Westfield Middle School 8th Grade Washington, DC & Gettysburg Tour Friday, March 29 – Monday, April 1, 2019 ITINERARY: Friday, March 29 Depart Westfield Middle School at the early time of 5:00am to travel to our nation’s capital, Washington, DC. Traveling via motorcoach, stop for fast food breakfast and lunch en route, arriving about 5:30pm. Enjoy dinner at the Ronald Reagan Building for dinner in the food court, and then head straight to the White House for a photo stop. This evening, take an illumination tour of the monuments and memorials , including the World War II memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Korean War Memorial. At the conclusion of the touring, travel to the hotel for the evening. Saturday, March 30 A deluxe breakfast buffet at the hotel starts the day before traveling to visit George Washington’s Mt. Vernon . Visit the grounds and walk through the Mansion of our first President. Next, enjoy a box lunch on the way to the Washington National Cathedral for a guided tour – see an actual moon rock, Helen Keller’s grave, a 10,000- piece stained glass window (rose window), and architectural marvels galore! Travel down Embassy Row , on the way to Arlington National Cemetery for a guided tour and viewing of the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Westfield will also be participating in a Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb. Following the ceremonies, depart Arlington National Cemetery and travel like a local, taking the METRO to Pentagon City Mall . Receive $10 cash for dinner at the food court in the Mall and then visit the Pentagon Memorial and other memorials not yet visited. Then, travel back to the Hotel for the night. Sunday, March 31 Enjoy the deluxe breakfast buffet at the hotel this morning and then travel into downtown Washington, DC. Meet up with our licensed DC tour guides for a Capitol Hill Grounds Tour , including the Library of Congress . Then, travel to the Smithsonian Museums complex and visit a couple of the museums of your choice, including the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, the American Indian Museum, the Natural History Museum, and the American History Museum. A lunch voucher will be provided for lunch at one of these museums. We’ll then walk over to the Holocaust Museum to view their Permanent Exhibit. After a full day of touring, get ready to have a fun evening of entertainment at Bobby McKey’s . Enjoy a pizza buffet and live entertainment as the dueling pianists on stage play your requests. Following the party, begin our travels back to Westfield Middle School with rest stops and a driver change made through the night. Monday, April 1 Arrive at Westfield Middle School at approximately 8:00am. Travel Package Includes: Round-trip deluxe motorcoach transportation. Nine meals ($10 fast food breakfast, $10 fast food lunch, one Ronald Reagan Food Court dinner voucher, two hot breakfast buffets, one box lunch, one Smithsonian lunch voucher, $10 Pentagon City Mall cash dinner, one pizza party at Bobby McKey’s). 2 nights hotel accommodations with private security guards. One Custom Memorial Wreath for a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery Admissions to the Washington National Cathedral, timed entry to the Holocaust Museum, George Washington’s Mt. Vernon, and African American History Museum (timed entry required). One Private event at Bobby McKey’s. One METRO ride from Arlington Metro to Pentagon City Mall Metro.
