2010-2011 Athletes, administrators, officials and coaches may become members of Athletics Tasmania (and the Tasmanian Athletic league) through the AT registration system. The registration/membership year runs from 1 April to 31 March in the following year. All registrations cease on 31 March each year and become renewable immediately. However a member will be deemed financial until 30 April, with the exception of any Tasmanian Championships relating to the new registration period. This is designed both to provide a grace period to get re-registered and to enable participation in interstate carnival events (such as Stawell) and National Championships that relate to the just concluded registration year in Tasmania. The preferred method of effecting registration is via the online registration system on the Athletics Tasmania website – www.tasathletics.org.au . Hard copy registration forms are available for those who are not able to access the on line system. CATEGORIES OF REGISTRATIONS As from 2010-11 for most seeking to register with Athletics Tasmania the procedure will involve a single action to complete the previous two or three-fold process – joining a club, a branch (for northern and southern athletes) and AT. [Note that north west based registrants joining the North West AC do not also need to join a branch, as this is automatic with club membership.] In most cases the two or three levels of membership can be achieved simultaneously by using either the online system and paying the necessary fees by credit card OR using hard copy and making payment to the club. Administrators and officials – there is no AT fee for administrators or officials. Administrators and officials should register to ensure they are adequately covered for all applicable forms of insurance. Those registered as athletes are not required to also register as an official or administrator. Officials and administrators may register directly with AT or through a club and/or branch. Coaches – eligible coaches seeking insurance may register either with AT or through the Australian Track and Field Coaches insurance system. Qualifications are recognised equally by both processes. To ensure recognition and eligibility for support, grants etc, coaches who opt to register/insure with ATFCA, should also register as an official or administrator with AT, if not registered with AT as an athlete. Athletes – athletes must turn 10 years of age (9 years for out of stadium competition only) in the year of registration in order to be eligible to register and become a member of AT. There is no upper age limit but insurance ceases to be available to athletes on attaining their 80 th birthday. Athletes may opt to register as a fully registered member (covering track and field as well as out of stadium competition or track and field only) OR for out of stadium competition only. Athletes who initially register as OOS only may obtain full registration by paying the applicable top up fee. TAL Carnival Participation – For the 2010-11 season, Athletics Tasmania and the Tasmanian Athletic League will again have a unified registration system. This means that all athletes will register with AT and will also be able to compete in TAL Carnivals competition, without needing to register separately. Elaine was a Life Member of the club and holds the Senior Women’s 100m and 200m records with mes of 11.6 and 23.9 respecvely. She won over 25 State Championships and was the first Tasmanian woman to win an Open Australian Championship, taking out the 400m tle in 1969. Post compeng, she became involved in both coaching and officiang and was appointed as a jumps’ judge at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane and as a jumps’ assistant at the World Cup in Canberra in 1985.

    Coles Little Athletics Australia Roll of Excellence Categories and Criteria an d Past Nominations CATEGORIES AND CRITERIA 1 CATEGORIES There are four categories for induction: • Track and Field - Former Little Athletes who have represented Australia in athletics • Sportsperson - Former Little Athletes who have competed at the highest level in Sport • Achievers - Former Little Athletes who have achieved in a non-sport related discipline • Volunteers - Any person (outside those eligible above) and/or families who have made an outstanding contribution to Little Athletics in Australia. Initial intake was 5 in each category.     Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers ANNUAL REPORT 2005 - 2006 This has been a very busy year but it is pleasing to report a successful year. Apart from the usual compact fixture programme members have been involved in many representative fixtures with success and a survey by Runners World Magazine showed that we were the Number One overall Club in the UK. A record number of members were selected for the Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne, Australia. Trecia Smith representing Jamaica won the women triple jump and Nick Neiland took gold for England in the men’s javelin. England representatives were Natasha Danvers Smith 2nd in the women’s 400m Hurdles, Nadia Williams 3rd for England in the women’s triple jump, Jo Ankier 7th in the women’s steeplechase, Marilyn Okoro 7th in the women’s 800m, Emma Ania was 8th in the women’s 100m, David Parker 9th in the men’s javelin, Julie Dunkley 10th in the women’s shot and Ellie Spain 11th in the women’s pole vault. Zoe Brown represented Northern Ireland and finish 12th in the women’s pole vault. Our Scotland representatives were Lee McConnell who was 3rd in the final of the women’s 400m Hurdles and Allan Scott who just failed to make the final of the men’s 110m Hurdles. In the men’s shot Anthony Soalla-Bell representing Sierra Leon just missed out in making the final. Larry Achike and Abi Oyepitan were selected by England but injuries prevented them from going. Eight members represented Great Britain at the European Athletic Championships Natasha Danvers Smith and Lee McConnell in the women’s 400m hurdles and 4 x 400m relay, Marilyn Okoro in the women’s 400m and 4 x 400,Emma Ania in the women’s 4 x 100m, Gemma Bennett in 100m Hurdles, Ellie Spain in women’s pole vault, Nick Neiland in the men’s javelin and Larry Achike in the men’s triple jump.

Abi Oyepitan (England) also grabbed a GOLD Medal in the England 4x100m team and the SILVER Medal in the 200 metres with a time of 23.26secs Congratulations also to Andrew Elkins for representing Great Britain in the Hammer event at the World Youth Olympics in Singapore. Richard Goodman has had an outstanding year representing Great Britain in the European and World cross country championships and also winning the World Schools Cross Country Championships. Melissa Courtney won the World Biathlon(swimming and running) title for Under 18s in Dubai with Izzy Thompson finishing 13th in the same competition. Orlando Edwards the male athlete of the year is an outstanding cross country and road runner but this year won the Senior Men’s title at the Home International Mountain Race representing England. It is also pleasing to report that our very talented under 15 boys cross country team went through the whole of last winter undefeated in every championship.
