Bayer 04 Leverkusen's win in London on matchday four has put them in sight of the knockout rounds and they will qualify should they avoid defeat at PFC CSKA Moskva and Tottenham Hotspur FC lose at AS Monaco FC on the same day. • CSKA are on two points and will only stay in contention for a top-two finish with a victory. • In the reverse fixture, the teams' first ever competitive meeting, Leverkusen led 2-0 through Admir Mehmedi and Hakan Çalhanoğlu. CSKA came back strongly when Alan Dzagoev scored, Roman Eremenko levelling two minutes later. Match background CSKA • The Russian side were unable to build on their promising start, losing 1-0 at home to Tottenham in their second fixture. • They then drew 1-1 at home to Monaco, Lacina Traoré scoring against his parent club. The away game two weeks later brought a 3-0 defeat for Leonid Slutski's side. • CSKA have lost two of their last three home games in the UEFA Champions League and have won only one of the last ten at home in the competition proper. • They have also lost their three home games against German visitors in each of the last three campaigns, going down 2-0 against VfL Wolfsburg in Khimki last season and twice against FC Bayern München before that. • Like Leverkusen, this is the fourth successive group stage campaign for the Russian champions. They will be eager to improve on last season's performance when they finished bottom of their group (W1 D1 L4). Leverkusen • They suffered more disappointment on matchday two, leading 1-0 at Monaco until a 94th-minute equaliser. • They then drew 0-0 at home to Tottenham before recording a notable victory at Wembley after Charles Aránguiz's shot was deflected into the path of Kevin Kampl who sidefooted home. • With six points, Roger Schmidt's men will qualify if they get a better result than Tottenham manage at Monaco. • Last season Leverkusen were eliminated in the group stage and went on to reach the UEFA Europa League round of 16 before losing 2-0 on aggregate to Villarreal CF. • Their record on the road in Europe last season was W1 D1 L4. That solitary win came at Sporting Clube de Portugal in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 (1-0).

• The club last faced Russian opposition in the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League group stage when they beat FC Zenit both home (2-0) and away (2-1). • They also won in St Petersburg in the 2007/08 UEFA Cup quarter-final but Zenit progressed 4-2 on aggregate. Their other two visits to Russia ended in defeat against FC Spartak Moskva. Coach and player links • As FC Moskva coach, Leonid Slutski lost to Hertha BSC in the 2006 UEFA Intertoto Cup (0-0 away, 0-2 home). • Traoré appeared as a 90th-minute substitute in Monaco's 1-0 victory at Leverkusen in the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League group stage. He scored in Germany for FC Anji in a 1-1 draw at Hannover 96 in a 2012/13 UEFA Europa League round of 32 tie. • Aleksandar Dragović helped Austria earn a 1-0 home UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying victory over a Russia side containing Igor Akinfeev, Vasili Berezutski, Sergei Ignashevich and Alan Dzagoev. Both Dragović and Julian Baumgartlinger played when Austria won the return 1-0 in Moscow; Akinfeev and Berezutski were in Russia's team. • Dragović and Baumgartlinger faced Pontus Wernbloom in the same qualifying campaign when Austria and Sweden drew 1-1 in Vienna in September 2014. • Hakan Çalhanoğlu came up against Akinfeev and Vasili Berezutski in Turkey's 0-0 friendly draw with Russia on 31 August this year. • Dzagoev scored and Georgi Schennikov was sent off when their Russia team lost 2-1 to Kevin Volland's Germany in the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship group stage. • Zoran Tošić spent the second half of 2009/10 on loan at 1. FC Köln in the German Bundesliga.

7 PFC CSKA Moskva - Bayer 04 Leverkusen Tuesday 22 November 2016 - 18.00CET (20.00 local time) Match press kit Stadion CSKA Moskva, Moscow Head coach Leonid Slutski Date of birth: 4 May 1971 Nationality: Russian Playing career: FC Zvezda Gorodische Coaching career: FC Olimpia Volgograd, FC Uralan Elista, FC Moskva, PFC Krylya Sovetov Samara, PFC CSKA Moskva, Russia • Started playing career as a goalkeeper with Volgograd regional team Zvezda Gorodishche, but suffered a severe injury after falling from a tree and was forced to hang up his gloves after just 13 matches. • Began coaching career in youth football at Olimpia Volgograd. From 2002 to 2004 he worked at Uralan Elista where he was promoted to head coach following relegation from top flight. Took the reins at Moskva reserves in 2004 and replaced Valeri Petrakov as the club's head coach the following summer. • Under Slutski, Moskva finished fifth in 2005 and sixth in 2006 before attaining a record-high fourth position in 2007. After a spell at Krylya Sovetov, guiding them into Europe, he took over at CSKA in October 2009, replacing Juande Ramos. That December he led CSKA to the UEFA Champions League knockout stages for the first time before quarter-final elimination by FC Internazionale Milano. • Lifted first trophy in May 2011 with CSKA's Russian Cup triumph and went on to further success. CSKA returned to the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds in 2011/12, losing in the last 16 to Real Madrid CF, but 2012/13 brought their first league title since 2006 and a shoot-out defeat of FC Anji on penalties in the Russian Cup final. • Began the next season with another trophy as CSKA lifted the Russian Super Cup and ended it with a second straight league title. In August 2015, he agreed to take charge of the Russia team until the end of UEFA EURO 2016, alongside his CSKA role, following the departure of Fabio Capello. Russia won all four of their remaining games to reach France but their early exit prompted Slutski to step down; he had guided CSKA to another league title earlier that year. Roger Schmidt Date of birth: 13 March 1967 Nationality: German Playing career: SC Verl, SC Paderborn 07, SV Lippstadt 08, Delbrücker SC Coaching career: Delbrücker SC, Preussen Münster, SC Paderborn 07, FC Salzburg, Bayer 04 Leverkusen • Spent most of his playing days in the lower leagues and, having earned a degree in mechanical engineering, looked set for a career outside of football. • Quit his job as an engineer in July 2007 to take charge of Preussen Münster, leading the club into the fourth division. A year later Paderborn came calling and Schmidt impressed to such an extent that Salzburg lured him to Austria in summer 2012. • His side were soon eliminated from the UEFA Champions League at the second qualifying round stage by Dudelange and though Salzburg earned praise for their attacking style of play, Schmidt had to settle for a runners-up finish in his first Austrian Bundesliga campaign. • Schmidt guided Salzburg to the title in record time in the 2013/14 season – they won the league with eight games to spare − and victory in the Austrian Cup final. In the UEFA Europa League, Salzburg won ten successive matches in progressing from the play-offs to the round of 16. • Schmidt promptly agreed a two-year deal with Leverkusen, and enjoyed a decent first campaign with the club. Underpinned by impressive home form, Bayer reached the UEFA Champions League last 16 before losing on penalties to Atlético Madrid, and finished fourth in the Bundesliga. Knocked out of the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League in the group stage, Leverkusen went on to the UEFA Europa League round of 16, finishing third in their domestic league
