October 2019 October 2019 COACHES CORNER Wow…. What a busy start to the school year!! Our athletics programs at Louis St. Laurent are well under way. In Junior High we have our Senior Girls and Boys soccer teams competing in Division 1 coached by Alessia Schiavon/Melissa O’Connor and Mark Klopoushak/Leon Vandendooren respectively (With Ms. Angela Constanzo being our fearless driver). Good luck to all of our teams as they enter playoffs in early October. October 2019 Junior High Cross-country team coached by Mr. Ryan McCarville have completed their Cross Country Season. They competed in the Trail Race on September 20th and in the City Championships on September 27th at 12:30pm (Gold Bar Park). We had much success this year. We have already completed our Junior High Volleyball Camp where we had 75 students in grade 6, 7, 8, and 9 attend. Thank you to our Varsity Men and Women Volleyball Teams for coaching these athletes. Kings Tournament (2nd Place): October 2019 Lillian Osborne Invitational (CHAMPIONS): October 2019 St. Paul Tazmanian Tournament (3/4th Place): October 2019 Varsity Men finished in 2nd in the Lillian Osborne Tournament (Allstars: Josef Umali, Peter Dokken and Austin Ly) and 3/4th in the St. Paul Tazmanian Tournament (Allstar: Chase Dolan) Lillian Osborne Invitational (2nd Place): October 2019 Junior Varsity Men Volleyball team Consolation Champions TPC Invitational: October 2019 Varsity Golf Team (Coach: Brent Petryk) has started out the year at the Zone Qualifying Tournament (Congratulations to Dylan Hawryshko, Caden Boonstra and Ryan Misick for representing LSL). The golf season will continue again in the spring. Varsity Cross-Country Team (Coach: Paul Horpynuik/Erin Yarmuch) have competed in 2 event so far. The Edmonton Zone Championship is on October 9th at Goldbar Park. Those who qualify for Provincials will be representing LSL in Eagle Butte October 19th • (Top 18 from zones qualify for each division). Good luck!! Oh YA!!!! We also have the 31th ANNIVERSARY of SMASH this Month with Opening Ceremonies /SMASH Volleyball Tournament running Oct 25th-26th. ALL STUDENTS, PARENTS and ALUMNI are welcome and encouraged to stop in and see some exciting volleyball with the best 3A Volleyball Teams in the Province competing to be SMASH Champions!! Please come out and join in the school spirit!! What a great event that showcases all of the talents of our entire school community.
