The South Loop Dog Park Action Cooperative invites you to A Meeting to Propose Improvements to the Dog Friendly Area

(aka “Grant Bark Park”)

Thursday, February 21st 6:00 PM at Maggie Daley Park Fieldhouse 337 E Randolph St

A meeting with representatives of: The Park District Ward 03 and Ward 04 Aldermen The Grant Park Advisory Council The South Loop Dog PAC & All interested parties

Grant Bark Park already has the best view of any of Chicago’s Dog Friendly Areas! Making it more modern and attractive to dogs and their owners will help balance the use of all of the South Loop DFAs by encouraging more use of Grant Bark Park, both by the new population expected to move into the condominium developments underway at the south end of Grant Park, and other patrons from the past and future. Repair and improvements are needed due to aging, advances in DFA design, and also due to annual use by staff every summer since the dog park opened.

What might improve the Grant Park Dog Friendly Area?

 Installation of a large artificial turf strip in the asphalt area

 Installation of artificial turf to replace the ‘pea gravel’ area

 Installation of clustered seating areas (small picnic tables/shades)

 Addition of a water source/water fountain outside the dog park fence

Long term, our goal is to achieve a well-designed state-of-the art Dog Friendly Area in Grant Park that can serve the surrounding community and the South Loop as a whole. We will meet in order to begin the process of making this happen.

Passers-by, groups of toddlers with their caretakers, even senior citizens often stop by at the overlook at Fred Anderson Park Dog Park to watch the dog activities. A well-designed state-of-the-art dog park in which dogs can safely run and play can become a jewel for the community and a city-wide attraction for dog-owners and non-dog- owners alike.
