Daron played for the Kanata Ottawa Senators Bantam AA and was a member of Team James at the 2010 Ontario Winter Games. D.I.F.D. is inspired by hope for a future where young people will reach out for help without fear or shame. D.I.F.D. supports programs and initiatives aimed at transforming youth mental health. The Ontario Women's Hockey Association is inspired by the strength and commitment of Daron’s parents, Stephanie and Luke and her sister Morgan as they work tirelessly to create awareness and reduce stigma. They are truly an inspiration and are having a very positive impact in carrying forward the message that youth mental health is worth talking about. 1 in 5 youth are affected by mental illness, but only 1 in 6 receive treatment or service; 42% of youth say they would feel uncomfortable revealing they had a mental illness; Suicide is the second leading cause of death in 15‐24 year old Canadians.
