February 26, 2021 President, Search Committee New College of Florida Via Electronic Mail Dear Members of the Search Committee: As I read your engaging presidential prospectus, I was drawn to New College of Florida’s distinctive liberal arts model. The opportunity to expand on the college’s influence and build on this unique model that is “open-minded, minimally prescriptive, customized, and evolutionary” invigorates me. Each time I read it I feel myself gaining energy and purpose. I enthusiastically submit my “curriculum vitae,” highlighting a cutting edge integration of applied liberal arts, the intersection of career development and education, an inclusive and welcoming community that builds trust, enhanced organizational effectiveness, and successful financial leadership with partnerships and fundraising. My qualifications and experiences prepare me particularly well to help build an increasingly visible role for New College of Florida that draws interest and enrollment from new pools of students throughout the state, region, nation and world. When I first enrolled at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, as an undergraduate, I encountered faculty who were ready and eager to mentor and guide me. One example is Dori Katz, my faculty advisor, who did not tell me that majoring in French would be impossible because I am deaf. She said, "I will help you." But I soon learned that she didn't know how. So I began to teach her about my world, as she taught me about hers. Without the discussion we sustained and the careful attention she gave me over four years, I may never have become the educated, ethical and engaged citizen that I am today. -

CHAN SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS The Harvard Education and Research Center for Occupational Safety and Health is a NIOSH-designated training center serving the New England region and the nation. GRADUATE PROGRAMS The Center offers graduate training in the following disciplines related to occupational safety and health: occupational medicine, occupational hygiene, occupational epidemiology, occupational and environmental molecular epidemiology, and injury prevention and control. Both master’s and doctoral programs are available. RESEARCH Faculty, staff, and students at the Center conduct research related to the cause, prevention and treatment of work-associated safety and health problems. The research includes priorities identified by NIOSH as leading workplace illness and injury. CONTINUING EDUCATION The Continuing Education Program, conducted jointly with the Center for Continuing Professional Education, designs and produces professional development programs, conferences, and custom programs for occupational safety and health professionals, paraprofessionals, and technicians. The programs, often co-sponsored with other organizations, are held at the School and at other sites in New England. It is the mission of the Center to develop, present and promote educational opportunities that are timely, relevant, and of the highest quality. To that end, we welcome your comments about how to better serve your needs. OUTREACH The visiting scholars program for faculty of other institutions of higher education and other professionals seeks to impact the curricula of other schools and to increase awareness of work- place safety and health issues in government agencies and corporations at the local and state levels. -

On Tuesday, January 16, 2018, New England College celebrated Founders Day. James Wright, PhD, President Emeritus, Dartmouth College, served as the keynote speaker and received an honorary degree. The following are Dr. Wright’s remarks. ---------- Thank you, President Perkins. I appreciate your warm welcome. Greetings to members of the board, faculty, staff, and students. And a special salute to community members. This school started because this community wanted it and worked to make it succeed. I hope the citizens of Henniker and of this region take real pride in what you have accomplished. I am honored to be here today and to join in this January celebration. My daughter Ann was enrolled here thirty-five years ago, studying on this campus as well as at Arundel, and this was a good school for her. New England College is an important part of our vital higher education community. As someone who was a first-generation college graduate, one who enrolled after military service, I have a special affection for this school and its heritage, and its commitment to providing educational opportunities for everyone. As a historian, I am pleased to participate in recognition of an institution’s founding. And not simply as a celebration, but as an occasion to remember the work and the goals of the founders, an opportunity to assess how a place has evolved in the passing years. I am not an originalist. I do believe that organizations and institutions and individuals must adapt to a changing world. But they must do it in a way that affirms what they stand for: Their founding purpose. -

Colby-Sawyer College Tuition Benefits Revised 4/1/06 Program & Procedures Page 1 TUITION EXCHANGE PROGRAMS Dependent children of full-time Colby-Sawyer employees may be eligible for three different tuition exchange programs: • National Tuition Exchange Program (NTE) • Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) • New Hampshire College and University Council (NHCUC) Tuition Exchange Program The National Tuition Exchange Program provides scholarships at approximately 570 institutions throughout the United States (see complete list at www.tuitionexchange.org ). This program is coordinated by the Tuition Exchange organization of Washington, DC, and operates on a credit/debit system. Because scholarships are not available every year, employees should check with human resources and/or financial aid regarding availability. The CIC Tuition Exchange Program (CIC-TEP) is a network of Council of Independent Colleges institutions willing to accept, tuition-free, students from families of full-time employees of other CIC- TEP institutions. Each participating institution in the network (see www.cic.edu) agrees to import a limited number of students on the same admission basis as they accept all other students, without regard to the number of students it exports. The NHCUC Tuition Exchange Program The NHCUC Cooperative Tuition Remission Program is a network of seven private colleges and universities in New Hampshire willing to accept, tuition-free, students from families of full-time faculty and staff of other NHCUC participating institutions (http://www.nhcuc.org) The NHCUC coordinates this program and historically there have been no limits on the number of scholarships available. ELIGIBILITY The following describes eligibility for all programs: • Faculty and staff members must be regular full-time employees of Colby-Sawyer College, which means that their normal work schedule is at least 30 hours per week for at least 9 months of the year. -
