A few months ago we stumbled over our 50th anniversary publication from 1970. It was published just half a year after the moon landing and even before major events like the Olympic Games in Munich 1972 and the football world cup 1974 in Germany. The publication brings back nice memories and is indeed a historical document for our Solingen-based family business. Back then, led in the 2nd generation, we were able to make our mark as a manufacturer of fine shaving and manicure products. This success was always based on consistency, quality and cohesion. Back then, I was accompanying my father and followed him into management. Today, 50 years later, it is my daughter leading the Giesen & Forsthoff together with myself into the future. Our credo now and then has always been the combination of traditional designs with highest quality materials. Even more important today - any of our handmade or hand selected products needs to match strict rules regarding quality, feel and looks. Our traditional, handmade straight razor is probably the best example for our passion, which also secures our position in the niche of traditional wet shaving. We are now happy to present to you our full catalog 2020/2021. As usual, you can look forward to new combinations of stainless steel, selected woods and precious horn. But we do not only offer new colours and variations. In addition to our women‘s shaving line ZÓE, we also offer a full range for men under the label 1920, in homage to our 100th anniversary, a complete series that leaves nothing to be desired. The Gentle Shaver is an interesting unisex shave product with entry-level prices for your customers. 4 Do you already know our new shaving and beard care series? All G&F care products are produced in the best organic quality and are 100% vegan. For us as a medium-sized manufacturer, the topic of sustainability and environmental protection is also more than important. Our products are not only popular in the zero waste segment, but we also want to take the next steps ourselves, e.g. regarding our packaging, and try to avoid plastic where possible. Almost 70% of our packaging is already plastic-free. We are particularly happy that for the first time in our history we can offer you an alternative to leather on manicure sets. Discover with us 100% vegan cork material, which will surely convince you with its look and feel. By the way, there will be a special collector‘s edition of our handmade razor for the anniversary. The handles are made from an old beer barrel, of course also 100 years old. We will inform you separately in the anniversary year. Enough words. We hope that you will browse through our catalog with the same pleasure as we do. 4th and 3rd generation, Katharina and Peter Giesen 5 6 7 Handmade straight razors The blades are hollow-ground with finesse. 8 Handmade straightHandmade razors G&F straight razors. In this shiur we need to apply the principles that we learned in Part 1 to the electric shaver and understand the contemporary psak. A] THE HISTORY OF THE ELECTRIC SHAVER • 1879 - invention of the manual beard-clipping machine, mentioned by poskim at the end of the 19C. • 1898 - patents first filed for an electric razor. • 1903 - invention of the safety razor by Gillette in the US. This was marketed in Europe from 1905. • 1925 - invention of the electric safety razor and the vibro-shave. • 1931 - Jacob Schick created the first electric shaver. This was already referenced in the US poskim by 1932.1 • 1939 - Phillips began to produce the shaver with a round head. 2 • 1980s - Invention of the ‘Lift & Cut’ electric shaver. • Machete Fighting in Haiti, Cuba, and Colombia
ABSTRACT: This article explores the history of fencing with machetes among people of African descent in Haiti, Cuba, and Colombia. The machete, a sacred icon of individual success and warfare in Africa, became for enslaved Africans a tool used in exploiting their labor.

A Guide to Switchblades, Dirks and Daggers Second Edition December, 2015 How to tell if a knife is “illegal.” An analysis of current California knife laws. By: This article is available online at: http://bit.ly/knifeguide I. Introduction California has a variety of criminal laws designed to restrict the possession of knives. This guide has two goals: • Explain the current California knife laws using plain language. • Help individuals identify whether a knife is or is not “illegal.” This information is presented as a brief synopsis of the law and not as legal advice. Use of the guide does not create a lawyer/client relationship. Laws are interpreted differently by enforcement officers, prosecuting attorneys, and judges. Dmitry Stadlin suggests that you consult legal counsel for guidance. Page 1 A Guide to Switchblades, Dirks and Daggers II. Table of Contents I. I have a Ruana Smoke Jumper and wear it regularly when working outside or just spending time in the woods. You couldn’t ask for a better short- bladed "belt" knife. Short bladed, under 4", will cut nearly everything that a person needs to cut. However, what if you don’t have a belt onto which to secure that sheath knife? Maybe you’re wearing sweat pants, coveralls or another beltless outfit. Or what if a knife on your belt is a bit too obvious in this politically correct world? Do you grab your folding knife with clip or your neck knife? Though both of these are viable options, I think there is an even better option.
