MEMORANDUM TO THE HOME AFFAIRS COMMITTEE POST LEGISLATIVE ASSESSMENT OF THE UK BORDERS ACT 2007 INTRODUCTION This memorandum provides a preliminary assessment of the UK Borders Act 2007, in particular to provide information about how the provisions in the Act have worked in practice. It has been prepared by the Home Office and is published as part of the process set out by the previous Government in the document “Post Legislative Scrutiny – the Government’s Approach” (Cm 7320), published in March 2008. The current Government has accepted the need to continue the practice of post legislative scrutiny as supporting the coalition’s aim of improving Parliament’s consideration of legislation.
