Nominated as SAMA Branch Councilor of the SAMA Gauteng North Branch, 1995 to present date Nominated as CPD organizer of all CPD Activities of the Branch since 1999 to present date. Duties include arranging 3 – 4 CPD Seminars at the CSIR Conference centre from 1999 to the present date. The seminars are free to all healthcare workers and they usually include an HIV seminar. Delegates attending go up to 300 delegates! Nominated on 2 occasions in 1999 and 2004 to represent branch Council at the National Council meetings of SAMA. Elected as second Female President of the Gauteng North Branch in 1999. Nominated to be the General Practitioner Representative on the Advisory Board of Medical Protection Society from 2003 to present date. Congresses attended: 1995 - Dermatology refresher Course at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, St Thomas’s Hospital, Westminster, London, United Kingdom. 1996 - Dermatology Update for General Practitioners at the Pharmacy Council, Johannesburg, arranged with Dermatological Society of South Africa 1999 - Dermatology Update for MMED graduates at the University of Pretoria, given by Dr Pieter du Plessis. 2001 - Attended Egoli, Annual South African Dermatology Congress at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg RSA 2005 - Completed dispensing Course in conjunction with Foundation of professional Development, SAMA 2006 - Travel Medicine Course in association with James cook University, Australia, and the University of the Witwatersrand. 2007- SASUOG congress attended in pta Presentations: 2003 - Presentation to children and parents at Pretoria Muslim School, Laudium Pretoria, The damaging effects of the sun, effects of sun damage, importance of using a sunblock, Different SPF Factors, Acne update and an Overview of common Nail Manifestations. Leadership roles: 1999 - Chairperson of Symposium Committee of the Pretoria Medical Discussion Group for organizing CPD Symposium for General Practioners at CSIR Conference Centre for over 205 delegates and their spouses. 2000 - Nominated by SAMA Gauteng North Branch Council as CPD Organizer. Since then have arranged 3-4 seminars each year, since 2000 to the present time. These includes free lectures for all healthcare workers, mainly General Practioners, Anesthetists and Specialists of various disciplines on various Continuing Medical Educational Topics. Our highest attendance was about 350 delegates. 2003 - Nominated on the advisory Board of the Medical Protection Society as the General Practitioner representative. Have yearly meetings with the Medico Legal Advisors from the UK and various other countries discussing issues of Subscription rates, and other issues pertaining to MPS Matters.
