Aquna Murray Cod Australia From the southeast corner of Australia comes a one-of-a-kind fish found nowhere else. One of the largest freshwater fish in the world, Murray Cod was once hunted to the brink, but has returned to its rightful place in Australian and world gastronomy through the work of one producer. The Fish The Farm The Murray Cod is one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, and Mat Ryan was originally a dry land wheat and sheep farmer. Weary an adult can weigh well over 200 pounds. Though an iconic fish to of struggling in a commodity industry, he looked for something new the Ngarrindjeri peoples for thousands of years, it was English to grow, something that was not as dependent on volume and global colonists, more familiar with cod than with the perch to which the prices. He started in 2010 with one pond stocked with Murray Cod. fish is actually related, that gave it the name Murray Cod. Only a few Aquna now has 26 ponds, with 40 more coming online in the next years after the English colonization of Australia, commercial few years. The fish are raised in off-bottom cages. The introduction and establishment of fish populations can provide long-term, cost-effective mosquito control in habitats such as constructed wetlands and ornamental lakes. The p.idution efficacy of 7 native Brisbane freshwater fish on I st and 4th instars of the freshwater arbovirus vector culex annulirostris was evaluated in a series of 24-h laboratory trials. The trials were conducted in 30-liter plastic carboys at 25 + l"C urder a light:dark cycle of l4:10 h. The predation eflcacy of native crimson-spotted rainbowfish Melanotaenia (Melanotaeniidae), cluboulayi Australian smelt Retropinna semoni (Retropinnadae), pacific blue-eye pseudomugil (Atherinidae), signfer fly-specked hardyhead Craterocephalus stercusmLtscarum (Atherinidae), hretail gudgeon Hypseleotris gttlii (Eleotridae), empire gudgeon Hypseleotris compressa (Eleotridae), and estuary percilet Am- bassis marianus (Ambassidae) was compared with the exotic eaitern mosquitofish Getmbusia iolbrooki (poe- ciliidae). This environmentally damaging exotic has been disseminated worldwide and has been declared noxrous in Queensland. Melanotaenia duboulayi was found to consume the greatest numbers of both lst and 4th instars of Cx. annuliro.t/ri.t. The predation efficacy of the remaining Australian native species was comparable with that of the exotic G. holbrooki. With the exception of A- marianu^s, the maximum predation rates of these native species were not statistically different whether tested individually or in a school of 6. -

This paper focuses on changes to the Koala population of the Coffs Harbour Local Government Area, on the mid-north coast of New South Wales, from European settlement to 2000. The primary method used was media analysis, complemented by local histories, reports and annual reviews of fur/skin brokers, historical photographs, and oral histories. Cedar-cutters worked their way up the Orara River in the 1870s, paving the way for selection, and the fi rst wave of European settlers arrived in the early 1880s. Much of the initial development arose from logging. The trade in marsupial skins and furs did not constitute a signifi cant threat to the Koala population of Coffs Harbour in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The extent of the vegetation clearing by the early 1900s is apparent in photographs.
