    REPORT OF THE NCAA DIVISION III CHAMPIONSHIPS COMMITTEE JUNE 22, 2021, VIDEOCONFERENCE ACTION ITEMS. 1. Legislative items. • None. 2. Nonlegislative items. • None. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS. 1. Opening remarks and review of schedule and agenda. Division III Championships Committee Chair Kiki Jacobs welcomed committee members and reviewed the meeting schedule and key discussion items. 2. Recent committee reports. The committee reviewed and approved a combined report from its May 5, 7 and 12 electronic votes as presented. 3. Governance update. NCAA staff reviewed the following key items with the committee: (1) next steps following the U.S. Supreme Court decision in the Alston case; (2) update on student- athlete name, image and likeness concepts being considered by various groups within the NCAA membership; (3) national office staff support and NCAA website reorganization; (4) Division III budget update; (5) COVID-19 resources and resocialization guidelines; (6) Division III strategic-positioning platform; (7) Division III Football Concussion Task Force; (8) student-athlete enrollment/athletics participation waiver for the 2021-22 academic year; (9) Division III legislative proposals in the cycle for the 2022 NCAA Convention; (10) resources and best practices available to help prevent sexual violence; and (11) LGBTQ recognition awards. 4. Division III Management Council update. Holly Sheilley provided an update from the Management Council’s recent meetings. 5. Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee update. Jaeden Peterson, from the Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, sitting in for Bridgett Finn who was unable to attend, provided an update on behalf of the Division III SAAC that included the group’s ongoing review of issues related to student-athlete name, image and likeness, as well as the NCAA gender equity study.

    Individual and team records falling for Spring sports teams With the Spring sports season rapidly winding down, individual and team records are falling at nearly as great a pace as the temperature did from Monday to Tuesday afternoon. Nearly every team has had a noteworthy accomplishment, as the postseason begins for every squad this weekend. Women’s lacrosse enters the 2009 Empire 8 Tournament already having set a school record with 12 victories. The Tigers have also set numerous team records this season, including most goals scored (189) and points (261). Senior goalkeeper Kelsey Evans was named the Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year for the third straight season this morning. She is second nationally with a .584 save percentage, 10th with 184 saves and 13th with an 8.43 goals against average. She will go over the 800-career save plateau on Saturday, and holds every career record at RIT. The Tigers are the No. 2 seed in the 2009 Empire 8 Tournament and will play No. 3 Nazareth in the second semifinal on Saturday at Stevens starting at 2 p.m. No. 1 Stevens and No. 4 Fisher will play in the first semifinal at 12 p.m., with the two winners meeting on Sunday. RIT defeated Nazareth, 17-5 on April 4. It was RIT’s first ever win over Nazareth. Now, RIT has a chance to beat the Golden Flyers twice in one season. Softball is the No. 4 seed in the Empire 8 Tournament will play at top-seed Ithaca in the double elimination format starting on Friday at 12 p.m.

    Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Reports to: Head Men’s Basketball Coach Summary of Responsibilities: Houghton College, a Christian Liberal Arts College located in Western New York, seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. Houghton, as members of the NCAA Division III, participates in the Empire 8 Conference. Houghton College is an academically rigorous and vibrant Christian college, with a tradition of student athletes excelling in the classroom as well as on the field. The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach will assist the head coach in the planning, organizing, and coaching of the men’s basketball team. Work Performed: • Assist in the leadership and instruction of the personal and athletic development of student athletes. • Assist in preparation of analyses of opponents; analyze statistics and tactical data of opponents and prepare game plans accordingly. • Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters; consult with Head Coach for resolution of problems as required. • Assist in the recruitment of new potential athletes. • Provide opportunities for spiritual growth and formation, including such activities as team devotions, individual discipleship and mentoring, and planning of mission trips domestically and abroad. • Assist in the implementation of innovations of strategy and equipment. • Assist with the implementation of the summer sports camp. • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. • Other duties as assigned.
