WHY WE'RE EXPLORERS

Sue Senner Salle University's nickname — The Explorers — was erroneously bestowed by a La Athletic Communications sports writer covering a La Salle football game (La Salle played intercollegiate Assistant football from 1931-41) on campus sometime during the '30s. He thought that the school was named after the famed French explorer of North America. In reality, the school was named after St. John Baptist de La Salle, the French educator and founder of the Christian Brothers. Despite the error, the nickname has remained.

The 1997-98 mark of 15-13 continued Miller's record of having a winning record in every year and continued a La Salle streak of 14. Miller also has had six seasons with 20 or more victories.

Last season, the Explorers finished fifth in the Adantic 10 West at 8-8. This was the first time in the Explorers' three years in the conference that they did not finish second. The Explorers own a 30-18 record in three seasons of conference action. Although the team struggled in the Atlantic 10, La Salle was crowned Philadelphia Big 5 Champions by going 4-0. The only other time the Explorers accomplished that feat was the 1988-1989 season. 1999 Women's Basketball Camps

Head Coach John Miller John Miller has more than 20 years of experience running basketball camps. He is interested in the development of

young people and his philosophy is to teach each player as an individual. Each camper will be treated this way. A personnel profile card will be kept on your daughter noting her competition against players of the same age and ability. This will allow your daughter to put her newly learned skills to use.
