Alex Cortright to Host WTMD Morning Show Starting January 5th. Long Time Radio Host Chosen After National Search

After a national search, WTMD 89.7 FM has chosen long time DJ Alex Cortright to helm the WTMD Morning Show. Cortright’s first day is January 5, 2015.

Cortright will be responsible for all aspects of the WTMD Morning Show including creating exciting musical sets, interviews with musicians and community leaders. Perhaps most importantly for WTMD’s audience of astute and knowledgeable music lovers, he will also bring his life-long passion for music to the Morning Show.

“Supporting musicians and sharing music and stories about music is the most meaningful thing I’ve accomplished in radio. Growing up, I was always the kid making mixtapes for friends and family and now, thanks to WTMD, I still get to share that same youthful enthusiasm of discovery. I can’t wait to get started!” Said Cortright.

Most recently of WRNR-Annapolis, Cortright has the musical knowledge to entertain and enlighten WTMD listeners’ weekday mornings. He is also deeply committed to community service and has emceed a variety of community activities and fundraisers. “Alex is the perfect combination of music expert and relatable personality with extraordinary community commitment. WTMD is radio for music people, and Alex is a music person.” Said Scott Mullins, WTMD’s Program Director.

No stranger to public radio, Cortright has previously worked at WJHU (now WYPR) earlier in his career. “Alex is a well rounded radio professional and our listeners and members will be thrilled to have him back in public radio.” Said Mullins” --30-
