Other info: Modelled on the 16th century facades of Piazza San Marco in Venice (Sansovino’s Procuratie Nuove). Columns are Doric, Ionic and Corinthian. Eastern section of the terrace gutted by fire in 1978, rebuilt 1980 in glass reinforced concrete to original façade design – moulds made from the undamaged part of the terrace.

Other info: The street level buildings were demolished following a fire in 1970, but the platforms remain intact in the underground tunnel. The line to Maryhill closed in 1964, and proposals to reopen it for train or tram traffic have been unsuccessful.
