Delivered seminar sessions on religion, warfare, trade and economy and a general public lecture on Late Bronze Aegean kingship on April 8th (infra in VII). September 2011- August 2012: Researcher at the Institute of Greek and Roman Antiquity (ΚΕΡΑ) of the National Research Foundation, Athens (Greece). Current engagement: The set-up of a core centre for the study of Aegean Bronze Age writing systems. V. Current Involvement in Archaeological Projects 1. Study of the material from Zakro Excavations directed by Professor Nikolaos Platon under the auspices of the Athens Archaeological Society. (Research Associate; External Collaborator) This project is directed by Professor L. Platon (University of Athens). My involvement in it (2004-current), besides the study of Neopalatial pottery from the palace and the adjacent settlement has recently (2011-current) focused sharply on the study and publication of the so-called ‘Archive’ room in the West Wing of the Late Minoan I palatial complex at Kato Zakro. This study will deal with the architecture, stratigraphy, taphonomy and all finds from the ‘Archive’ at an attempt to reconstruct administrative action at Kato Zakro. While I am responsible for the study of the epigraphic material, I collaborate broadly with Professor Platon and other colleagues for other aspects of this study. The Linear A documents found in the ‘Archive’ will be studied both as documents and as artefacts set in their proper archaeological context. A revised study of the sealings from House A (Hogarth’s excavations), encompassing a study of finger-prints found on them, is also embedded in this project and a full revision of the Bronze Age epigraphic material (including inscriptions in Cretan Hieroglyphic and Linear A) is also planned. The Zakros project receives support from many sources, including the Athens Archaeological Society, the Psycha Foundation and the Institute of Aegean Prehistory.
