All she did at Nazareth was lead the Golden Flyers to six NCAA Tournament berths while being named Empire 8 Conference Coach of the Year mullen five times . Her legacy also includes a 28- game regular-season Senior Maggie Mullin was a second team Empire 8 Conference all-star conference winning as a defender in 2008. streak that remains active . Behme’s successor is no stranger to the Nazareth campus and has been a part of the women’s lacrosse program’s foremost success . Traci Lian played lacrosse for the Golden Flyers for four seasons and was a starting defender on the program’s first NCAA Tournament team in 2000 . All things considered, Lian expects it to be business as usual for the Golden Flyers in 2009 . “I have high expectations to be able to continue the success that we’ve had here,” said Lian, who compiled a 62-31 record in six seasons as head coach at Brockport . “Our goal is to make it back to the NCAAs ”. Nazareth won the regular-season conference title in 2008, but lost in the first round of the conference tournament and missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five years . Even though the goals for ‘09 remain unaltered, Lian will likely incorporate some new strategies in an effort to maximize the team’s offensive potential . Part of Lian’s optimism stems from the return of six of the team’s top seven scorers, including 39-goal scorer Nora Davis, a junior midfielder . Davis and fellow midfielders Jennifer Young and Michelle Cook, a junior and a Fusco sophomore respectively, combined to score 83 goals in 2008 -- or roughly 63 percent of the team’s offense . They should be centerpieces again in ‘09 . Senior goalie Maria Fusco has started regularly Senior Kate Schneeberger contributed 11 goals last season and should for Nazareth the last two seasons. continue to stabilize the midfield . 5 Women’s lacrosse 2009 returning players
