2019 Roero Arneis Docg
One of the legendary winemakers of the world, Bruno Giacosa crafted the most prestigious single-vineyard Barolo and Barbaresco wines during a career that spanned nearly eight decades. He joined the family business at the age of 15, representing the third generation of his Langhe winemaking family. Giacosa’s unfailing pursuit of perfection, his unrivaled palate and his intimate knowledge of vineyards in the Langhe quickly drew recognition and helped establish Piedmont as a leading wine region. In 1980, Giacosa began to acquire prime parcels in Serralunga d’Alba, La Morra and Barbaresco to produce wines that are rightly regarded as the finest expressions of Nebbiolo. His legacy rests with daughter Bruna, who continues to uphold her father’s winemaking philosophy to respect traditional techniques while using the best of modern technology. The goal is for each distinguished site to produce articulate, unique wines. 2019 ROERO ARNEIS DOCG Grape variety: Arneis Vineyards: Select vineyards in the villages of Vezza d’Alba, Monteu Roero, Santo Stefano Roero, Canale, Montà d’Alba Age of vines: 19-26 years Yield: 70 hL/ha Vinification: Stainless steel vats Length of fermentation: 25-30 days Malolactic fermentation: not developed Refinement: 4 months in stainless steel vats + 1 month in bottle Bottling: February 2020 Alcohol: 13.5% vol. Total acidity: 5.10 g/L pH: 3.30 Total extract: 22.5 g/L Sensory analysis: Intense straw colored with greenish glints. The nose presents lemon, pineapple, peach and apricot notes with floral hints. On the palate, it is fresh, full-bodied, with mineral notes and a persistent finish. -

Finding Jesus: The Shroud of Turin Episode There is no record of what Jesus looked like in the New Testament. There are no contemporary descriptions at all. However, the Bible does record how Joseph of Arimathea, a member of the Jewish council and a sympathizer with Jesus, wrapped his dead body in expensive linen, and buried it in his own family tomb. In the 14th Century a shroud, bearing the image of a crucified man, surfaces in France, before eventually finding a home in Turin. Is this the very shroud that Joseph wrapped Jesus in? Is the image of the man Jesus Christ? The shroud appears to tell the whole story of Jesus’ Passion in one image – the scourging; the Crown of Thorns; carrying the cross; the Crucifixion; the spear in his side. For centuries, the shroud is a source of great controversy – many Christians believe it is genuine, but others have their doubts. In 1978 a team of scientists lead by former US Navy physicist Dr. John Jackson spend five days intensively studying the shroud, before ultimately concluding it is genuine. It isn’t a forgery or the work of an artist. But a decade later, in 1988, the shroud is subject to Radiocarbon 14 dating – scientists at three separate laboratories date the samples of the Shroud to some point between AD1260–1390. This strongly suggests the shroud is a medieval fake after all. In a final twist, the film visits the Cathedral of San Salvador, in Oviedo, Spain, where there is another burial cloth venerated as having covered the face of Jesus. -

Nuove prospettive per la comunità, pro- mosso dalla Fondazione CRC e realizzato da Fondazione Fitzcarraldo. Di seguito si specificano alcune considerazioni relative alla metodolo- gia adottata e alcune indicazioni utili alla consultazione dell’elenco. La scelta effettuata per disporre di una prima ricognizione di parte del patrimonio dismesso cuneese si è concretata, da un lato, in una ricerca e una lettura dei dati estrapolati dalle poche fonti disponibili e, dall’altro, nella raccolta di segnalazioni dirette da parte degli enti territoriali. Una mappatura efficace e puntuale in grado di fotografare dal punto di vista quantitativo e localizzativo tutte le opportunità e gli edifici in stato di abbandono e di sottoutilizzo in un territorio così vasto come la provincia di Cuneo non può prescindere da sopralluoghi mirati in tutti i 250 comuni del territorio. Per questo è più realistico definire questa parte della ricerca come una ricognizione “a maglie larghe” di un immenso patrimonio di- smesso che comprende una moltitudine di proprietari differenti. Le diverse fonti oggetto della presente ricognizione individuano beni le cui condizioni effettive non sono direttamente verificate, non essendo stati effettuati i sopralluoghi.
