    UPON THIS SUMMER 2019SUMMER How EWTN Catholic Radio Brought Keith Back to the Catholic Church I have been on a roller coaster for a number of years in regard to my Christian faith and my return to the Catholic Church. I am a cradle Catholic. My parents are almost 90 and still attend weekly Mass at St Leo’s in Cleveland where I was baptized, received First Holy Communion and confirmed. Like a typical child of the baby boomer years I was, as Father John Riccardo likes to say, “…sacramentalized, but never evangelized.” I attended Mass and CCD classes until I was old enough to say I was going but never showed up. By the time I was 16 I never attended church again until I was married at age 21, yes, of course in the Catholic Church. We had a daughter and raised her in the Church where she was also sacramentalized but never evangelized. That marriage lasted seven years and then we divorced due mainly to my excessive drinking. The marriage was later annulled by the Catholic Church. For the next 13 years I did not attend any type of church. My drinking progressed, and I became an alcoholic. During my ten or so years of active addiction to alcohol, I was a godless person. I lived a life of self-will run rampant; a very selfish, self-centered life. At age 40 I found the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous and I currently have 27 years of sobriety. This is where I started the second phase of my spiritual journey.
