new series of I'm A CelebrityI Get Me Out Of Here!

While the new crop of stars may think they know what they're letting themselves in for from past series, jungle bosses have got a secret weapon -creepy crawlies!

"It's a year since anyone has been to the filming location and it's safe to say that the wildlife has regained its territory," says executive producer Richard Cowles. "We've found loads more snakes than we did last year -and there are lots of spiders.

"We do safety checks and there are contingency plans if things go wrong.

But snakes and spiders can bite, so it will be pretty tense."

The celebrities will live in a camp deep in the Aussie rainforest for two weeks where one of them will eventually be crowned King or Queen Of The Jungle by viewers.

The show's presented by Ant and Dec once again and cameras will follow the contestants' every move, as they endure daily Bushtucker Trials -including a live one this Thursday -in exchange for food.

"The tasks are bigger and better than ever before," says Richard. "Our job is to come up with things that are sufficiently horrible. I think my favourite challenge so far was last year when Paul Burrell had to eat kangaroo testicles!

"I have a theory that sometimes, a lot of our show is watched from behind a cushion. Everyone I talk to says they love the trials, but can hardly watch them!"lTune in to I'm A CelebrityI Get Me Out Of Here -NOW! (Sunday to Friday, ITV2) for more jungle fever, including extra footage and behind-the-scenes gossip from the camp with Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and new co-presenter Matt Brown.

PARTY girl KERRY KATONA has had another split from childhood sweetheart DAVE CUNNINGHAM -and this time it's permanent.

Fuming Dave has packed his things and stormed out of Kerry's home in Warrington, Cheshire.

Pals say he would rather be homeless than live another day with the singer.

I feel like I'm having deja-vu but this time Dave promises: "It's for good."

Ex-ATOMIC KITTEN singer Kerry's mates say she is devastated after the printer ended their stormy seven-month relationship because of her partying.

Dave told a friend: "I've just had enough of Kerry, I love her to bits but we just can't stay together. We split up a few weeks ago and got back together days later but this time it's for good. She's always partying and never seems to have time for me. When we're together all we seem to do is argue.

"Kerry thinks she's still 18 but the reality is that she's a bit older and has two kids who need looking after.

"I'm sure we'll remain friends but we can't be anything more than that to each other in the long term."

Problem

Kerry's agent, MAX CLIFFORD, confirmed the couple had parted.

He said: "They had given it a trial for a couple of weeks but it wasn't working out. Dave wants the quiet life but Kerry wants to party a bit and I think that's the cause of the problem.

"They sat down at the weekend and talked things through and realised it wasn't working for them. But the good news is Kerry passed her driving test today and she's thrilled." Dave, pictured left with Kerry last month, took his stuff from her house on Sunday afternoon.

He is currently sleeping on his mate's couch because he sold his house to move in with Kerry.

A pal told me: "Dave is gutted -he gave up so much for Kerry and now he hasn't even got a place to live. He'd sold his house because he was determined to make a go of things with Kerry. Luckily he has got some very close friends."

Kerry was desolate when her hubby, former WESTLIFE singer BRIAN McFADDEN, swapped her for Aussie songstress DELTA GOODREM last year.

After their split, Kerry began dating male model DAN CORSI -but she dumped him after he cheated.

And now she's lost Dave too.

Don't worry Kerry, 2005 is almost over.

PROUD ex-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher last night told of her joy at daughter Carol's win.

The original Iron Lady tuned in to see Carol crowned Queen of the Jungle on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

Baroness Thatcher, 80, watched as Carol, 52, tangled with a snake and put her hand in a box full of reptiles on her final Bushtucker Trial.

Even though Carol revealed she had not told her mum she was going in the jungle, the former PM said last night: "I watched the whole of the last episode and am absolutely thrilled and very proud of my daughter.

"She has kept up the Thatcher tradition of winning.

"It was typical of Carol to stick with it and see it all the way through."

Sources close to the Baroness said she also watched the first episode of the ITV1 reality hit -when Carol parachuted into camp -and the final instalment.

Sorry

But she missed the early episode when Carol slipped out of her sleeping bag for a middle of the night call of nature -sparking 'Weegate'.

Yesterday Carol said sorry for peeing in camp, which led to the celebs getting a ticking off. She explained: "I apologise to the nation. I was tired, jet lagged and the toilet was too far away.

"I did just what would come naturally to any camper."

And it obviously didn't harm her chances as the public voted her ahead of Emmerdale babe Sheree Murphy and ex-EastEnder Sid Owen, below.

Meanwhile Carol spent just 30 minutes at the end of show party -which infuriated ITV bosses and other celebrities.

Past winners -including Joe Pasquale and Kerry Katona -spent hours at the bash at which they are supposed to be guest of honour. An insider said: "There were dozens lining up to congratulate Carol and wish her well.

"All the other celebrities who were evicted wanted to catch up and have a bit of a gossip. But she swanned in for half an hour then left -leaving a lot of people very disappointed. It was pretty poor."

Meanwhile Carol is writing an account of her time in the jungle and is expected to make a fortune from her win.

The Sun can exclusively reveal she is already being lined up for TV presenting work following her surprise triumph.

She may even follow in the footsteps of 1990s presenter Anneka Rice -with an energetic activity show.

An ITV insider said: "Carol has been spectacular. She would be great on a Challenge Anneka style show where she would be put to the test by the public. She hasn't got Anneka's figure.

Page 72 of 125 © 2016 Factiva, Inc. All rights reserved. "But you can imagine her jumping out of helicopters.

"And obviously she's used to baring her bottom for the cameras as we've seen during her secret weeing episodes."

Yesterday Carol's boyfriend, Marco Grass, revealed he plans to prepare a romantic meal when she returns.

The ski instructor said: "Luckily for me her favourite is goulash soup -and I can buy tins of that in the local Co-op. She is looking pretty thin. I think she has lost at least a stone. I need to beef her up."

Marco, 38, had been following the show but on Monday had to travel to the St Moritz ski resort and missed the final.

He said: "It was bad timing. Luckily a friend in London taped every episode."

The first Marco knew of Carol's victory was when she woke him up at 4am with a text. He said: "Was I surprised? Not at all. I believed Carol could do it. I am delighted. I think it's stupendous.

"She is so happy. more because she actually did it rather than because she won it.

"It is a big achievement. It's not like she has been two weeks on holiday in the Caribbean. It was mental drainage."

Supportive Marco helped her prepare for the jungle. He said Carol, nicknamed Iron Lady Junior, has many qualities which were able to shine through on the show.

He said: "Everybody thinks it's a case of like mother, like daughter -but Carol is like her father. This came across big time. The public completely warmed to her."

Carol had planned a trip to Vietnam after the show but Marco said she now plans to return home as soon as possible.

KERRY Katona has revealed she only married Brian McFadden because she couldn't understand his Irish accent.

The Showbands beauty joked: "I didn't know what he was saying so I just said Yeah."

But Kerry admitted she was a bit hasty in accepting the proposal from the former Westlife star.

She said: "I was impulsive marrying Brian. I only knew him three weeks - that was impulsive wasn't it?"

The 25-year-old dressed as a fairytale princess to appear on the front cover of RTE Guide's Christmas edition. But her love life has not been a dream of late.

After her split from Brian last year, she briefly dated model Dan Corsi - who cheated on her - before getting together with childhood sweetheart Dave Cunningham.

But he walked out last month blaming her partying. Dave, 25, said he would rather be homeless than spend another day with her.

The former Queen of the Jungle insists she has no regrets about living her life in the media spotlight. Kerry says she can take personal criticism - but will not tolerate attacks on her role as a parent.

She said: "You can say I'm a drug user, a prostitute or a lesbian and I would not care that much - but don't ever say I'm a bad mother."

Kerry said Molly and Lilly-Sue are her life and they have had a bad year because of her public split with 25-year-old Brian.

She said people forget that her girls have no one else around but her.

The former Atomic Kitten star said: "They are healthy, they are happy and they are dead good-looking. And they get their looks from me!"

Kerry says Christmas is her favourite time of year. She explained: "It's freezing outside so you get on the couch, put the fire on and snuggle up with kids under the duvet."

NOEL GALLAGHER has revealed Christmas makes him SICK.

As he completed the Scots leg of Oasis' UK tour last night, he groused: "I'm not a Christmassy kind of person.

"I was walking round Homebase the other day trying to find a Christmas tree, and the incessant and inane f***ing music and adverts drove me mad.

"There are ads on telly all the time for food and Kerry Katona saying 'Mums love Iceland' - well why don't you f*** off to Iceland then?

"Walking round shops to Jingle Bells - f*** off Jingle Bells! - and We Wish You A Merry Christmas."

Worst off all Noel can't stand the presents he gets from his mum.

He said: "My mam every year buys me a jumper. No1, I'm 38, No2, I'm f***ing minted and No3, I don't wear f***ing jumpers, man."

And another thing Noel dislikes - his name. He said: "With me being Called Noel people always say 'Oh, you're not actually born on Christmas'.

"No you idiot, I'm not a Saint or anything.

"I never get Christmas cards from people because I never send Christmas cards to people.

"My house is probably the most Unchristmassy house in England. And I'm sh** at buying presents and a crap person to buy presents for. I'm not a gadget person and I don't collect many things - I wouldn't turn down a vintage guitar but that's about it. I'm not one for toys and games. I don't like scent and I buy my own socks.

"A box set of DVDs I can watch I'm partial to that. The whole Christmas period gets on my nerves."

Noel will celebrate the end of his tour with brother Liam on December 22, when the band finish in Dublin. Then he plans to lock himself away with Scottish fiancee Sara MacDonald down South.

Quiet

He said: "We'll have a tear-up in Dublin for the end of tour party then me and the missus will have a quiet one in London."

Oasis thrilled a sell-out Glasgow crowd on Wednesday and last night after playing in Aberdeen.

Noel recently admitted the band play their best gigs in Scotland as it's where they first played.

"I have seen her like this before when she was drunk or on drugs. I think she was off her head."

The former pals were seated close to one another on Ryanair's 3.25pm flight FR445 from Liverpool to Dublin.

Michelle -who was jetting to Dublin to attend a concert -said: "You can imagine my surprise when I saw Kerry get on the same plane as me and she sat two rows behind me.

"I was nervous all over thinking she might have a go but nothing happened on the flight.

"My boyfriend Dave went to the toilet in the arrivals lounge and I waited for him outside.

"Suddenly I felt this hefty whack on my legs and looked around to see Kerry pulling her suitcase on wheels along.

"She'd hit me with it. There was loads of room around me, so she could have avoided me. I can only imagine it was deliberate.

Screaming

"She went as if to go the ladies then suddenly she turned on me and grabbed me by the arm and started a torrent of abuse, stabbing her finger in my face.

"There were hundreds of people watching what was going on.

"They must have been amazed by the scene. Dave came out of the toilet and saw Kerry having a go.

Page 81 of 125 © 2016 Factiva, Inc. All rights reserved. "He pulled her away and told her to leave. By this time, Kerry's driver arrived at the scene and led her away.

"Even then, she carried on shouting at the top of her voice 'I'm going to kill you'. The driver tried to calm her down but she was in such a frenzy, she wasn't listening."

Kerry, who was with her daughters Molly, four, and two-year-old Lily Sue, jetted back to the UK yesterday on an early afternoon flight.

Michelle and Kerry -who was in Dublin for a chat show appearance -were like sisters until last June when Michelle finally had enough of her pal's outrageous behaviour.

Michelle said: "Kerry was out of control and I kept telling her she should slow down.

"She was like a mad woman and was destroying herself. The booze and drugs turned her into a monster and her friends started to abandon her. She just wouldn't listen. I lost my patience with her and stopped seeing her."

Mum-of-two Michelle yesterday made a formal complaint to Dublin Garda. It is understood that cops have also interviewed her boyfriend. They will also examine CCTV footage at the airport.

Kerry, who had a highly-publicised split from former Westlife singer Brian McFadden, could not be reached for comment last night.

A Garda spokesman said: "We can confirm that we are investigating an incident which took place at Dublin Airport."

KERRY Katona WILL be quizzed by cops over allegations she was involved in an angry airport dust-up with ex-pal Michelle Hunter.

Gardai say they will talk to the celeb mum about the claims the next time she sets foot in Ireland.

Michelle 26, alleged in a statement to gardai that Kerry HOLLERED "you're dead" and branded her a "slut" in Dublin Airport on Saturday afternoon.

Gardai took statements from Michelle and her boyfriend Dave Lea, 34.

And they are expected to scour CCTV footage from the airport.

A Garda source said yesterday: "Kerry will be questioned by officers the next time she comes to Ireland.

Investigate

"Once a complaint is made the gardai are obliged to investigate in full."

The fracas unfolded when the former best friends found themselves on the same Liverpool to Dublin flight.

Kerry -flying in to appear on RTE's Ryan show -is said to have WHACKED blonde Michelle with her suitcase after they landed in Dublin.

Michelle says Kerry, 25, then grabbed her arm and launched into a rant -even though Brian McFadden's ex had their daughters Molly, four and Lily Sue, two, with her.

Michelle told the Irish Sun: "She was screaming at the top of her voice, 'You're dead, you best be scared because you know I'll do it.'

"She called me a slut and kept screaming and shouting. "Her face was twisted with rage."

Kerry flew back to Britain on Sunday.

SHOWBANDS * New Year's Day & Mon * RTE1

Kerry Katona loved getting back on set to make the new editions of Showbands. But she does have one slight problem with the part - recapturing her natural accent!

"It's great to play Denise," smiles Kerry, 25, who lives in Warrington, near Liverpool. "I just have to get my head around talking like a Scouser again!"

Gutsy Denise faces a huge career decision in the two new episodes of the musical drama, set in 1960s Ireland.

Denise is a singer with the California Showband. Manager Tony (Liam Cunningham) feels his talented protegee is destined for great things, so he enters her in the National Song Contest.

Winning would mean a place in the Eurovision Song Contest, which could catapult Denise to stardom. But Tony isn't the only one keen on grabbing top spot. Ageing crooner Ricky (Tom s n SNoilleabh in), who Denise clashed with in the previous series, is determined to make a triumphant comeback.

Rival ballroom owner Alan Rendell (Denis Conway) also spots an opportunity to score some points on Tony and Denise and enters blonde stunner Bella (Amy Huberman) in the contest. But that's not all! Rendell also makes a move on Tony's neglected fiancee, Gemma (Tina Kellegher).

It looks like it is all over before it has begun for Tony and Denise as their van breaks down on the way to the regional heat. Denise - and Ricky, who blagged a lift from his rivals - both miss the show. The only way the pair can still make it is to enter a later heat - as a double act!

Denise and Ricky put their differences aside and cruise through to the final. Only one gig stands between them and glory. But then she is offered a slot in a huge St Patrick's Day concert featuring Frank Sinatra in Las Vegas! Denise must make the biggest decision of her lifeI Showbands is the beginning of a new career for Kerry, who has two young daughters, Molly, four, and two-year-old Lilly Sue, from her failed marriage to ex-Westlife star Brian McFadden. The former Atomic Kitten singer is keen to do more TV work.

"I want to act, and Showbands has made me even more determined," she says.

"I've been in talks about several projects and there's one I'm particularly excited about. I hope people will see me in a different light."

BRIAN McFadden doesn't normally like to air his dirty laundry in public.

But when mum Mairead offered to wash it for him, there was only one place the singer was going to WRING in the New Year.

Brian, 25, said goodbye to 2005 at the plush Port- marnock Golf and Country Club Hotel with his girlfriend Delta Goodrem.

And when the couple checked out yesterday, they popped up the road to his family home in Malahide, armed with a car-load of dirty clothes.

They clearly had some pressing matters to deal with after tucking into a late breakfast.

It was the second time that Delta, 21, and Brian had spent the turn of the year together after his split from Kerry Katona, 25.

She is believed to be spending the holiday in England with on-off boyfriend Dave Cunningham, 25, and her daughters Molly, four, and Lilly-Sue, two.

Brian and his Aussie lover will be hoping for a brighter start to 2006 than 2005.

They were booed off the stage at the Childline gig as the audience protested at their relationship. But the former Westlife star was clearly turning on the charm when Delta flew into Ireland from the US last week with TEN pieces of luggage.

He planted a kiss on her cheek at Dublin Airport and gave her a bunch of flowers.

Brian beamed: "Delta has been here loads of times and loves visiting Ireland."

Speculation is rife that the pair will tie the knot this year as soon as his divorce from Kerry is final.

The 25-year-old just pipped drug-scandal supermodel Kate Moss in the poor parenting list of shame.

Former Queen of the Jungle Kerry has two daughters, Molly, four, and two-year old Lily Sue by estranged hubby Brian McFadden.

But an online poll by satellite channel LIVINGtv revealed the public were unimpressed by her behaviour since splitting from the former Westlife singer.

Kerry's fall from grace comes after she won the BEST Celebrity Mum Of The Year award in London in 2003 and 2005. Model Kate came last after being photographed snorting cocaine.

Queen of pop Madonna was rated the world's best mum by 36 per cent of the 3,000 voters in Northern Ireland asked to rank showbiz mothers.

Chef Jamie Oliver's wife Jules was No2, followed by glamour model Jordan and 's missus Cherie.

Next best were actresses Kate Winslet, Anna Friel and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The busty ex-Atomic Kitten has been hinting for a while that she would give "a twirl" on his show.

She said: "I keep saying I want to do Strictly Come Dancing so someone please get in touch.

"Ice skating now seems to be the in-thing, but I'm totally c**p at it.

"I went ice skating when I was in Marbella recently and managed to stand on two feet, but I had my two daughters to keep me upright."

Home news Victory for Sun over baby rapists George Pascoe-Watson Political Editor 407 words 3 February 2006 The Sun THESUN 6 English © 2006 News Group Newspapers Ltd. All rights reserved. VILE baby rapists Alan Webster and Tanya French could face much longer prison sentences thanks to The Sun.

The beasts were last night referred to the Appeal Court so their jail terms could be reviewed.

Attorney General Lord Goldsmith finally acted after a powerful Sun campaign.

An overwhelming 160,000 of you bombarded him with complaints about their lenient punishment.

And you can keep the pressure up by signing our new petition on this page.

Readers were outraged after learning that Webster, 40, could be out on parole in just SIX YEARS despite getting a life term last month for raping and sexually assaulting a 12-week-old tot. French, 19, got five years after confessing she too raped the baby. She could be out in two and a half years.

But last night Lord Goldsmith announced he will personally fight for longer terms.

In a highly unusual move he will conduct the case himself - on behalf of the nation - in the hearing.

His office last night declared: "The Attorney General has carefully considered the evidence in the case of Alan Webster and Tanya French and he considers it to be exceptional.

"He has concluded that the sentences imposed were unduly lenient and that it is right for the Court Of Appeal to review them.

"It is now for the Court Of Appeal to decide and no further comment would be appropriate until the hearing."

Lord Goldsmith acted last night with just two days to go before a deadline for appeals.

Michele Elliot, director of the Kidscape child protection charity, said: "The Sun has done a marvellous thing. This is a great example of responsible journalism and everyone here is grateful for the paper's campaign for common sense."

Ex-model and mum-of-three Melinda Messenger, 34, added: "I backed The Sun's campaign and welcome news that the sentences will be reviewed."

Former Mum Of The Year Kerry Katona, 25, said: "I was horrified by the sentences.

I hope these two now get their just desserts."

PR guru Max Clifford said: "I am glad the power of

The Sun has achieved significant results."

Police found horrific photographs cataloguing the abuse when they searched Webster's home.

The baby's mother was unaware of the attack until police raised the alarm. She branded the original sentences a "joke".
