Submitted by Henry Rice, Pamlico County Schools On Friday, April 28, two sport standout, Grace Preston signed a letter of intent to play volleyball and softball with North Carolina Wesleyan College. Grace has played varsity volleyball and softball for four years at PCHS. She is excited about the opportunity to be able to continue playing the sports she loves. Grace has been accepted academically to attend several other larger universities in North Carolina but is pleased that NC Wesleyan has offered her the opportunity to attend their college and to continue to partici- pate in the sports that she enjoys. Currently, Grace has a batting average of .356 and on the defensive side, Grace is the Hurricanes starting pitcher. North Carolina Wesleyan College, located in Rocky Mount, NC, is a NCAA Division III school and a member of the USA South Athletic Conference. When asked why she chose NC Wesleyan, Grace gave two reasons, the first being the opportunity to play two sports and secondly, that small class sizes would allow her to be more than just a number. The school mascot for NC Wesleyan is the Battling Bishops.
