North Maluku electrical system is divided into 7 system that is Ternate Tobelo, Tidore, Bacan, Sanana and Daruba, and plus 21 smaller generating units spread out. The source of electricity North Maluku province is dominated (99%) from fossil fuel by using diesel engine, and small portion from solar energy (1%). Total capacity of the electricity is 200MW, with peak load 186 MW. Keywords: Electrcity, North Maluku INTRODUCTION North Maluku province has an area of 145.8 thousand km2 with the Provincial Capital in Sofifi. Administratively, this province consists of 7 districts and 2 cities. Regencies and cities are: Halmahera Barat, Central Halmahera, Sula Islands, South Halmahera, North Halmahera, East Halmahera, Morotai Island, Ternate, and Tidore Islands. The source of electricity North Maluku province is dominated (99%) from fossil fuel by using diesel engine, and small portion from solar energy (1%). Total capacity of the electricity is 200MW, with peak load 186 MW. At Ambon city, the demand of electricity in peak load 56 MW. And there are 400 villages in North Maluku province that still does not have any electrity. North Maluku electrical system is divided into 7 system that is Ternate Tobelo, Tidore, Bacan, Sanana and Daruba, and plus 21 smaller generating units spread out. System of Electricity in North Maluku With this electricity condition, it is seen that the centers of power plant capacity both large and small are placed on county/city and sub-district or close to the load centers and is unable to reach burden in remote areas both located in the mainland as well as the separated by the island, due to the limited distribution through distribution system. Consequently there is still village not got electricity as shown in Table 1, which reached 438 villages. This condition indicates that the overall load on the supply using Power Diesel (diesel) both owned by PT. PLN or leased by the private company and for the islands or villages not reached by PLN electricity needs be pursued independently and partially by the locals. Table 1. In selected areas of solar radiation reaching the highest average 342 988 W/m2 in October and the lowest is 186 547 W/m2 in December as reported by BMKG, whereas wind potential could reach above 5 m/s. Data solar radiation and wind speed showed both the potential of this type of renewable energy need to be developed. The method used in this research that merge of the two sources of renewable energy, namely solar and wind energy into a system that is referred to as photovoltaic/wind hybrid system. The hybrid system can maximize the energy in the raised and more economical. PURPOSE OF STUDY The purposes of this study are how to increase electrical ratio, how to increase renewable energy mix and to maximize energy potential that is located in Ternate, also to solve problem for isolated location in Ternate. The results of this study are expected to help people who are in the area or remote villages in North Maluku region that until now has not reached by electricity so that it can support the activities of their lives. In addition, the results of this study may contribute to the development of electricity in North Maluku focused on the utilization of renewable energy technologies, especially solar and wind energy to be a good reference for the government and private sectors in planning the utilization of renewable energy more comprehensive. PROBLEMS The problems of this study are the dependency for diesel oil as fuel for power plant; the isolation of islands at North Maluku thus only Ternate has enough electricity; the villages at the border had issue about electrical crisis; Earth Quake or another nature disaster. Fig 2. The Location of Tidore Island. METHODOLOGY This study uses the software HOMER to see the techno-economic feasibility of the system hybrid PV/Wind or other scenarios. The study begins by investigating the potential of solar and wind energy show at that location has a solar and wind energy potential is high enough to generate electrical energy. This study uses the software HOMER. The output of the simulation generates a feasible list which hybrid system combined system with the most cost effective with the lowest net present cost is a combination of PV-wind turbine-generator-battery-converter that is set up with a generator operated under the strategy of base load or load following (LF). By using HOMER can be seen that the wind turbine and battery is an important component of the system is a hybrid PV/wind to meet the load demand at night, both of these components contribute greatly to the cost of the system, selecting the best measure of both to minimize costs, but with notice that no load is not met. Survei burung dengan menggunakan metode titik hitung dan jaring telah dilakukan di Halmahera, Maluku Utara di empat lokasi utama yaitu Wosea, Ake Jira, Tofu Blewen dan Bokit Mekot. Sebanyak 70 spesies burung dari 32 famili dijumpai selama penelitian lapangan. Keragaman burung tertinggi ditemukan di Tofu Blewen yaitu 50 spesies (Indeks Shannon = 2.64) kemudian diikuti oleh Ake Jira (48 spesies, Indeks Shannon = 2,63), Wosea (41 spesies, Indeks Shannon = 2,54) dan Boki Mekot (37 spesies, Indeks Shannon = 2,52 ). Berdasarkan Indeks Kesamaan Jaccard, komunitas burung di Wosea jauh berbeda dibandingkan lokasi lain. Gangguan habitat dan ketinggian memperlihatkan pengaruh pada keragaman burung terutama pada jenis-jenis endemik dan terancam seperti komunitas di Wosea. Beberapa jenis burung, terutama paruh bengkok seperti Kakatua Putih, menunjukkan hubungan negatif dengan ketinggian . ANDAYA U:-fIVERSITY OF From an outsider's viewpoint, the diversity of language and ethnic groups scattered through numerous small and often inaccessible islands in Maluku might appear to be a major deterrent to economic contact between communities. But it was because these groups lived on small islands or in forested larger islands with limited arable land that trade with their neighbors was an economic necessity Distrust of strangers was often overcome through marriage or trade partnerships. However, the most . effective justification for cooperation among groups in Maluku was adherence to common origin myths which established familial links with societies as far west as Butung and as far east as the Papuan islands. I The records of the Dutch East India Company housed in the State Archives in The Hague offer a useful glimpse of the operation of local trading networks in Maluku. Although concerned principally with their own economic activities in the area, the Dutch found it necessary to understand something of the nature of Indigenous exchange relationships. The information, however, never formed the basis for a report, but is scattered in various documents in the form of observations or personal experiences of Dutch officials. From these pieces of information it is possible to reconstruct some of the complexity of the exchange in MaJuku in these centuries and to observe the dynamism of local groups in adapting to new economic developments in the area.   • INTRODUCTION Prince Nuku of Tidore Is Recognized As One Of
    INTRODUCTION Prince Nuku of Tidore is recognized as one of the national heroes (pahlawan nasional) of Indonesia. He was the leader of a successful rebel- lion against the Dutch East India Company (Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie, VOC) and its indigenous allies which lasted for more than twenty years. Born as a Tidoran prince between 1725 and 1735, he passed away as the Sultan of Tidore in 1805.1 In 1780 he fled from Tidore seek- ing refuge in East Seram, Halmahera, and the Raja Ampat from where he launched the rebellion. In 1797 he returned to Tidore with his allied forces and conquered the Sultanates of both Bacan and Tidore. During his exile, Nuku had to fight the forces of the three VOC Governments in Maluku: Ternate, Ambon, and Banda.2 Besides possessing better weapon- ry and equipment, the VOC could also mobilize its indigenous subjects from places such as Ambon and Ternate as troops. In addition, the VOC often dispatched support forces such as ships, weaponry, and soldiers to Maluku from Batavia. In 1801, in close collaboration with the English, Nuku managed to defeat the VOC in Ternate and its indigenous ally, the Ternate Sultanate. Prince Nuku and his Tidoran adherents depended to a large extent on the support they received from various groups of Malukans and Papuans and the assistance of the English. It is intriguing to see what strategies he employed to maintain support among the Tidorans at home, his adher- ents in the periphery of Tidore, and even the English. INTRODUCTION For the past thirty years I have, from time to time, come across bird material and literature records which have added localities and in a few instances have ad• ded new species, to Van Bemmel's (1948) list of birds of the Moluccan Islands and its supplement, published five years later (Van Bemmel & Voous, 1953). I have kept notes of these additions with the vague idea of perhaps, some time in the future, publishing a revised edition of the list of the avifauna of the Moluc• cas, zoogeographically one of the most interesting regions of the world. The sum total of my notes to date would hardly have justified publication, were it not for the fact that a new list of Moluccan birds was in the course of preparation by the late C. M. N. White, and is to be posthumously completed and published (cf. Benson, 1979; Cranbrook, 1980). This made it desirable to have my notes published, so that they will be available for inclusion in the new list. Ornithological activity in the Moluccas since the publication of Van BemmePs list has been limited. Many of De Haan's results were already incorporated in the paper by Van Bemmel & Voous (1953); subsequently two new subspecies from his collections were described by Jany (1955).
