Original wrappers, 33cm, 9 pp, very good condition. The formulation of the formal definition of the Palestine Mandate was an iterative process that took place between 1920 and 1922. There are 3 key official British Government documents that formed part of this process. This document, then the Final Draft Mandate and then the Palestine Mandate as agreed by the League of Nations. In this draft of the document, Palestine was to include TransJordan (the East of the River Jordan) Cmd. 1176 [ref: 6690 ] £295

Part of a series of Zionist pamphlets edited by H Sacher, Leon Simon and S Landman. No 3 in the series. Harry Sacher (1881 - 1971) was a protege of Chaim Weizmann and was one of the drafters of the Balfour Declaration. He was an active Zionist all his life and wrote many pamphlets and articles promoting Zionism and comments on the unfolding of events in Palestine and the State of Israel. Samuel Landman (1884 - 1967) became a committed Zionist after meeting Max Nordau. [ref: 4909 ] £95

THE JEWISH MARINE LEAGUE THE JEWISH MARINE LEAGUE SOUVENIR BOOKLET London, Caledonian Press Ltd. 1946 Original illustrated wrappers, 22cm., 27pp., text in English, some mild soiling to wrappers, overall in very good condition. The Jewish Marine League described themselves as ‘The Pioneer Jewish Professional Seafaring Organisation’. This souvenir booklet was issued on the occasion of the Jewish Marine League's Ball in London 1946. It is illustrated throughout with pictures of members of the Jewish Marine League. A notice on the front cover relates to the death of Chief Rabbi Hertz, saying it was with regret that they just heard after going to press of Rabbi Hertz’s death. Rabbi Hertz was President of the Jewish Marine League and there is a reproduction of a letter from Rabbi Hertz addressed to Mr Leftwich saying how he regrets not being well enough to attend the dinner and how “Jews have been renowned seafarers in the days of old; and the Bible speaks of Dan, Asher and Zebulun as seafarers”.
