This issue contains the first village flora to be included. Barbara Last has systematically recorded the plants growing in Berwick St James, and her article gives an account of her findings. Hopefully, it will inspire others to do similar work in their own localities. Our second article is the first systematic account we have published on the vegetation of Salisbury Plain. In this case, Kevin Walker and Richard Pywell describe the grassland communities of the MoD Training Area. Saturday, 25th July 2020 – BBQ. GENERAL INFORMATION Meeting arrangements – The meeting point for Sunday walks is Salt Lane car park, in Salisbury, unless stated otherwise. Weekday walkers are encouraged to share cars whenever possible, to reduce mileage and ease any parking limitations at the starting points listed. Starting point of a walk – If it is necessary to change the starting point of a walk, the walk leader will redirect walkers from the published start point to the new rendezvous. Please share transport if practicable, taking as few cars as possible to the new start point. Please check website for any changes. Lifts – Drivers may accept donations of £2 for journeys up to ½ hour to the start, £3 for journeys between ½ to 1 hour and £4 for journeys taking over 1 hour to the start. Refreshments – A pub is usually available at the end of shorter walks (of up to about 7 miles). There is also usually a coffee break during these walks. On longer walks (and all Sunday Walks) you should bring food and plenty of water or other suitable drinks, unless advised otherwise. -

Life 3 studies in the Blackwater and Highland Water sub-catchments found that glides tend be to the most common form of flow followed by riffles and runs. Pools (still water) are noticeably rare in modified reaches being replaced by glides or runs. Pools where they occur are usually found at meander bends apices. Cascades and small water falls also occur at the faces of debris dams. Channelisation tends to affect the flow type in that it reduces the number of pools. Dominant flow types for the Highland Water and Black Water are shown in Figure 10. It is probable that a similar pattern would be found in the other river catchments. 3.4.6 Bank & bed material Bank material is made up of clay, fines, sand and gravel. -

SN15 4RY 28th April 2014 Area Development Manager Development Services Wiltshire Council Dear Sir APPLICATION NO: 14/03544/FUL: HAZELWOOD FARM OBJECTION I object to this planning application. I have concerns about: conservation; lack of parking spaces for plots 76 to 80; the proposal for the houses on Seagry Rd to have rendered walls; the number of dwellings and the need to have as much as 30% affordable housing; there is also a flood risk on Seagry Rd. I would like to make the following comments: Conservation. The application seeks to demolish an old farm building situated within a conservation area. Although the roof of the building has deteriorated, the walls are in reasonably sound condition. The corners, window and door frames are of dressed stone and some of the doors have arched stone lintels. The walls are built of local cut stone. If this building were to be demolished then a historical building which has stood on Seagry Road for well over a century will be lost. This building could be converted into a dwelling rather than be demolished. The point of a conservation area is surely to conserve what is already there. Parking. Plots 76-80 have only 1 designated parking place each; there is also direct pedestrian access from each house onto the road which will result in vehicles being parked on Seagry Road. This is a country road with no footpath, as a result pedestrians are forced into the middle of the road to pass any parked vehicles. -

We have much to be proud of, and we should aim to protect those elements of our natural and built environment which provide Seagry with its distinctive character. However, we also need to harness the potential of our community’s setting and amenities so that it continues to thrive. Striking the delicate balance between those two objectives is at the heart of this Neighbourhood Plan. This Neighbourhood Plan has been developed by the people of Seagry for the people of Seagry.
