Here is a very clean Ducati Sport Classic model, the 2006 Ducati Paul Smart LE. It is about as nice as they can be found these days, this one also has the very desirable Ducati Performance lower fairings, the Ducati Performance Termignoni 2-1 exhaust with the upgraded ECU, we also have all the original parts, paperwork, 2 black and red key, code card, manuals, welcome letter and brochures.. We have only had it into SUB once for service in April 2014, it had just over 8,600 miles at the time, we performed a minor service, replaced the fuel filter inside the tank and hoses that had gotten soft from ethanol. When we had the bike in we did notice signs of tank swelling at the time and helped facilitate getting the dealer to replace the tank and made sure to have it sealed inside with caswell to avoid further issues. It appears tires were updated as well. We do have additional records for 6k service and misc others. We recently were able to gather all the paperwork and were given the go ahead to get it ready to sell. Marty just completed the 12K Desmo service, he also made sure its running the way he likes them to. He noted in the service order "165lbs of compression in both cylinders". We've gone through everything brought in and given the Paul Smart a thorough inspection, it is very obvious this special Ducati was loved and cherished, articles were kept, brochures, accessory install instructions etc all archived. We are proud to help find a good home for this Paul Smart.

Come check this one out up close, we don't think you will be disappointed at all.

Please note, we do have missing heel guard on order...

Information & History

The Ducati PaulSmart 1000 LE (PS1000LE) is a retro-styled built by Ducati in 2006 to commemorate Paul Smart's win at the Imola 200 race in 1972, a win that helped define Ducati's future approach to racing. The bike is styled in the fashion of the Ducati 750 Imola Desmo race bike that Paul Smart rode to victory, and the 1974 750 SuperSport it originally inspired. It is one of the SportClassic series designed by Pierre Terblanche.

Ducati has not invented the nostalgic “retro” formula, of course. In the last few years we’ve seen the “new Beetle” and the “new Mini” cars, and in the two-wheeled world, Triumph is having a ball with their “new twins” success. Ducati’s move was kind of expected and upon seeing the first photos of the “Sport Classic” series from Tokyo’s 2003 show. It’s a kind of a rolling memorial to a tool that showed the rest of the world how its done in Bologna but it still isn’t really the real thing, i.e. a true bevel drive Duc. Talking about the real thing, one blood Seattle Used Bikes seattleusedbikes.com 4111 Aurora Ave N (206) 535-6812

connection that can’t be denied is the fact that the air cooled belt drive mills were designed by the man himself, Dr. T, his very last engine before retiring from Ducati, the same Doctor T that was standing next to the pit wall on that great day.

Ducati produced exactly 2,000 units of the Paul Smart 1000, hence the Limited Edition moniker. That’s about twice the amount of 750SSs ever produced between 1974/78, and you can bet that they will all be gone pretty quickly. It’s not a bike that will change the fate of Ducati, but nevertheless, you can’t but appreciate the total effort, dedication, and the fanaticism with which the guys from Bologna decided to honor the past. The very fact that this bike exists and the way it taught a lesson in history did me a lot of good.
