> Title: Need to construct a rail over bridge on level crossing no. 427 near Satchiapuram village on Sivakasi-Srivilliputhur section in Virudhunagar parliamentary constituency Tamil Nadu. SHRI MANICKA TAGORE (VIRUDHUNAGAR): The level-crossing located at Satchiapuram Village (LC No.427) at km.563/100 on Sivakasi-Srivilliputhur section lies on the Sivakasi- Srivilliputhur State Highway and is being used by the people of the surrounding villages such as Ayyampatti, Aalaiyur, Katlapatti, Meenakshipuram. This place falls under the Virudhunagar parliamentary constituency, in Tamil Nadu. In view of the presence of many small-scale manufacturing units involved in the manufacture of fireworks, matches, and also in view of the flourishing printing industry, a large number of transport vehicles ply on this road and the traffic density on this State Highway and particularly on this stretch is too high. All transport vehicles catering to the needs of the match, fireworks, printing and textiles industry that flourish in Sivakasi and its neighbourhood, transporting raw materials into Sivakasi and moving the finished products out of Sivakasi to the southern districts of the State have to cross this Satchiapuram level-crossing. In the absence of a rail over bridge or an underpass at this location, the transport vehicles have to wait for a long time at the level-crossing resulting in heavy traffic jams and congestion on this particular location. As the people's representative of Virudhunagar constituency, I would like to urge upon the Government to consider construction of a rail over bridge to ease the traffic congestion at level crossing near Satchiapuram village on Sivakasi- Srivilliputhur State Highway in my parliamentary constituency in Tamil Nadu..

VIRUDHUNAGAR DISTRICT Virudhunagar district has no access to sea as it is covered by land on all the sides. It is surrounded by Madurai on the north, by Sivaganga on the north-east, by Ramanathapuram on the east and by the districts of Tirunelveli and Tuticorin on the south. Virudhunagar District occupies an area of 4288 km² and has a population of 1,751,548 (as of 2001). The Head-Quarters of the district Virudhunagar is located at the latitude of 9N36 and 77E58 longitude. Contrary to the popular saying that 'Virudhunagar produces nothing, but controls everything', Virudhunagar does produce a variety of things ranging from edible oil to plastic-wares. Sivakasi known as 'Little Japan' for its bustling activities in the cracker industry is located in this district. Virudhunagar was a part of Tirunelveli district before 1910, after which it became a part of Ramanathapuram district. After being grafted out as a separate district during 1985, today it has eight taluks under its wings namely Aruppukkottai, Kariapatti, Rajapalayam, Sattur, Sivakasi, Srivilliputur, Tiruchuli and Virudhunagar. The fertility of the land is low in Virudhunagar district, so crops like cotton, pulses, oilseeds and millets are mainly grown in the district. It is rich in minerals like limestone, sand, clay, gypsum and granite. Srivilliputhur Megamalai- Tamil Nadu’s new Tiger Reserve February 23, 2021 In news : Recently, the Central Government has given its approval for the creation of Srivilliputhur Megamalai Tiger Reserve as a fifth tiger reserve in Tamil Nadu About the Srivilliputhur Megamalai Tiger Reserve and its significance Area covered: An area of 1,01,657.13 hectares or 1016.5713 sq.km in Srivilliputhur Grizzled Giant Squirrel Sanctuary and Megamalai Wildlife Sanctuary have been combined to create the tiger reserve. As per NTCA of the total 1.01lakh hectares, 64,186.21 hectare will be the core area and 37,470.92 hectare will fall under the buffer zone. Location: The new tiger reserve has Madurai territorial forest division in the north, Virudhunagar and Madurai district revenue areas on its east, Tirunelveli forest division and Periyar tiger reserve (Kerala) in south and Theni revenue district, Theni territorial forest division and partly Periyar reserve on its west as boundaries. Srivilliputhur, is a town and a Municipality in Virudhunagar district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu According to the concept note, tiger disperses in large areas and such dispersals are important for the exchange of genes. This process is essential for long term growth of a population. ln Tamil Nadu, Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) provides one of the largest habitats for the tigers and other co-predators. However, environmental stress factors such as availability of prey, availability of potential males, and absence of human caused disturbances could make the tigers move and give rise to metapopulation that could generate more genetic resources for populations to grow further.
