7. ELIZABETH Charlotte boasts several large concert venues that attract a constant stream of major acts. We also have intimate entertainment venues. The Visulite Theatre is one of the most popular places to hear live music and get up close to the artists.

8. MIDTOWN Just down the road in Midtown, familiar retailers such 9 as Target and Trader Joe’s ofer a convenient place to stock up on necessities. There are many places to eat and grab cofee like Waterbean Cofee, Zoe’s Kitchen and Pizzeria Omaggio.

CAROWINDS AMUSEMENT PARK | 20 Min Located on the NC/SC border, Carowinds is home to the Southeast’s tallest roller coaster. This huge 400-acre park even hosts monsters and other scary folk at the annual SCarowinds attraction in October.

U.S. NATIONAL WHITEWATER CENTER | 30 Min Home to the world’s largest man-made whitewater river, USNWC also ofers canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, ropes courses, zip lines and more. Check out River Jam during the summer.

CROWDERS MOUNTAIN | 45 Min Crowders Mountain State Park ofers towering clifs, backcountry camping and a 25-mile view of the surrounding area. Hikes vary from intermediate to strenuous and it’s also a popular destination for rock climbers.

Rooted in a liberal arts education, we offer 42 majors and 63 minors. Our professors have extensive relationships within the community and excel at connecting and exposing you to these opportunities. Engaging and learning beyond campus is an integral part of the Queens experience – and something you will find valuable when thinking about career goals.

Arts & science students broaden their perspectives and acquire valuable skills by interning with top performing businesses, city government, international museums, non-profits and political campaigns.

Business students learn from direct exposure to top executives running Charlotte’s many Fortune 500 companies.

Communication students gain firsthand knowledge of a top 25 media market. Just ask our students who are preparing to travel to Tokyo in 2021 to cover Charlotte-related stories and athletes for the Summer Olympics.

Nursing and health science students gain valuable experiences in some of the nation’s best facilities, just walking distance from campus. Our course work will immerse you in a variety of specialties and healthcare cultures that only a first class city can ofer.
