We had been searching for a house that needed TLC for some time and this was a lovely characterful home with lots of potential that was crying out to be renovated so we have worked hard to transform it into a lovely family home. We’ve made a lot of changes to the house: we’ve knocked down walls and relocated the kitchen to create a lovely big family space, we’ve slightly altered the layout so that the house flows much better, we’ve updated the décor, sorted out the attic space and generally enhanced the feeling of light and space throughout. It is still a house with a lot of character as it retains some really nice original features but is now very much a property that has been brought up to modern standards and so is much more conducive to modern family living and entertaining’. ‘The garden is another very attractive feature of the property and completely surrounds the house so we enjoy a really good degree of privacy’ continues Sarah. ‘It is raised over different levels so there are a lot of lovely places to sit out and relax and there are a number of beautiful shrubs and mature trees that create colour and interest all year round. Thankfully the whole space has been designed to be relatively low maintenance, which has allowed us much more time to enjoy it. The gardens are a delight mainly laid to lawn with large sun terrace. and an array of mature trees and shrubs. The Lodge Pages.indd 13 21/08/2018 09:44 For us the location has been really good,” says Sarah. “We have a Post Office and cosy pub in the village, and there’s a new convenience shop about to open at the top of the road; there’s a Co-op in Brixworth and a Waitrose in Kingsthorpe, both of which are just a couple of miles away and it only takes around twenty minutes to get into Northampton so everything’s within easy reach. We also have countless really good schools in the local area so it’s a fantastic place to raise a family.” The Lodge Pages.indd 14 21/08/2018 09:44 Another thing I really love about the setting is that it’s so very peaceful and incredibly picturesque,” says Sarah. “I can lie in bed and enjoy the most glorious view of the surrounding countryside, in fact that is something I’m really going to miss when we leave.” The Lodge Pages.indd 15 21/08/2018 09:44 LOCATION Creaton is situated approximately 9 miles north of Northampton with a village green, post office, public house, and church. Recreational, shopping and leisure facilities can be found in Market Harborough and Northampton. There is a primary school in the village itself, with secondary education available at Guilsborough and private schools at Maidwell and Spratton. The rail stations are easily accessible at Long Buckby and Northampton with direct links to London Euston. Northamptonshire in the East Midlands, is a landlocked county covering an area of 2,364 square kilometres (913 sq mi), Apart from the county town of Northampton, other large population centres include Kettering, Corby,Wellingborough, Rushden and Daventry. The county contains the watershed between the River Severn and The Wash while several important rivers have their sources in the north-west of the county, including the River Nene, which flows north-eastwards to The Wash, and the “Warwickshire Avon”, which flows south-west to the Severn. The Grand Union Canal also passes through the county. Historically, Northamptonshire’s main industry was manufacturing of boots and shoes. International motor racing takes place at Silverstone Circuit and Rockingham Motor Speedway. The county boasts several hospitals, a university and motorway links include Major national roads including the M1 motorway (London to Leeds) and the A14 (Rugby to Ipswich),The A43 joins the M1 to the M40 motorway and the A45 links Northampton with Wellingborough and Peterborough.Two major trunk railway routes, the Midland Main Line and the West Coast Main Line, also cross within the county. This thesis establishes motivations for immigration and methods by which one English emigr6 achieved success in Virginia. The 1582 will of Richard Robins established a pattern of primogeniture for successive generations of his Northamptonshire family. Muster lists, wills, parish registers and a 1591 manor survey record increasing prosperity and associated expectations. Robinses were among those "better sorts" who paid taxes, provided armour, held local office, educated their children, and protcstcd against perceived government injustice. In Virginia. Richard Robins*s great grandson parlayed his assets into land, office and status. The extent of his education and financial resources was probably limited, but good health, timing.

The Design Statement was initiated, funded and supported by Creaton Parish Council but was prepared by an independent team of volunteers in consultation with all households in the village and the Local Planning Authority. A workshop and consultation/exhibition day were held to ensure that local knowledge, views and ideas were included in this document and represent those of the village. The Design Statement aims to make sure that the local distinctiveness and character of Creaton is taken into consideration when local planning decisions are being taken. Change is brought about not only by large developments, but also by the smaller day-to-day adjustments to homes and gardens, open spaces, paths and hedges, which alter the look and feel of the whole village. The Design Statement sets out the principles, design features and quality standards that should be taken into account by those wishing to build, modify or extend property in the parish of Creaton.
