A type. Setting out of context - in the car park complex of Living Legend. Post Box no.31 Le Mont de Gouray St. Martin Cast iron Victorian wall box, 1871-3. Small size 'C' type (25x76cm, 15cm aperture).Recessed collection plate in door. One of 19 VR boxes on Jersey. Cast by Smith & Hawkes - one of only four on the island. Poorly situated in a small section of brick wall adjacent to Sous l’Eglise. Post Box no.38 Longueville Road St. Saviour Cast iron Victorian wall box (26.5x71.5, 15.5 aperture). Cast by Allen. Relocated to a wall adjacent to the entrance to a renovated complex of historic buildings (Longueville Court) so devaluing its contribution to the street scene. Post Box no.154 La Rue du Temple St. John Cast iron Victorian wall box. A rare large size A type (51x199cm, high cipher and aperture). Cast by Allen. Associated with sub office in St John, opened near the church in 1899. Set incongruously in a modern freestanding planter in car park. Post Box no.156 La Route du Port Elizabeth St. Helier An unusual Victorian wall box. Medium B type with high aperture and three ring crown. Cast by Allen. Located inside 1980s Elizabeth Terminal building. Post Box no.179 Halkett Place St. Helier The earliest surviving Victorian post box in Jersey – an 1866 John Penfold design (Hexagonal. Medium Size, 4th Modification). The only Penfold box on the island. Original location unclear - moved from Fort Regent to market in 1972 when sub post office opened. Post Box no.59 Seaton Place St. Helier A large Edward VII wall box, cast by Allen. Sits in modern brick wall and does not contribute to street scene. Post Box no.77 La Rue Mahier St. Mary An Edward VII wall box (27x71cm, small size C type, new crown) 1904-10. Cast by Allen. Poor setting, in a rendered pier at the end of a dwelling. Post Box no.79 La Route des Cotils Grouville An Edward VII wall box (27x72cm) cast by Allen. Set in a modern brick pier at gateway to modern house. Post Box no.65 Bagatelle Road St. Saviour George V wall box. Uncommon example cast by Derby in 1932 - one of only two in Jersey. Set in boundary wall in area of modern dwellings. Post Box no.182 La Rue de la Sergente St. Brelade An early George V wall box (35x84cm) with small cipher. Cast by Allen. Set in stone wall extending from outbuildings of dwelling. Post Box no.88 Bagatelle Road St. Saviour An uncommonly large / wide George VI wall box (52x120cm, D type) cast by McDowell. Sub Office established in 1889, moving in 1969 and again to present position in 1974. Set in modern brick pier outside modern shop. Post Box no.143 La Rue du Clos Fallu St. Martin George VI wall box (35x84.5cm) 1937-52. Cast by Allen. Located in wall of electricity substation. Post Box no.157 Marett Road St. Helier An uncommon George VI wall box - cast by McDowell. Set in rendered wall of modern building. v Historic Post Boxes in Jersey Post Box no.3 The Parade St. Helier Elizabeth II square pillar box, of a rare G type. Not listed elsewhere in the British Isles because of the 30 year rule when English Heritage listed post boxes. Post Box no.30 or no.181 Broad Street St. Helier A pair of uncommon large Elizabeth II wall boxes (51x120cm) cast by Carron. Set in a modern partition wall. Post Box no.172 Albert Quay St. Helier A rare example of Elizabeth II lamp box on pedestal. Set in a poor context at Albert Pier terminal. Post Box no.180 South Hill St. Helier An early Elizabeth II wall box (medium size B type) with uncommon feature - 'Next Collection' on raised plate below 10"aperture. Cast by Carron vi .
