We are celebrating San Antonio’s 69th Stock Show and Rodeo and are delighted to have you here as our guests and contestants! The San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. is a volunteer organization emphasizing agriculture and education to develop the youth of Texas. Our 6,000 volunteers and an outstanding staff are the ones who make this show possible. While we celebrate all our outstanding horse show events, we are also committed to developing and expanding our show to offer more opportunities to exhibitors. In 2014, the debut of the Youth Rodeo was met with a great deal of excitement and strong participation, and we look forward to continuing to build on that success this year with the inclusion of new events and an expanded schedule. We also offer a wide assortment of youth events throughout the rest of the show, along with educational-based contests including the Horse Skillathon. All of these provide youth an opportunity to showcase their horse knowledge and skills in a competitive setting. Scholarship winners will join a special group of scholars. Currently there are 1,500 active S.A.L.E. scholars enrolled in more than 100 colleges and universities throughout Texas. Since the inception of our show, we have provided over $186 million to the youth of Texas in the form of scholarships, grants, endowments, auctions, calf scramble and show premiums. My deep appreciation and thanks to the Horse Show Committee Chairman, Wayne Katz; Vice Chairman, Kevin Brown; Horse Show Director, Sage Hanner; Horse Show Assistant, Taylor Stockard; and all the Horse Show Volunteers.   • 2020 LSU State Horse Show Ranch Division Rules
    Ranch Division ATTIRE: Clothing must be clean and neat. Exhibitors shall wear a western hat and cowboy boots. A western style boot with a minimum of 1-inch heel can be used. A minimum of a short-sleeved shirt is required. The shirt must button or snap down the entire length of the shirt. Equitation shirts are not acceptable. Pullovers are not acceptable as a substitute for the shirt. Spurs and chaps may be worn at the option of the rider. TACK: Horses shall be shown with a stock saddle. Silver equipment will not count over a good working outfit. Legal bits are defined as: 1. 8-1/2 inch maximum length shank. Shanks may be fixed or loose; 2. With regard to mouthpieces, bars must be round, oval, or egg shaped, smooth and unwrapped metal of 5/16 to 3/4 inch in diameter, measured 1 inch from the cheek.They may be inlaid, but must be smooth or latex wrapped. Nothing may protrude below the mouthpiece (bar), such as extensions or prongs on solid mouthpieces. The mouthpiece may be two or three pieces. A three piece, connecting ring of 1-1/4 inches or less in diameter, or a connecting flat bar of 3/8 to 3/4 inches(measured top to bottom with a maximum length of 2 inches),which lies flat in the horse’s mouth is acceptable. 3. Horses six years of age and older must be ridden one handed with a shank bit. 4. The port must be no higher than 3-1/2 inches maximum, with rollers and covers acceptable.

The rodeo is a UPRA and CPRA sanctioned event By and is being sponsored by TexasBank and the Comanche Roping Club Both nights the gates open at 6:00 p.m. with the mutton bustin’ for the youth beginning at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for ages 6 to 12. Under 5 is free. Tickets may be purchased a online at PayPal.Me/ ComancheRopingClub, in the memo box specify your ticket purchase and they will check you at the gate. Tickets will be available at the gate as well. Friday and Saturday their will be a special performance at 8:00 p.m. by the Ladies Ranch Bronc Tour provided by the Texas Bronc Riders Association. After the rodeo on both nights a dance will be featured starting at 10:00 p.m. with live music. On Friday the Clint Allen Janisch Band will be performing and on Saturday the live music will be provided by Creed Fisher. On Saturday at 10:30 a.m. a rodeo parade will be held in downtown Comanche. After the parade stick around in downtown Comanche for ice cream, roping, stick horse races, vendor booths and food trucks. The parade and events following the parade are sponsored by the Comanche Chamber of Commerce. Look for the decorated windows and bunting around town. There is window decorating contest all over town that the businesses are participating in.

Horse Owner Card: If the horse is owned by a person/company/partnership other than the competitor, the owner must be a financial member of Australian Ranch Horse. Certificate of Registration for Horses: All horses entered in ARH approved shows are required to be registered with ARH at the time of entering classes.

    Ground Rules Standard Event Order : Bareback Riding, Breakaway Roping, Tie Down Roping, Barrel Racing, Steer Wrestling, Saddle Bronc Riding, Goat Tying, Team Roping, Pole Bending and Bull Riding. Cow Cutting order for double cuts: Girls Cutting, Boys Cutting, Boys Cutting and Girls Cutting. At times, a rodeo committee is approved to change the event order. The details and any change in event order is posted on the website. It is your responsibility to review the information page for each rodeo as posted on the websites schedule page. Cow Cutting: Cutting may or may not be held at the same location or same time as all qualifying rodeos. This allows the committees the opportunity to pool resources with another rodeo committee. If a cutting is held at a different location the same day of a rodeo, there will be adequate time allocated for you to travel to the rodeo grounds to compete in your remaining events. Reined Cow Horse: RCH is not a standard event and will be offered a minimum of three (3) times at the qualifying level. 10 points will be awarded for 1 st place down to 1 point for 10 th place. Because this is not a standard event, All-Around points are not awarded for the qualifying competitions. Only points earned at the state finals rodeo will apply to All- Around. Tie Down Ropers : Starting the Fall of 2020, if you “Jerk Down” a calf, you will be assessed a 5 second penalty.     RANCH TRAIL SHW305.7 Junior horses competing in western pleasure, western horsemanship, western riding, trail, reining, working cow horse, boxing, ranch riding, ranch trail, trail, all versatility ranch horse and all ranching heritage challenge classes that are shown with a hackamore or snaffle bit may be ridden with one or two hands on the reins. The tails of the reins must be crossed on the opposite side of the neck when riding with two hands on split reins except in reining , working cow horse, boxing, ranch riding, ranch trail, all VRH classes, and all RHC classes. Closed reins (example mecate) may not be used with a snaffle bit, except in working cow horse, boxing, ranch riding, ranch trail, all VRH classes and, all RHC classes, where a mecate is permitted. When using a snaffle bit in working cow horse, boxing, ranch riding, ranch trail, all VRH classes and all RHC classes, a leather or other woven material chin strap of any width is to be used and should be attached to the bit below the reins. No iron, chain, or other material is allowed. The chin strap can include metal buckles and/or keepers. SHW306.4 Protective boots, leg wraps and bandages are allowed in reining, working cow horse, boxing, team penning, ranch sorting, barrel racing, pole bending, stake racing, jumping, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, dally team roping-heading, dally team roping-heeling, cutting, western horsemanship, ranch riding, ranch trail, versatility ranch horse classes and ranching heritage classes. The use of slip on (easycare) horse boots or related footwear are not considered as protective boots and are permissible to be worn in all classes.

This show is the official State Qualifying Show for the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Show. There are three basic requirements to be eligible to participate in this show. 1. Be enrolled in Georgia 4-H as a member. 2. Own or lease the horse shown by March 1, 2019 and be able to show proof. Intent to Show and Proof of Ownership or Lease registered online by March 15, 2019. 3. Cloverleaf and Junior participants must have completed at least half of the Novice Horseman Project and Seniors all of the Novice Horseman. This must be completed by time of entry (verified by the County Extension Office) by May 8, 2019.

    Guidelines for a Special Event SC-096. Special Paint Events. Organizations or individuals wishing to stage or sponsor Special Events (i.e. team pennings, cuttings, ranch sortings, reinings, team ropings, mounted shootings, dressage competitions, speed events) must obtain approval of the APHA if the results of such events are to be recognized and points are to be awarded to the horses which place sufficiently high in that event. Approval does not carry over from year to year, but must be obtained for each individual event. All rules and regulations and fees pertaining to APHA shows will be followed in APHA Special Events. 1. A special event is limited to two judges in the arena at any given time and held on one day. a. Specialty judges may be hired for specific classes as outlined in Rule JU-000.C. 2. Mileage restriction: Rule SC-090.I.applies only if the regular APHA approved show includes the special event classes. 3. A special event can be held on contiguous dates and within 250 miles of any other APHA-approved show. However, a maximum of 2 special events can be held on contiguous dates and within 250 miles of each other. 4. Maximum events: A maximum of 3 special event categories may be held as listed below. a.
