November 28 & 29 Important Activity Registration Procedure- We need everyone to keep in mind the following points when signing up for activities to make the process as efficient and effective as possible. I continue to be part-time and generally only in the office three times a week. Thanks for your cooperation. 1. Everyone is encouraged to sign up as far in advance as possible, but no later than noon the day before. Un- derstand, this does not guarantee a spot and you might be notified there is no space the day of the activity. 2. Steve Causey is the only person who knows the details of an activity, especially with respect to space. Please do not call other staff asking for activity details. They simply do not know. Calling other staff only takes them away from their responsibilities and often times creates confusion that takes time to correct. 3. Please limit texts and/or calls to my personal phone to items that are time sensitive or important to a specific activity that I’m on in the community. My office phones is 546-9431 Ext. 230. 4. If you sign up for an activity and decide you can’t make it, it is imperative you call and let me know. Often times there are people on a waitlist that want that spot. Additionally, it requires a lot of coordination of staff, vans, tickets and meal money to do activities. We need everyone’s help with this no matter the activity. Additional Recreation Notes and Reminders Restrictions on Bags, Purses, and More at Arenas and Other Venues- In this era of heightened security, many entertainment and sport venues limit what can be brought in. If you feel the need to carry a purse, it typically can’t be bigger than a clutch purse. In many cases, it must also be clear and no bigger than 12” x 12” x 6”. Additionally, we often go through metal detectors, are “wanded,” and empty pockets. Please keep personal items to a minimum . Sunshine Industries’ 2019 Sunshine Holiday Party Date- The Sunshine Industries’ Holiday Party is scheduled for Friday, December 6th, at Central United Methodist Church. Additional details will be made available soon. Special Olympics New Special Olympics of Greater Knoxville (Area 5) Traditional Basketball Tournament- This year’s tournament is scheduled for either November 21st or 22nd. Once we know our exact days and times, we’ll let you know. Please note we have three more practices scheduled. They are on Tuesday the 5th and 19th and Wednesday the 13th. at the Cal Johnson Recreation Center’s outdoor courts on Hall of Fame Drive. Please note for the Tuesday practices we leave Sunshine at 3:00 and finish practice at 4:15. Wednesday’s practice time will be 4-5:15. All players should be picked up at Cal Johnson. THE UNIVERSITY OF KNOXVILLE I CENTER FOR CAREER DEVELOPMENT Career Outcomes Class of 2018 I ► ► II • ► • • - . ' ' ' ' ' .-- . ' ' . ---- .... ,. Table of Contents Introduction Career Outcomes Infographic Career Outcomes by College Full-time Salaries Accepted Geographical Distribution of Full-time Employed Graduates Top hiring Organization Reported Hires by Organization Internships Graduate and Professional Programs Introduction This report contains career outcomes or “first destination data” collected by the Center for Career Development (CCD) for the class of 2018. The class is defined by August 2017, December 2017, and May 2018 graduates. The CCD followed first destination survey protocols set forth by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and participated in NACE’s annual data collection. The center utilized 12Twenty, a student outcomes reporting platform and database. Staff collected data on graduates through a variety of means including: emails, phone calls, information collected by academic departments, and social media outlets, e.g., LinkedIn. Increased efforts were made to include academic colleges with data collection. In particular, staff attended graduation-focused events in nearly all of the colleges. The One Stop call center was also useful in collecting data with phone call campaigns throughout the year. NACE defines knowledge rate as “the percent of graduates for which the institution has reasonable and verifiable information concerning the graduates’ postgraduation career activities.” Of graduating bachelor’s students, the overall knowledge rate is 82%, an all-time high. The target rate designated by NACE is 65%. Seven of the nine academic colleges had rates in the 81 to 90% range. Gathering career outcomes for graduate students is more challenging as reflected in the knowledge rates of 56% for master’s students and 64% for doctoral students.
