23rd / 24th August 2019 National Rowing Centre, Farran, Cork, Ireland CLUB INFORMATION PACK HOSTED BY WHITEGATE ROWING CLUB Whitegate, Co. Cork. Welcome Notes On behalf of Rowing Ireland I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the rowers, coxes, coaches, parents and their friends to the 2019 Irish Coastal Rowing Championships which are being held in the National Rowing Centre in August. This is the second occasion on which the event will be held in the National Rowing Centre and is a reflection on the excellent event which took place there in 2018 on the coastal course, adjacent to the Olympic course. Now that coastal rowing is an #integrated part of the Rowing Ireland family, it is wonderful to see it utilising the facilities at our headquarters in the National Rowing Centre. It is however important for the development of the sport that the championships move around the country and in 2020 they will be held in Donegal. In addition to the small army of volunteers without which an event of this nature could not take place, I would like to specifically thank two other groups. The first is the Coastal Champi- onship Committee which met monthly since December to ensure the Championships are well organised and run to a high standard. The second is the host club which this year is Whitegate Rowing Club. As the “feet on the ground” at the National Rowing Centre, Whitegate are leaving no stone unturned in making all the necessary arrangements including liaising with a large number of bodies such as Coillte, the Gardai and the ESB. We look forward to seeing you and your club in the National Rowing Centre in August for another wonderful celebration of coastal rowing at its best.
