WELCOME GLOBAL FRIENDS! 글로벌 미네소타 친구들 환영합니다

On behalf of ’s Board of Directors and staff, welcome to the Celebration of the Republic of Korea. Proceeds from tonight’s gala — our largest fundraiser of the year — support Global Minnesota’s ongoing educational and cultural programs designed to help Minnesotans live, work, and lead globally.

Many thanks to gala underwriters, patrons, and auction donors for their generous contributions, which are critical to tonight’s success.

We also wish to recognize individuals who have played essential roles — Ben Jaffray and Hyon Kim for graciously serving as Honorary Gala Co-Chairs; Muffy MacMillan for hosting this event at her beautiful home; Gala Committee Co-Chairs Kay Thomas and Bomi Yoon and their amazing committee for their vision, commitment, and leadership; and Thomas Kim of The Rabbit Hole, Sara Monick, and D’Amico Catering for designing a creative sampling of contemporary Korean cuisine.

Finally, we wish to extend a special thank you to the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chicago for their deep support this evening and during our entire year-long focus on South Korea. We are proud to call them our global partner.

Now, let’s enjoy a wonderful evening, raising funds for one of our favorite and most deserving nonprofits — Global Minnesota. And remember, bid early and often!

Let the fun begin!

Peter C. Hawthorne Chair, Board of Directors

Robert Parker gave this "the wine of the vintage designation for 1988 and a prestigious 94 rating." This classic expression of Lafite is deep in color with concentrated, brilliantly focused flavors. Its tannins have now softened, leaving a wonderful bouquet of cassis, cedar, raspberries, and dried fruits.
