(Nasdaq: SBGI) affiliate stations WBFF (Baltimore), WJLA (Washington, DC), WJAR (Providence), WGME (Portland, ME), KRCG (Columbia/Jefferson City), WHAM (Rochester) and WRGB (Albany) have all earned nationally recognized awards for outstanding journalism. At the Chesapeake Associated Press Association regional awards, WBFF won seven first place awards and seven finalist awards, including Outstanding News Series for its “Project Baltimore” grade fixing investigation, while WJLA took home two awards. At the New York State Associated Press Association regional awards, WRGB won four awards, and WHAM won two awards including Best Documentary on the opioid epidemic. WJAR and WGME each won an Emmy award at the New England/Boston Chapter of National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. WJAR won the prestigious Emmy Award for best newscast.
